Magazine tweets fake pic of President Obama skeet shooting
As you know, President Obama has been pushing for tougher laws on assault rifles and high capacity magazines ever since the Sandy Hook school shooting in Connecticut.
Earlier this month, Obama signed an Executive order allowing sweeping new gun control measures to go into effect immediately. He also called for Congress to get off their butts and renew Clinton’s ban on assault rifles.
In an interview with New Republic magazine, President Obama was asked if he has ever fired a gun. Pumped with a healthy dose of swagger, Obama answered: “Yes, in fact, up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time.”
His statement drew swift responses from fellow lawmakers, the NRA, and others who have never seen Obama lift anything resembling a gun.
“If he is a skeet shooter why have we not heard of this,” asked Rep. Marsha Blackburn Monday on CNN. “Why have we not seen photos, why has he not referenced it at any point in time?” during the debate over gun laws, she asked.
In response to the growing chorus of “LET US SEE THE PHOTOS OF YOU SKEET SHOOTING!”, The New Republic magazine tweeted a link to a fake White House website that featured a Photoshopped picture of Obama skeet shooting at Camp David.
The magazine quickly deleted the tweet, calling it’s publication “an accident.”
At this moment, Twitter is busy scrubbing its network of any traces of the picture — probably on orders of the White House.
The picture is being deleted as quickly as Twitter users can put it back up.
The question remains: has Obama ever gone skeet shooting or not?

Chicken wing prices typically increase around the Super Bowl, but this year the ballgame favorite has reached a record high.
Wholesale wings are currently at about $2.11 a pound (Northeast), the highest on record at the U.S. Department of Agriculture, up 26 cents or 14 percent from a year earlier, according to The National Chicken Council.
The council says Americans will eat 1.23 billion chicken wings on Super Bowl Sunday. That’s down one percent from 2011 due to a shortage in the number of chicken wings produced.
“Wing prices always go up in the fourth quarter of the year as restaurants stock up for the Super Bowl and prices usually peak in January during the run-up to the big game,” says a National Chicken Council release
Analysts expect the demand will hold steady even after the NFL season ends.
“Demand for wings is proving more and more to be inelastic,” said Bill Roenigk, chief economist and market analyst with the Washington, D.C.-based poultry group. “With the rising number of restaurants with menus dedicated to wings, the return of the NHL hockey season, the NCAA March Madness basketball tournament and then the start of grilling season, wing demand should remain hot.”
Meanwhile, here in metro Atlanta, two men were arrested for stealing $65,000 in frozen chicken from Nordic Cold Storage in the 4300 block of Pleasantdale Road in Doraville where they were employed, reports Fox 5 Atlanta.
The theft reportedly happened just before noon on Jan. 12. According to Gwinnett County Police reports, the suspects, Dewayne Patterson, 35, of Lithonia, and Renaldo Jackson, 26, of Stone Mountain, rented a truck and backed it to the bay doors. Video obtained by investigators show the suspects using a forklift to load 10 pallets of Tyson frozen chicken wings, Fox 5 reports.
The station says that while the chicken wings have not been found, the men “were put on ice” and charged with felony theft. According to Gwinnett County Jail records they were released on $2,950 bond, Fox 5 said.
