Rapper Lil Boosie, 31, was released from a Louisiana State Penitentiary after 5 years on Wednesday, March 5. Boosie, whose real name is Torrence Hatch, pleaded guilty to third-degree possession of marijuana in 2009. He was sentenced to 2 years in prison but his sentence was doubled when Boosie violated probation while awaiting sentencing. Boosie successfully won an acquittal on May 11, 2012 on federal charges of first-degree murder of Terry Boyd. Lil Boosie was sentenced to eight years in state prison after pleading guilty to the drug charges, but his lawyers were able to prove that he was set up. Boosie will be in parole until 2018.
Lil Boosie earned his G.E.D. certificate while in prison on March 9, 2013.
Lil Boosie and his wife Walnita Decuir-Hatch have three children together; Torrence Hatch, Jr., Ivyana Hatch, and Tarlaysia Hatch.
