Chris Brown Suge Knight

Death Row Records owner and chief instigator Shug Knight was shot multiple times at an unofficial pre-Video Music Awards party hosted by Chris Brown in Los Angeles on Saturday. (The VMA folks were quick to disassociate themselves from Brown’s event after the shooting.) Knight — who at 49 is way too old to be partying in nightclubs — was reportedly shot at least twice and as many as six times.

Some believe Brown was the intended target of the gunman. According to social media reports, before the shots rang out, Brown stood with his arms outstretched as if he was invincible.

After the shooting, Brown (or someone in his camp) tweeted out a message that many found to be contradictory considering Brown’s fondness for havoc and mayhem.

Two others — a 32-year-old man and a 19-year-old woman — were also shot at the party. All three victims were transported to area hospitals and are expected to survive their injuries. Knight is said to be in worse condition than the others. Knight’s family released a statement to Sean Combs‘ media company, Revolt TV, disputing his gangster image and asking the public to pray for the hip hop impresario.

From Rhymeswithsnitch.com:

Suge’s family tell Diddy’s Revolt TV exclusively, “The family of Suge Knight ask that you keep Suge in your prayers and to stray away from the negativity portrayed by the media. Suge is currently resting and has lost a lot of blood, he’s human. He’s done a lot of things for the community and the culture as a whole so we ask that you respect that.”

Meanwhile industry insiders insist Chris Brown was NOT the intended target but video and new eyewitness accounts claim he certainly wasn’t diving for cover.
