$140 million can buy a lot of material things, but it can't buy confidence and self-esteem. Seattle homemaker and part-time singer Ciara Wilson took to social media to post a raw selfie, stripping away society's standards of beauty that hold us back.

Ciara revealed her vulnerable side by taking out her ever-present hair extensions and washing off her layers of makeup. Then she posted her "rawest selfie" on her Instagram page.

She captioned the image:

"No makeup. No extensions. Vulnerable. My Beauty Marks and all. The real me.. and I love it. Finally embracing myself fully! It feels good."

CiCi encouraged her 21.9 million followers to go makeup free and remove their hair extensions.

"Csquad! Join me in my #BeautyMarks journey and upload your rawest selfies at onlyciara.com/beautymarks. Don't be afraid to let YOUR Beauty Marks show!"

Some of her followers met the #BeautyMarks challenge by posting their own raw selfies. Scroll down to see the beautiful raw selfies!

  • Ms. EJ

Ole boy couldn't wait to smize for the camera, LOL. Ciara looks beautiful! I love her full eyebrows...just needs slight dusting. Although, I do think wearing makeup is okay as long as it doesn't make you look like a completely different person.

  • Yui

?? this is challenge? I look this everyday. Putting on a full face of makeup is challenging—at least daily for me.

  • Ms. EJ

Yeah...I normally stick to mascara, eyeliner some gloss and lipstick every now and then. Plus, I like for my face to breathe so, hardly wear foundation unless to cover a spot once in a while.

  • Ms. EJ

IKR! I’m natural 24/7! The thought of a face full of make up and heavy weave in Los Angeles heat is frightening!!! I’m 50 and haven’t seen makeup since high school! I can still pass for mid-30 or under!

  • T Willis

It’s a ‘no’ for me. The raw photo of Ciara really surprised me, because she naturally has beautiful smooth flawless skin, and I assumed with the constant lace wigs, that her hair would be thick and beautiful. In the above photo, she looks old/haggard, her hair line - I can’t tell if it’s fading or premature gray specs - and her skin looks dry/uneven. If you’re going to promote natural beauty, then take a pic of your skin glowing, and your hair is healthy/shiny... sadly, all the other pics look better than this millionaire NFL player’s wife

  • Gamer?? Chick

Bruh at the end who asked you

That last pic was not needed. I would kill for Ciara's hairline. she has a good, DEFINED hairline.

  • Guest

    Lol!

  • Jethro

They're all beautiful, except for the last guy. ?

  • Navybeans95

Guess I'm my "rawest" self everyday...all I wear is lipstick on occasion...your skin can be beautiful without the war paint if u drink water and take care of yourself...

  • Rayscoty

Sandra had to end the post with that masculine wo/man photo..

  • leapyearpisces

Yeah, mostly every woman I know, do not wear make up daily; including myself and I have cystic acne scars.....I only wear make up when I am going out or a special occasion. I rather take the face painting time in the morning and put it towards my snooze button time. LOL

  • leapyearpisces

Ugh!!! I guess that is his "come hither" look. Rolls eyes. We women can't NEVER have anything to ourselves. LOL

  • Chhzz

    with his everywoman pose

  • ShWa

Hands down even with flaws & blemishes Black women are the most beautiful women on Earth!
That’s why everybody tried to be us and imitate our swag.

  • Anunnaki, in A twilight Zone

    Chile

  • Chhzz

now if a white woman said that we would have problems?
how about all women are awesome and we need you all.
keep in mind black women bleaching they skin, getting nose jobs, wearing blond hair etc, so the same can be said about them as well.
just wish we cease the divide and celebrate everyone..

  • B.Loveitt

Everybody's been doing this in some shape form or fashion for quite some time just different hashtags and some story behind it. She looks like one of the mom's in carpool at Whitfield Academy...scooping her kids.

  • Li-Wright

Beautiful. Black women and natural hair. Anywho, Ciara is catching flack for her Motown 60 performance. I thought it was just Meh.

  • Vonda K

I said what I said and meant it!
All women are beautiful. Be real we live in a society that minimizes the beauty and accomplishments of black women daily. So ever chance I get to give shout out to my beautiful sisters I’m going for it!

  • Jay

I'm happy she started this challenge. Its beautiful and positive I hope she continues this challenge

  • Dahl

    That last pic tho...?

  • Coffee1st

IF a white woman said that????
?????????? Newsflash - the whole world has been "saying" this for damn evah.
Cut that all inclusive, everybody matters lunacy out. Where was this inclusavitoty when all the dolls were white, every face in the magazines were white, every leading lady was white, every face in every beauty related commercial was white, etc. But now we have the AUDACITY to love us and it's a whole problem????
???????? these are the only chairs I could find but please... HAVE ONE!

  • Coffee1st

True. I only wear lipstick to offer contrast cuz I'm pretty light.
Now. If I could only find the bomb moisturizer. Right now, mango butter is holding me down pretty well.

  • MsSapphire9800

I am not going there today...I included him as a Queen....he earned it with that pose.

  • Coffee1st

    Smh.
My hair grows like kudzu. My eyelashes didn't get the memo tho.

  • hottlanta

Er Alicia keys did it first. Next.

  • Thingamajig

Ciara is so full of ?. What exactly is natural... never mind cause this would turn into one of those never ending got d@mn debates.

  • 2gr8ful

    ??

  • Navybeans95

Yes hunny ...my favorite is Rose hip oil...it's so light...works great on me...

  • Satui Lerne

Gosh.... this might be damn shallow and I'll own that but some people can pull off looking just as good without makeup but this.. this isn't one of those times

  • Fodderwing

    Them eyebrows on FLEEK tho

  • BaileyBlue17

"She" flawless. Eyebrows arched to perfection. Beard edged up nicely.

  • Malai

THANK YOU!!!! Black women can never put THEMSELVES on a pedestal without mfs getting in their feelings...hell if we dont uplift US then the world shol wont!

  • Malai

    Makeup does wonders!

  • Karen Brady

the dude at the bottom. You better go boy.

  • Chhzz

And how will society improve if we do not all grow. Big ups to our sisters without diminishing others.
Have not the larger society made changes? Are there not many dolls to choose from?
Like dr maya angelo said. We must call out all forms of bigotry and hate
I'm with you sis. I just want us to be careful how we word stuff like we expect other to.

Btw tell our sisters that that blonde hair weave is white girl appropriation unless yours naturally that way

  • Chhzz

Nah I'm with you. I just do not think we need to belittle others to make our light shine.

  • lilli lilian

I was thinking the same thing. Being free of acne blemishes, dark spots, botched chemical peels, etc makes a world of difference, especially when you have nice facial features. Kenya Moore is pretty but folks sure are quick to taunt her skin problems, and back in the early 2000s when Alicia Keys had acne didn't a rapper say how much prettier she would be without it and back in the day wasn't there a high school picture of Ashanti floating around for the purpose of judging her HS acne. A no makeup challenge coming from people with clear skin and nice facial features is kind of offensive/rude. Youtube has millions of people watching videos on how to clear up their skin from decades of suffering and Alicia Keys and Ciara, etc out here participating in this DUH! challenge, as in DUH, why wouldn't you look good if you're attractive with clear skin. Why is this even a challenge?!

  • Chhzz

I prefer standing. I hear you sis.

  • Chhzz

    Away

  • Allihave2say

When? Alicia ha on light makeup each time she appeared natural it was "natural" makeup.

  • Allihave2say

I need to see the back of her head, aka her real hair.

  • Marlika

????? Let me just walk out this thread and mind my business.

  • DeNice82

    I seen a couple of fellas ....?????

  • Fire & Ice

IKR! Clear skin and decent features make a huge difference.

  • Coffee1st

To love ourselves is not automatic equation of hate for others. What culture do you know of that does not hail itself??? Nevermind the celebs, I see my sisters of every hue and every size, everyday - who are the absolute bomb. I have a strange admiration for Nicole Kidman's beauty, and a few other non "black" women - but at the end of the day, my sisters are MY epitome of beauty. Why the hell not???
    I'm black.
    My momma black.
    My grandma's black.
    My sisters are black.
    My daughter's are black.
    My aunties are black.
I absolutely will not back down from this stance nor be apologetic for it. The world and many of our own already tell non black women that they are superior. I aint mad....I just disagree.
And who got blond hair weave??? I have no idea what you're talking about.

  • Coffee1st

Egg-xactly. Smh.... you know the indoctrination is real when we CAN'T LOVE WHAT WE ARE AND WHO WE CAME FROM.

  • Coffee1st

    Sit.
    Stand.
I'm not trying to hear that foolishness either way.
I am not trying to be ugly or argumentative. And nothing personal against you. But that logic irks THEE chyt outta me.

  • Malificent

Not being a hater but she got a hairline transplant and contoured her nose. Either way she is beautiful. It’s easy to do this when you look
like that. Kudos to the ones who don’t fit societal beauty definitions but still love themselves flaws and all!

  • Malificent

Ciara just did the same thing.

  • Skin Deep Beauty

And her hundred million dollar Husband and children LOVE HER! Shiiiid...she can afford to walk around bald headed and bra less and will wake up to her beautiful children and husband!!

  • Skin Deep Beauty

    No ma'am!

  • Chhzz

Like how u spelled the last few words.

  • Allihave2say

Dayum shame her claim 2 fame is tied 2 marrying russell n nothing else. She has been in the game gor years n folks r quiet when it comes 2 her music but makes a lot of noise when it comes 2 russell.

  • Malai

Vonda didn’t belittle any one group.. she got her point across without doing that.. however, you did mention “white women” so you brought that up first..

  • the guest

Ciara is model beautiful. I'm surprised she has not ventured into fashion.

  • the guest

I think he took a very nice photo.

  • Rhyme and Reason

About the hairline transplant, so it can be done?

Would it be like the commercials for men and women’s hair transplant “The Hair Club?”

Lastly, can hair grow back on it’s own from hair loss caused by wearing weaves with glue, like a whole crown of head?

A friend of mine now have to wear wigs, she says she’s bald!

  • Missy

    ?????

  • GeekGirl627

You won't catch Becky on there doing this...nope not EVA!

  • NorthDeKalb

Them eyebrows giving golden arch T’s

  • Nicol B

She has. She had a contract with Ford models I believe. It didn't last long. I don't know why. She is so nice on the eyes.

  • Nicol B

I know you meant well by trying to be all inclusive, but @Coffee1dt:disqus just gave you a true lesson in life. The world has told us (black women) forever that the standard for beauty is a pale skinny white woman preferably with blonde hair and blue eyes. Every image we saw growing up reinforced this. I don't know where you grew up, but she nailed it. I would extend a chair if she hadn't already.

  • WhooCares

    Mannn

  • WhooCares

    ???

  • dblogged

    ?

  • T Willis

Yeah I knew something was off about her hairline. I think gabby has something similar happening on her hairline. It must be the new in thing in Hollywood for black women. Wearing wigs that often are harsh on the hair line.

  • T Willis

    Lmao

  • T Willis

    ?

  • T Willis

We are a marginalized group, we have to make noise for our other black sisters, to let them know they are seen, heard, and beautiful. Other ethnicities neither need nor require such validation. Also, this space is for black ppl - to love, to uplift, and to support black ppl ??. We not here for that inclusive nonsense.

  • Renee

That skeletal system cannot be altered. The clavicle tells the facts?????

  • Neicey

I enjoy when people Know the definition of spatse and the difference b/w dense and sparse . Thanks for your comment.

  • jwoo250

Somebody mentioned she got a hairline transplant. I went and looked it up and all the hairlines look just like hers when women get transplants. Wow. They come up with everything to make you look perfect if you have the money of course.

  • Wildcat34

If she wanted to show her vulnerability, she would get off social media for a year! Probably would start breaking out in hives, anxiety attacks and all.....the need for attention is never lost on her.

  • Jordan’s Memory

look at all those beautiful black woman with flawless skin. I wish we could embrace this look more and stop wearing those god awful blonde wigs, weaves and tacky ass eyelashes! And don't get me started on the foundation that doesn't match your skin tone and makes your skin look like its melting. less is more people, don't let these ball players and rappers tell you otherwise. Love urself first before you allow anyone else to love you. OT, the dude at the end had me rolling with his pose. lmao we see you boo boo!

  • Bashi22

    All with flawless skins

  • B.Loveitt

Girl what! Men better learn to respect the everyday chick who's far from basic, the real actually natural beauties of the word.

  • B.Loveitt

Not shallow to me. I think many forget they call them "Makeup Artist" for a reason. You weren't rude.

  • B.Loveitt

Tell me about! All the people yelling she's NEVER had plastic surgery, she only had a boob job. Wait...isn't that plastic surgery? The 30,000 fans of her music and dance stylings said it's just weight loss and growing up. Bullshyt! Nose already crooked, on her way to her Jackson nose.

  • B.Loveitt

People did it before her too.

  • B.Loveitt

You sound ridiculous. If you want to uplift your own you can. THEY DO ALWAYS HAVE, ALWAYS WILL. They have been the standard of beauty. You go uplift the others you feel were left out.

    SMFHAU...

  • Rhyme and Reason

    Thanks, I will!!!

  • Chhzz

clearly you all do not understand Dr Maya Angelo..clearly you all did not read or understand what I said.
but as your bro I support you even when you do not understand and attempt not to.

If that clavicle is manipulated, the whole integrity of the body is compromised. It is too dangerous. In 1970 there were only 12 openly treated transgender adults. In 2006, there were thousands upon thousands. And a huge portion are now infants & children. If you want to know more on how Transgender Medicine began, look up John Money. Public figures make up a huge percentage! I am just fortunate not to worship these idols.
