A teenager who molested a 4-year-old girl at a Queens, NY McDonald's Restaurant was arrested on Wednesday, NBC NY affiliate reports.
Police say the teenager entered the McDonald's about 6 p.m. Tuesday and lurked in the children's play area for 2 hours. Surveillance cameras captured the suspect loitering and pacing around the play area.
The girl and her mother entered the restaurant just before 8 p.m. The girl told police she entered the blue slide at 8 p.m. and encountered the teenager laying on his back at the top of the slide. "Do you want to be my best friend," she said the boy asked her.
The teenager then forced the girl to perform a sex act on him. The girl was able to get away and run to her mother. The girl's unidentified mother chased the teenager and grabbed him. But the teen escaped her grasp and fled the restaurant.
Police released the video footage of the suspect to the public on Wednesday. Police originally described the suspect as a man in his 20's or early 30's. The teenager was taken into custody late Wednesday and charged with committing a criminal sexual act, police said.
Investigators are trying to determine if the 14-year-old suspect is the same person who molested a 9-year-old girl at the same restaurant earlier this year. That suspect also asked the victim if she wanted to be his best friend. The victim waited until April to inform her mother about the attack.
"This type of behavior is not tolerated at our restaurants," said the franchise owner Cortesia Norman. "The safety of our customers is our top priority."
