Aluko

Nigerian playboy Kolawole "Kola" Aluko was revealed as the owner of the $50 million penthouse that went into foreclosure in New York's prestigious One57 tower.

The 48-year-old energy tycoon hid behind a LLC when he paid $50.9 million for the 79th floor condo in 2014. He took out a mortgage loan for $35.3 million from a Luxembourg bank in 2015.

Aluko lived a lifestyle that most people can only dream of. He partied with the likes of Beyonce, Jay-Z and Naomi Campbell, whom he is rumored to have dated.

The bank that issued the loan on the 6,240-square-foot condo says Aluko defaulted on the mortgage when it came due last year.

The bank listed as collateral his 213-foot yacht, the Galactica Star, which he once rented to Beyonce and Jay-Z for $900,000 a week in 2015.

He is believed to be hiding out on the yacht which was last registered in Freeport, Bahamas, on May 3, but is now "out of range", according to yacht trackers.

The NY Post reports that Aluko has been busy flipping his many properties that were purchased to hide profits illegally obtained from Nigeria's former oil minister, who has been accused in a $1.76 billion plot to defraud the Nigerian government.

Aluko is unloading his pricey properties, including a $14.7 million, 11,478-square-foot manse in Beverly Hills that he rented to singer Ariana Grande. She was forced to move out when he sold the mansion at a loss for $13 million in 2016.

One57 tower, situated on "Billionaire's Row", is also home to New York's most expensive condo. An "incredibly secretive" buyer shelled out over $100 million for the full floor unit in 2015.

I sometimes watch American Greed and they have stories like this all the time. Those pink faces do it often and leave unsuspecting fraud victims all over the US.

  • Zeta Phi Beta 1920

    Greedy.
    Greedy.
    Greedy.
Starved for attention. If he had stayed under the radar & did more charity work than partying, he would have a real fighting chance.
    Help hm, Jesus!

  • Moon Lee

    Rich people problems, moving along....

  • stav

Right! I was going to say him knowing them, what does that have to do with the price of tea in China? It was not necessary to mention their names, the rich usually run in the same circles, but who cares?

  • Kanyade

"$50.9 million for the 79th floor condo"

All the land in Texas I could buy. All the mineral rights to said land that could possibly yield monies with the discovery of oil or gas or other things.

A large ranch house on a thousand+plus acres of land with cattle, horses and yardbirds.

I could never. I would never spend that amount of money on a floor in a skyscraper in a cramped city, I don't care which billionaires lived nearby.

  • Elevated Soul

I will bet that "red eyed ninja was smuggling and washing that dirty Nigerian money"....

Shout-out to those who are living right!

Always sending him letters claiming he won a million dollars and all he has to do is send two hundred for processing fees. First time they cleaned out his account - twice. Second time he was actually waiting for a truck to pull up with a suitcase filled with his millions! He's been scammed so much that they actually sent him a thank-you note!!

  • Keisha Hannah

But here is the kicker on American Greed the real greedy ones is the so called victims. They have to be greedy to be going for most of the bullshit these people be scamming.

Everyone seems so piled up on top of each other, high prices, all the people, lines eveywhere and horrendous traffic etc, hell it's getting like that here in ATL too! LOL!

  • Quitedeliteful

Nuthing on his brain but dust -- his mama, his girl, his homeboy and both his sisters have repeatedly told him it was a scam but he's always looking for the easy slick way out. How are you going to win a contest that you never entered???

  • Kanyade

Yup. I've only visited NYC once and it was cool. Living there, I don't know. I'm too much of a rural, country girl. Same with Atlanta. Loved my time there but I'm good "here" (Texas) :)

  • Keisha Hannah

Its still on just saw a new episode last week.

  • Yoni7

Then tell him to go buy some Iraqi Dinars and charge him for it. You would make a KILLING off of him. Matter of fact, gimme his info. I'll call him myself. LOL

  • Jen_no_juice

Well he needs another front then. $13mil charge/loss to clean the money?

  • http://citygirlzen.blogspot.com/ missarewa

Kola Kola! See how you have disgraced yourself. Hiding out on a yacht, EFCC will find you very soon.

FWIW not all Nigerians are scammers, I work my butt off like my dad did and his dad did and so on. But I don't care if people want to generalize, it doesn't affect my biweekly check.

  • Tammie Reed

Never been to Texas want to visit, I have one friend that lives in Fresno

  • Yetunde

I work very hard too. Our culture is tarnished, it's going to take a whole lot more people like you and I to fix our reputation.

  • Yetunde

Is there actually a point to this story?

  • soujourn_erets

Don't live beyond your means, ha

  • Lovely1

Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous....smh I guess. That's a lot to be going through just to keep up with the "Carters" of the world. My goodness.

  • http://citygirlzen.blogspot.com/ missarewa

Well hey there sister! I work in stem and I can tell you that nigerians are very respected in this field. 50% of the time I meet a black person doing something relevant in this field they're nigerian. I don't get treated badly at work so no complaints there. Now when it comes to comments on the internet, we're all scammers but in the other (more important) places we get respect. There is a lot of poverty in nigeria and crime comes with that but we are making our impact in other ways as well. Kola is wanted in Nigeria cuz he pretty much stole the equivalent of our yearly budget or something equally outrageous. smh

  • Solstice

    Morning ??

  • MISSMEWITDATBULL

Don't waste time trying to apply critical thinking here. Logic went out the window when "Beyoncé" was used in the headline. #clickbait #suckeredusall

  • Dowoop

I think you should re-read it. He didnt lose $13M, he sold for $13m and the difference between the purchase price and $13M was a loss.

  • Yoni7

So serious. Look up Iraqi Dinar scams and see what I'm talking about. He's a PRIME candidate to sell some to.

  • Nessa

A lot of Nigerian men are so unattractive. It's gotta be the money ? because looking at them everyday without vomiting is a task!

  • AriesSun

Like you I also could never either. You could easily buy a very nice house near the beach especially on the east coast with a fraction of that money.

  • YellowSauce

they also do not like deodorant or lotion ... and 5 seconds before someone makes ME the bad guy for saying it ......

  • noireyblanca

My ex is Nigerian & he is attractive and he showers and wears lotion. They're just a$$holes...str8 A$$holes!!!

  • http://www.pureromance.com LA

Now this I agree with, lol... So true, very manipulative a

  • YellowSauce

LOL !!!!! ... and yes very arrogant

  • YellowSauce

I didn't know about the manipulation ... interesting

  • Quitedeliteful

Whuuut??? He'd go for it too. This man is so dumb it hurts. All you gotta really do is tell him two will get him twenty and he's all in...

  • Quitedeliteful

When I first got on this site there was a post about some Nigerian guy who was going around draining people's bank accounts. I called him an ABS -- an african booty scratcher and got dragged for it!! LOLLOLLOL!!!!! I was like if he's out here scamming people and taking their hard earned money then he deserves the ABS title.

  • Crazy tee

I had to take a course with a class full of them...90 mins of torture...couldn't report it to the professor because he was riding in the same boat...I mean it was a struggle to maintain or take a withdrawal or even an F....I somehow finished the course by wearing a ton of perfume.....this was years ago...

  • YellowSauce

I'm glad you survived and i'm sorry you had to experience that lol

  • Shanese

Texas has land for daysssss. The real estate there is amazing, most of us in overcrowded cities like LA are leaving and heading for Houston or Dallas. Houston for me

  • Mrs.Meenie

    His eyes look spooky

  • Decked Out

Who cares who his friends are? Really.

  • Omandesert

    ?? yep

  • rachel

Why are his eyes red???? It's just weird. Anyway, those Nigerians are extremely corrupt.

  • dontgetblocked

Why do some people have so much money and others live like us? 100 million dollars for a condo. Who owns this? A foreigner more than likely. I gotta find a way to tap into this money.

  • Phyllis

Willing to bet this crazy looking Nigerian never used his inside voice .At least none of ours in Texas never do... ?????

  • Jamal Warner

No, it is only a few that we hear about, who do elaborate scams. Not all Nigerians are corrupt.

  • TheWildChild

He looks like his nickname in the motherland was "LeRoy" ? not sure if I would've trusted him too far.

  • Quitedeliteful

    LOLLOLLOL!!!!!!!!!

  • Quitedeliteful

    LOLLOLLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Disqus_year4016

Even if I had all that money I still wouldn't spend 50 milli on no penthouse in ny. I can buy 50 houses in Texas for that kind of money and have a backyard. In nyc all u doing is buying next door neighbors and roaches.

  • Disqus_year4016

That's true 100%, how he's getting money is questionable. They big time swindlers.

  • Disqus_year4016

Lol, u got to be kidding me.

  • Arrissasso

I worked with many Sudanese and Nigerian men at the hospital in my city, they were not what these scammers are made up, they'd be working 2 fulltime jobs and a part time while studying for their graduate degrees or PhDs.

  • Arrissasso

I think that's all men, JK!

  • Arrissasso

Well most men who are from foreign countries have little to no respect for women rights. It's ingrained in our cultures. They feel women should be subservient.

  • NIA

KOLAMUTABO! IS A Fraud! ! like most Nigers! Carters have shady deals themselves.... wake up! sheeples...

  • Queen B

When u figure it out please let me know asap ?

  • Queen B

Uumm not really most victims get caught by trying to invest and get residual income. My bro got scammed for 50k about 3 years ago thinking he was investing into this oil business smh i wish he wudve listened to me
