Obama’s Shameful Photo Op in Newtown

Obama newtown children

The slaughter of 27 innocents by a madman in Newtown, CT on Monday left Newtown residents in mourning and the country in shock. But one man, the president of the United States, managed to find a cute photo opportunity amid the tears and grief. Obama was recently criticized for honoring the late civil rights icon Rosa Parks by tweeting an image of himself taken in April at the Henry Ford Museum.

Obama newtown children

Updated: This is the image Obama’s people wanted the country to see, not the photo with the children, which was taken with a cellphone by someone backstage.

From NBC News:

President Barack Obama, the father of two daughters, brought “the love and prayers of a nation” Sunday to the people of Newtown, Conn., in an emotional address at an interfaith vigil after he visited with the parents of the 20 boys and girls who were killed Friday in their elementary school classroom.

“Newtown, you are not alone,” the president said. “As these difficult days have unfolded, you have also inspired us with stories of strength and resolve and sacrifice.”

Anyway good morning… Let me start off by saying i’m light weight hating on someone in my detatchment right now because he’s barely been here a year and got orders to germany but I have to stay here until next august and I’ve been here longer  I want to cry so bad  this aint right! :wail:

Can you explain to the inquiring minds exactly what is “shameful” about the POTUS taking a picture with children?

I would think that the picture is inspiring. Should he steer clear of all photo ops with children due to the tragedy that occurred last week? I don’t understand….. I’ll never believe he took the picture in poor taste and was oblivious to the grieving parents. That’s not where you were going with this is it Auntie?

Sorry Free I went off to a meeting and another one is coming up soon (Mondays!!)

The children are going to another school (there was a school that closed earlier this year that they will use) The current school is a crime scene still being processed, but I think going back will be too traumatic for such small children. I am thinking they may close the school permanently.

As for the media coverage, everyone handles this in their own way. I am a “need to know” because for me knowledge is power. For the ones that don’t want to know I say shut off your TV and get off social media.

Two towns received threats this morning causing the schools to be locked down. What the fluck is wrong with people?? Please continue to pray for the families, they really do need all the support in this sad situation.

You can’t turn on the radio or tv without this tragedy being the first thing you hear and see, which causes constant tears from many people. I for one am glad I see this picture with innocent smiling children but yes reality and lots of questions began to return but at least we had that one smiling moment….that one non tragedy thought, even if it only lasted for one second.
