President Barack Obama is in the fight of his political career. His poll numbers are dwindling, as are his financial coffers due to lackluster donations to his reelection campaign.

And then there’s the Biden problem.

The president finds himself in the uncomfortable position of defending his vice president’s most recent gaffe. “They gonna put y’all back in chains,” said Biden of GOP challengers Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan.

Obama said Joe Biden misspoke — that what Biden really meant to say was the Romney/Ryan ticket would put voters back in “restraints.”

“In no sense was he trying to connote something other than that,” said Obama in an interview with People magazine on Wednesday.

Black voters also find themselves between a rock and a hard place — having to defend Obama’s defense of a remark that invokes slavery.

Meanwhile, there’s a report out that President Obama is considering dropping Biden from the ticket and adding Hillary Clinton as his running mate.

Obama has until the Democratic party convention on Sept. 3 to make his decision to drop Biden. The convention is being held in Charlotte, North Carolina.
