Netflix Killer Mike

Rapper Killer Mike stars in a new six-episode Netflix original series titled Trigger Warning, that takes on social issues and promotes the growth of Black-owned businesses in Atlanta. In the series, Mike tests the power of the Black dollar by only spending money in the Black community for three days.

Trigger Warning, which premieres on January 18 on Netflix, features Killer Mike's controversial views on race relations, the economy, Black businesses, the gang culture, education, and more.

"Anything that doesn't help Black people needs to be burned the f-ck down now!" he says.

The series' title refers to emotional triggers (usually on social media) that sets off strong reactions in people such as anger, sadness and anxiety.

The outspoken Grammy Award-winning rapper and activist conducts social experiments that take him into neighborhoods, strip clubs, schools and a corporate conference room, where he assists notorious street gang the Crips to promote their own line of soda.

The 43-year-old Atlanta native also put his money where his mouth is by spending cash in Black-owned businesses for three days.

In one scene in a strip club, Mike tells an Asian stripper she has to go because she's not Black.

During a visit to an elementary school classroom, Mike chastises a Caucasian boy for speaking out of turn while a Black boy was talking.

Wherever you stand politically, Trigger Warning will reshape the way you think about social issues and the Black experience in the South.

  • Shamwow

? If anything is in need of discussion, it should be ways to build and improve our people. “ Surviving America while being black” let’s discuss ways to support black people, black businesses and black children.

  • Trey

looks like some coon ish...never forget when Joy Reid made Killer Mike fall back for thinking he was gon roast her

  • KneeSee

I can't with this pic, y'all. There have to be better ones of him.

  • Yardgirl

In the series, Mike tests the power of the Black dollar by only spending money in the Black community for three days.
    *************************************
I think this is doable and I am going to challenge myself to do this!!

  • Applebootay

Well, I live in the NORTH and if we burned down everything that didn't "help" only black people, we'd ALL be without a job. But yes, I do promote circulating the black dollar..

  • Trey

start with the black strippers instead of the ASIAN ones...LMAO

  • IyanlaVanzantoftheInterWebs

I just CAN’T with this dude but I wish him the best of luck with his BIG A$$ MOUTH??

  • tintin

i did this for one day and paid tripple the price for some oxtail and goat meat. These asians are messing up white, black , indian and every other race business. i don't know how they get things so cheap. i'm really wondering if i was buying real meat from them because what they sell for 2.99/lb, the black business is selling for 7.99/lb.

  • SweetTEE

We on our Black Wall Street ish in 2019...

  • Blak

I can't take a man who goes by the name "killer" seriously when it comes to political/social issues

  • Trey

    HAHAHAHAHAHAH

  • HotInCleveland

I’ll tune in and give it a whirl.

  • WhoKnew

Something to think about. I bought a 12 pack of wings from my local grocery store for $14. So then the next time I went to an international food store and bought 12 wings for $8. I was like WTF? I spent 5 minutes looking at the wings trying to see if I was buying real chicken. I thought exactly as you. How in the ham sammich can they sell these wings so much cheaper than the big grocery store.

  • Yardgirl

Girl, I am done with those Asians and their cheap food!! I have seen enough documentaries to be very wary!! At this point the onliest thing I will eat from their restaurant is fried chicken wings and even then I am wary!! I only buy oxtail and goat meat from West Indian grocery stores. Period.

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

Me too. I like the concept. My people let me down [in business] a few times, but I still like to support my own peeps when I can.

  • Trace da Ace

Well from the trailer...it looks interesting....I have a 30 day free Netflix trial that I have been holding out on until I see something worthy of watching......so this may be something I may tip in to see how the water feels....oh and Aunty Sandy....that pic up top is HILARIOUS!!! Like I wanna shoot a penny in his mouth or something...lol

  • Bashi22

I will watch black need to take back ownership in business. All these black community only see East Indians, Chinese and Middle Eastern are business owner. Also we need self love stop killing our own.

  • HotInCleveland

    Agreed.

  • tintin

Yes i only buy the meat at the west indian store too, a immigrant worker one time whispered and asked me if the goat i was buying was dog meat cause she didn't know what it was, i was done when she asked me that . my friend said she thinks the asians are selling donkey meat. I'm beginning to agree.

and i don't eat chinese food anymore, after watching border security i saw them bringing bags of chicken from china in their suitcase, so i was so done after that. But man , i went from say $13 for oxtail to $27 but i know the west indian ain't selling no donkey meat . but hey i've cut down on meat, oxtail and goat like twice a year.

  • Mama Dee’s Wig Maker

    I will check it out

  • MJF

You are apart of the problem.

  • Trey

How does that work..you pay for a game ticket and instead of sitting in your seat, you go it a cut?

  • Gloria

    Gonna tune in.

  • ALLMINE?

Did he really say they to that white boy? ?? I wish we'd stop focusing on white folks so much especially online..its embarrassing

  • ALLMINE?

We don't need religion period. Only economics mathematics etc...we're hundreds of years behind asians and whites.

  • FukkFolks2019

    I will watch

  • PlayerP

  • ShelbyMoore

Yea, I'm definitely not buying food from the Asians....not even if they're giving the food away for free.

  • FukkFolks2019

And when Girl lil ass DID not listen and left that boat. Bf was like Girl about to get her lil ass snatched. AND BOOM. She literally got dragged by her mama.

  • FukkFolks2019

That movie is for the everything

  • ShelbyMoore

Is this raw oxtail? If so, where do you live? Oxtail is $3.95 per pound in my area. I'm not understanding $13. If it's cooked, then $13 seems cheap for my area though.

  • PlayerP

"My people let me down [in business] a few times..."

True...but that is not specific to race.

  • Yardgirl

    Will do! Thanks

  • hi-liter

It’s all separate. You buy your game tickets and if you want a haircut before or after the game, you gotta pay for that too.

  • the guest

But Killer Mike takes money from and speaks at RACIST WHITE SOUTHERN COLLEGES that still actively oppress black people and cover it up with vanity diversity programs. Don't get me started on the hypocrisy.

  • FukkFolks2019

Im glad we are giving Mike another chance after him and that NRA mess

  • Yardgirl

It's about $5.50 in my area and I have seen it as much as $5.99 (like we don't see that .1c short of $6)

  • goat

    Killa Kill!!

  • Trey

Thats what I mean...why would I go get a haircut in the stadium when I paid to watch the game in my damn seat!

  • RICHIE_RICH

    Where on the west side?

  • DroneRivers

    I will be watching!

  • KLo

    close your mouth

  • FukkFolks2019

Bernard Freeman collects a paycheck as an ongoing guest lecturer at one of these same said universities. The black student body population at the university is only 7%.

Does that make his voice any less black on items pertaining to the black community?

  • tintin

no raw. i cook it myself. i'm in Canada. It's 6.99 or more per lb.

  • Rayne

Rich, they’ve sold it ???? used to be called spiveys. Ion know the new name ????

  • RICHIE_RICH

    Ok , gotcha . I miss Chitown , haven’t been back since I left. ?????

  • Dowoop

  • Dowoop

  • IyanlaVanzantoftheInterWebs

I ALMOST chocked on this ENTIRE comment ????????

  • IyanlaVanzantoftheInterWebs

Right... He sure has his fair share of ignorant views???

  • Dontgetdraggedhoe??

Ion take radical stances like that. I cant. Im afro latina and as afro as i feel if my ppl started declaring that sht that doesnt help us needs to be burned down id slap a hoe. But as far as supporting black businesses all day papi i buy black or hispanic. I dont even shop for groceries at mainstream stores. Our money needs to stay within our communities. Hell i bought this weave hair from a black woman on instagram. She had horrible customer service so i cussed her out in the dms but i left a great review anyway. She dmd me shocked because she thought for sure i was gonna slander her i told her i keep the dirty laundry in the house bih.

  • Nik

Keeping dirty laundry in- house is old school. That's when we were in our glory days of sticking together more than we do now. Good job in that, Sis.

  • the guest

The vendors and suppliers are racist and charge black merchants a "black tax" to set black businesses up to fail. Black business owners are not in "the club" so they do not get the hook up. So people don't shop black business because they prices are higher for less quantity. Then people have no choice but to save money with cheaper prices elsewhere. It's all a set up against black businesses.

What we do is resolve to spend a little more at the black owned bakery (average $1-10 more) and dry cleaners (average $2-5 more) that we exclusively patronize or when dining at black owned restaurants. It's sad that black owned businesses are set up to fail.

  • SweetTEE

    I can appreciate that lol

  • Dontgetdraggedhoe??

Always. I ride for my sisters regardless. When we get behind close doors ill definitely check a bih but i present a united front in public. My mom always told me that as long as we lock elbows in solidarity el demonio blanco can’t tear us apart.

  • SweetTEE

I don't know what is up with that pic.. but I do know that he looks like he can snatch an uterus clean out the cooch with that mouth area.. and I am afraid.

  • SweetTEE

That damn girl made me turn my back to the movie.. I was nervous AF.

  • SweetTEE

    Your hair looks luxurious.

My former classmate and my former pastor.... this I gotta see. Definitely watching.

  • Blak

Your mama and daddy are a part of the problem. I can't support rappers who try to play civil rights aactivist and then play gang bang and homage to drugs and ho'ing like him and that short guy.

  • Society Has Changed

Killer Mike sho got a killer mouth.... ?

  • Panther Charleston

Ummm...I'm Negro American, and I can tell you right now: Line of soda? No. Requesting black strippers? No. Why not clean up the water in black communities and provide infrastructure in black community so that young black women don't have to strip? We long tired of phony look-like help bs. Nice try, but no.

  • hi-liter

    Got ya ??

  • Dowoop

I choked on that damn 'goat' they sold me.

  • Kellsonthe1sand2s

I will definitely watch this! I do like his standpoint on issues especially Black economics and business.

  • We Can Do This

    Right. Lol!!!

  • We Can Do This

BWS was the last real black community!

  • Li-Wright

Rev. Jesse Jackson once said that the $dollar$ circulates in the White community 20 times; but only one time in the black community.

This show sounds like a comedy....no joke...it sounds like a comedy.

  • Li-Wright

How did he get a Netflix show? Netflix is really throwing around a LOT of $$$$.

  • Luvi

    Can I upvote you x1000 ?

  • Prettybootnikki

Omg !!! I chuckled. I will be watching. I agree with some of the things he was saying. And some parts of this clip was funny too.

  • tintin

    Lmao hahhaha ewwww

  • ClaireHuxtable

Maybe it's located on the 50 yard line.

  • Rhyme and Reason

I hope it brings awareness, and also show why some Black people continue to get burned, when trying to shop with Black merchants and service people! Our spending power is just astounding! Our dollars only turned once or maybe twice, sadly!

Good for Killer Mike, I will watch to help his numbers, if for no other reason, it helps other Black-produced projects to be green-lighted and funded!

  • nick c

    Netflix will approve any show

Okay, Killer Mike. We see you! I'll be watching.

  • Rayne

U missing that good food! Come visit but don’t stay. I wanna leave too!

  • Doink_Ahanahue

So in essence, he I promoting "reverse racism" and justifying it by saying its for the Black community? Case in point: "Anything that doesn't help Black people needs to be burned the f-ck down now!" he says'
... and WHY does every black person with a dollar or two go to the strip club 1st?! Why not support small family owned and oriented businesses? Why not show black people you can do more than own a club (strip or otherwise), a liquor store, etc. Show how to bring positive businesses and support them as well.

Hopefully this show is not as shallow as it sounds...

  • RICHIE_RICH

I know , been craving three wishes in Chinatown so bad. I told my family catch y’all in the spring!!!!

  • Rayne

    Okkaayyy!!

  • Jordan’s Memory

And not to mention stop being rude! greet me when I walk through the door instead of continuing to talk to your co worker about the dude you banged lastnight and open up 7 days a week on time and not when ur arse feel like getting out of bed. I try real hard to give the black man my dollar but I have to admit it's hard sometimes because they just don't do right. But I will continue to support when I can. Sorry if this post got OT a little. lol

  • jayhawkpride

How is Creflo going to be struck by lightening for preaching a black savior, when the Bible he preaches from every Sunday tells you he was black?

  • Karen Brady

    Looks funny. I'll watch this.

"spending cash in Black-owned businesses for three days."

    HA 'F'In HA HA HA.

  • Lorna

Great, jarring show. Painful and beautiful imagery, a dash of hotep, dark humor, and nuanced topics not discussed in commercial entertainment much. I didn't know it was going to be all of that when I started watching, but it left me thinking and frowning often.

  • Wayup!

My local BB told me that he feels like he is being blackballed because the board is giving him a hard time not allowing him to have ACCESS in his store because they are saying that he serves hot food...but the funny thing is all the Poppy sell hot food too and they have ACCESS...he said he feels like he has to be PR to have influence,...but I hope this year they pass him..because WE need him in OUR neighborhood..IM tired of going to somebody else for a Cheesteak, when not knocking nobody but some things are synonymous with America... Pretzels cheesteaks HOtdogs,,,etc....you know where Im going with this
