Whitney Houston Cissy Houston

Friends of Whitney Houston -- who are peddling a documentary film on her life -- claim Whitney was molested by Dionne Warwick's sister, singer Dee Dee Warwick.

Dee Dee is not around to defend herself; she died in 2008 at age 63 following a long illness.

Dee Dee is Whitney's cousin and the younger sister of pop legend Dionne Warwick, the family member who had the most influence on Whitney's music career.

The documentary "Whitney" premiered at Cannes film festival on Wednesday night and the filmmakers waited until the end of the film to drop the shocking claim that the legendary singer was molested by her cousin at a young age.

Mary Jones, a longtime assistant to Houston, revealed in the documentary that Whitney told her Warwick had molested her.

"It made her question her sexual preference," Jones told Entertainment Weekly.

In her 2013 book, "Remembering Whitney", Cissy Houston, gospel singer and Whitney's mother, makes no mention of molestation claims.

"I think she was ashamed," Jones said of why Whitney never told her mother. "If Cissy had known, she would have done something about it, because Cissy loves her children."

Cissy does mention Robyn Crawford, Whitney's best friend and personal assistant, who may or may not have been involved in a romantic relationship with Whitney.

It was Robyn who told Cissy about her daughter's drug problems. Cissy would later say she respected Robyn for that.

Whitney died of an accidental drowning at age 48 on Feb. 11, 2012 in a Beverly Hills hotel bathtub.

Her pop single "I Will Always Love You" is the fifth best-selling single in the world with certified sales of 20 million.

It's not totally beyond the realm of possibility. I believe in speaking truth to power so I am not one to tell someone to stay silent because the truth is inconvenient or embarrassing. Nevertheless, I question the timing and the veracity of the statement.

It would explain a lot though...

  • Chuck

IF true, maybe this is why Dede Warwick suffered terribly before finally dying. It would also explain the demons in Whitney's life. Such a sad situation. But, why get paid to tell Whitney's pain? Greed is a mf!

  • king shun

not surprising alot of the black women i console tell me about female family members molesting them at very young ages

  • IAmLegend

Harboring that kind of pain and shame can definitely lead to some of the self-destructive behaviors that Whitney displayed throughout her life. Her brothers have admitted to being abused as children. If it's true about Whitney, I understand better why she did some of the things she did and why she was so open to taking Nick's crazy ass in from his family. It may also explain why she always insisted on taking Bobbi Kris with her when she toured instead of leaving her at home.

I can't watch this documentary, i wouldn't be any good afterwards and I don't get all mushy over celebs, but Whitney was my favorite female singer. I couldn't listen to secular music as a child and when i heard Greatest Love of All at a friend's house, i was blown away. That woman had a gift from above. I hate she struggled the way she did in life. I hope she's resting in peace ?.

  • FukkFolks2018

About Dionne sister. Dee Dee. That is her above. I know. she looks just like Dionne

  • FukkFolks2018

    I love you. *snort. SHEWWWW

  • FukkFolks2018

Damn! Wiki update folks dont waste not one damn it lick of time. They done changed Dee Dee's page to say all of this and that she too was addicted to that narcotic. Im sorry Im in the minority. I believe this. Female abuse to other, younger female family members actually does happen more than folks realize. A social worker friend of mine (at the time a case was in our local news) said its the most swept under the rug too bc female abusers are often older family members... and since the female entity itself is supposed to be a nurturer it is just not discussed.

  • iWasteTime

Why can't we just let dead folk and their business stay dead.
Who capitalizes off of this? Not Whitney's only child.
I'd think Sissy still getting Elvis and Aretha money ...
This is sad and wrong and they can keep it

Dee Dee struggled with narcotics addiction for many years and was in failing health for some time. Her sister was with her when she died on October 18, 2008 in a nursing home in Essex County, New Jersey, aged 63.

Aint it! I thought that was Dionne...

  • FukkFolks2018

I agree. It also explains a whole lot as to why your mom, dad, elders conducted themselves and raised their families certain ways. All this time you might think your daddy didnt love you and your sibs and was harsh and overprotective and comes to find out years later great uncle was touching them etc. this happened to a good friend of our family and this man is now a grandfather himself as of a month or two ago. So its generational indeed as you said. Its sad.

You can't heal what you don't reveal.

  • Rhyme and Reason

I have to agree with you because I didn't understand the whole Nick situation!

Her mother worked and toured a lot , and that alone will give kids abandonment issues!

As it does for latch-key kids or moms who work two or three jobs, and kids are left with babysitters, siblings and relatives to watch over them!

Cissy also didn't play, by all accounts (Whitney's), and this can cause kids to not tell out of fear.

  • Pamela

    I cannot today.
    RIP Whitney.

  • Pamela

    Sadly, yes.

You NEVER know whats happening in families. I lived in a city where one of my affluent neighbors was having sex with ALL five of her sons!? no one knew it until one evening several police and govt cars pulled up and it was a BIG commotion and her sister was out there calling her nasty names. The sons were always so nice, well behaved and pleasant. You would have NEVER suspected it..smh

  • Rhyme and Reason

I think it was Lionel Ritchie who recently stated that Whitney Houston was FRAGILE, and Kevin Costner saying at her funeral how unsure or insecure she was while we thought or viewed her as having the total package, EVERYTHING, and a voice on a level all her own!

I won't watch this documentary or any because I loved her as an artist, not just her music, but her realness!

The timing and motive is always under questioning because we really didn't need to know this!

But if it is the truth, then be it!

  • MissHarlem

I believe it mainly because the women in her life family wise was toxic to her. Be it with good or bad intentions. Speak on female abuse at anytime. RIP Nippy and see y'all next post.

As long as the person is telling the truth and is not just looking for attention, I'm all for speaking the truth, so healing can begin. The black community (because I can't relate to no other) covers up a lot of séxual abuse. Broken hearted children who turn into broken hearted adults, who are told to" just get over it", seems to be the norm.

  • Marlika

It probably did happen. A lot of things going on in families that are not discussed. I believe if Cissy did know she would be deny it likes she’s does.

  • Trace da Ace

wow...really?? Now is the time to spill this??? Poor woman has been dead 6 years...and now is the time to tell a very personal story that I'm sure Whitney did not want shared....and the accused is deceased as well?? These folks are reaching....reaching hard...I mean how many "movies" are they going to make about Whitney?? Shit....leave it alone....

  • tintin

Im still shocked at how her child died the same way she did

  • Evillene

It seems completely plausible that Whitney's troubles were in some part related to childhood sexual trauma. I hate to hear it was a family mrmber, and particularly Dee Dee -- who was herself a tragic figure -- but this unfortunate revelation provides some basis for why Whitney engaged in such self-destructive behavior. Secrets, shame and trauma can kill your soul. She didn't have everything and just throw it away. She was in pain and torment, and wasnt able to deal with it openly, so she sought escape in drugs.

  • Renee26

Smh at family secrets....yeah people need to be mindful that molesters come in both sexes

Whitney didn't speak on it so idk if it's true but sad if it did happen

  • KcoolMuziq

I LOVE Whitney's mother! She is NO NONSENSE & tells it like it really is. But she has secrets herself that ROCKED that family.

  • Y’all Jealous Cuz I’m Prudy

I can believe this. One of my sister's told me that one of our aunts touched her. That aunt never touched me and from my understanding, never touched the other sister but I believe my sister. It explains a lot of her behavior.

With that said, the cycle has to stop somewhere. I found that either the sex?ally abused, are over protective of children (trying to prevent it from happening to another child) or they repeat what was done to them. No one really talks about the protectors though. They're usually thrown in with the latter of the two, which is redicoulous.

Gossiping about the dead goes on in every family this is nothing new. Regular families just don't go to the press/media.

  • KcoolMuziq
  • Y’all Jealous Cuz I’m Prudy

It's the dirty little secret within the black community (families) and it has ruined many. We're taught to "not snitch" no matter what. That "no snitching" has caused so much damage to children and has allowed only the "predator" to live a some what "normal" life. The child/victim is told to move on and not speak on it. It's pathectic and sád as hêll. It also opens up the chance for more predator behavior, to accure, within the family. Smh.

But another thing I've noticed is how the protectors are attacked. It's almost as if the family feels like, if they support the protector, it will give that person strength and they might expose, the family's secrets. I know a lot of black sheep's and that is their story. They're not all bad and being the "black sheep" was by design. It's to keep the family looking like they're normal. Smh.

  • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z1lo6u-UIbo Nancy Drew-Natural & Luv’n It!

i believe it's plausible, and might explain some other aspects of her life (NOT saying that every gay person was molested, and NOT saying that all gays are potential molesters), just applying it to THIS case. anyway, these family secrets are some b.s., IMO! today's elderly & revered patriarch/matriarch may be yesterday's tormentor/molester. i'm sorry, but fugg them, NOW.

that's why i have so little sympathy for Bill Cosby. yes, he's an old man NOW, but he was at the height of his career and at the height of his (alleged) predatory offenses when he was still relatively young, fit, rich, and influential. no one could touch him then, so when is the "right" time to make him accountable?

Agreed. People don’t just completely self destruct with no basis. Whitney Houston was abused on many levels and she was in a lot of pain. She did drugs from a young age to self medicate and died self medicating. Money can provide comfort, but money does not heal broken spirits.

  • Yoni7

    I'm sure.

  • Real Talk

Yes!!! Molestation is why many, I'm not saying ALL individuals who are gay, bi- sexual , etc are confused with their sexuality.. that confusion can also lead to self destruction such as drinking, drugs or promiscuous behaviors. Keep in mind, it's all a facade and a mask to try and cover up that pain. So many people like to tell them to just get over it but what they do not understand is that that type of pain is embedded into your spirit, It's not at the surface. So you have to dig down spiritually and that starts with recognizing what has happened to you is not your fault and understanding that even if you enjoyed the feeling at the time it is still not your fault and you must forgive yourself. The hardest thing you're going to have to do is face the demons head on with no alcohol or drugs. Look yourself in the mirror and realize you are not what has happened to you, it has stolen your happiness
and how to experience a real genuine relationship without running away in fear of being hurt, always questioning if you're worthy of love or good enough because remember the act of molestation has embedded into you soul and mind that you are not worthy of real love, just worthy of being used and abused. But God!!! I declare that your pain and suffering ends today. Take it to God, I am not saying that counseling does not work but take it to God and ask him to cleanse you and to cleanse your spirit of any unclean spirits that has penetrated your body during the molestation. Tell him to free you and break all generational curses ask him to free your mind body and spirit. I am not saying that church is not important however make this a one-on-one time with just you and God. If you do not know how to go to him, go to a dark room alone with no one else around you and just cry out. Just cry until your spirit feels empty, talk to him.. you don't have to tell him what happened to u because he already knows. Just let him know that you are TIRED, lost and confused and want to be free and Ask to remove demonic spirits and generational curses that entered your body during the molestation. During this time you need to sustain from sex b-c soul ties are extremely difficult to break you are carrying soul ties from the person who molested you and everyone who have ever molested them and that can be many many many people. that's why so many people are walking around and so many people see them as crazy but the truth is we have all kind of different spirits and souls living within us and we all need to do spiritual and soul ties cleaning to free ourselves. Google soul ties if you have never heard of them. Life is not easy but we all must realize that we all are fighting some kind of battle so we need to stop judging people and helping each other instead. God bless you guys. I hope this helps at least one soul #ButGod

  • ZRoJoTheLezBeyond

Child molestation is also heavily covered in the Catholic community. What's the nationality of the majority of those priests? That gets swept under the rug as well and they get transferred to other churches to continue molesting children (mostly boys). Let's not pretend this only happens in the black community. It happens everywhere.

  • king shun

and thats why its covered up yall like to say its only white folks that do it..and tell me this how does white folks being molesters help black people you think that takes the shame off black folks doing it or its ok cause whites do it too..you need your head checked

  • ZRoJoTheLezBeyond

Nowhere in my comment did I say it's "only" white people that are molesting children. Priests come in all colors/nationalities, but in the USA a lot of them just so happen to be white. My comment wasn't meant to explain how white molesters help take the shame off black people. It was meant to shed light that child molestation does not only happen in the black community, which you already knew what I meant when I made my initial comment. You just like to come in here everyday and try to turn everything into a race issue. You know the majority of the people who come in here to comment are POC, so instead of being rational you seem to enjoy stirring things up. Trying to ruin people's moods, keep the race war going. How's that working out for you so far?

  • RAE23

I don't feel sorry for Bill either! I WAS ATTACKED FOR SAYING A PREDATOR IS A PREDATOR SO WHY DOES HE GET A PASS?!!! Molestation is a serious habitual problem and yes we are too familiar with the fact that too many hurtful secrets are kept. I say that many would be shocked and appalled if ALL the secrets came out. I truly believe there are more predators than people are willing to believe. PEOPLE HAVE GOTTEN AWAY WITH THIS FOR YEARS AND WILL FOR YEARS TO COME!!!!!!!

This is why my mom never let me spend the night at anybody's house, not even family. I had a grandpa (my dad's dad, passed a couple of years ago) who used to molest his oldest daughter (my dad's full blooded older sister) from when she was a child till her adult years. She's a sweetheart but has some mental issues. My mom was extremely protective of me and my brothers. I didn't understand it then but once I became an adult, I did. Fully.

ruin peoples mood? how can i do that? i am just a poster who is a person of color posting my opinions

There was money left. BK’s part actually went to Bobby’s Brown, and he started a foundation in BK’s name to help victims of domestic violence.

    I know Pat is heated.

and in my statement where did i say it only happen with blacks i dont give a damn what happen with white folks it has nothing to do with me

  • Miss Thang

I'm super protective of children. I feel everything they go through. My heart breaks for them. I thought I was gonna snap when my sister in law told my niece to shut up and slapped her. I literally thought I was going to kill my sis in law.

  • mona q

I tend to agree. I recall seeing Iyanla ask several gay men how many of them were molested as a child and all were. I also saw the same on another talk show.

  • Miss Thang

" alot of the black women i console"
just curious why you console women? you mean as a boyfriend or is it your profession?

personally, i see no problem with your statement or your stance. still, even if i disagreed, that wouldn't make you wrong. my opinion weighs not an ounce more than yours, LOL! and i do get it when people mention his legacy, but as i said, if HE cared as much about his legacy as some of his fans do, maybe he should have conducted himself differently. https://uploads.disquscdn.com/images/68bc52b2a4f54f3dc0d4dea29ec0c12c203c19b65d4d18beb2fbbd13d0be6a55.gif

    lets say both

  • Real Talk

Sad thing is some people had it happened to them so young that they do not even remember it. Ex: A 2 year old you have no memory of the molestation, however the spirit still have entered their body

  • the guest

Far too often that is the truth.

  • the guest

    Amen.

  • Miss Thang

    truth is truth.

  • Miss Thang

    ...ok..lol

  • Evillene

Dee Dee is not at peace if she did what she is accused of. I hope it's not true.

  • kekeb

    Hope this is NOT true

  • Oya Shango

If true, in essence she raped Whitney, and psychologically destroyed her innocence, which is why she struggled with many issues including her morality/religion, sexuality, self esteem and family boundaries. What her own biological aunt did was one of the worst acts of betrayal.

  • XoXo

Very long winded, but worth reading. ? Thanks!

  • Real Talk

    Lol!!!! Your very welcome!

  • mona q

I don't know about the spirit but I'm speaking of more along the lines of the feeling. It is possible to have a climax while being molested or raped (not at the age of 2- of course). This adds to the guilt that many have said they feel...but it is involuntary. I have read where a few gay men said that they enjoyed the sensation of anal penetration and preferred it over being with a woman. Now is this because of feeling it at such a young age while being molested? Maybe.

  • Real Talk

So very true! I have gay friends and i heard many say as well that a women could not measure up. It is deep!! We ALL remember our first sexual experience and if your a child during that time, that is what your mind grows and develop around. A sense of normalcy so to speak even though its far from normal. Most molesters have been molested. Generational curses are real and that is why most times it is a family member who did the molesting. I have a friend, beautiful girl who is only attracted to females. She told me that her uncle would make her perform oral sex on her female cousin and they were both only 8. So again the first experience is what followed...another topic but ladies STOP bringing all kind of men around your kids...boys included!!!

To imagine that she was unsure and insecure of herself with her level of talent is mind boggling

  • SG

    People make me sick.

  • EMILY POST

Molestation pops up again... Not shocking.

  • Evillene

    Cousin, not Aunt.

  • Storm’s Rage!

It doesnt help that nobody in her family and around her really cared about her.

  • Storm’s Rage!

Well, she was doing the kind of drugs that poor people have access to as well. So................

I was talking about quantity not quality plus she didn't have to commit any criminal acts to get her fix.

don't understand WHY these show business parents were to cheap to have protective nannies or just take the kids with them to be watched while they were performing and at practice.

Faith Hill and Tim McGraw took all their kids with them and PAID for nannies and teachers to go on the road with them for their three girls and others do it also. have read about this subject matter to many times with these kids being all willy nilly left with whom ever and the kids being molested.

singer Pink takes her babies with her and her hubby now travels with them so they are together as a family unit where BOTH parents have their eyes on them and not some others where things can go very very wrong.

  • Rhyme and Reason

I saw her in an interview with Ed Gordon on BET, years ago, and she said, "this is what I do, but it's not who I am." And, how she didn't want to be a pop star, but was molded into something that wasn't herself! (Clive, Arista)

She just grew up with a mom who was a professional singer, who pushed her and demanded her to be a great singer, apparently it was second nature!

Whitney didn't get to be the superstar like Queen Latifah, who seems to always control her image, and what she projects, both Newark girls, a very down to earth place, around the way, IMO!

Childhood violations and then a being in a commodity business (entertainment), out of control, she couldn't cope!

  • Rhyme and Reason

It was the 1960s and her mom wasn't Aretha Franklin or Gladys Knight, so family were the babysitters or nannies, grandmas, relatives, close friends!

This kind of abuse wasn't openly talked about, even tho, it's been going on since forever!

You never know who might hurt your kids, even professional nannies, daycares, teachers, doctors, family members, siblings, etc. do it, even if you're not on the road or a stay-at-home mom!

Cindy Crawford had very scary nanny experience!
