During a press conference to announce his lucrative deal with the NFL on Wednesday, rap mogul Jay-Z blinked rapidly when a reporter asked him if he would kneel or stand during the National Anthem. Some of my readers expressed skepticism and demanded to see video of Jay-Z blinking rapidly.

The 50-year-old rap mogul was caught off guard by the question: "I'm sorry to put it this way, but if the National Anthem were playing, would you kneel or stand?"

"I think we're past kneeling. I think it's time to go into actionable items," Jay-Z responded.

Jay-Z came under fire for not including retired NFL quarterback Colin Kaepernick in his deal with the NFL. Kaepernick settled a discrimination lawsuit with the league, but he has expressed a desire to get back out on the field.

Jay-Z said he still supports Kaepernick, but there is money to be made.

The video is below.

I think there may be a similarity with how Kandi remains sorta neutral in issues, but her team comes for the other housewives. It's passive aggressive. Where there's smoke...you know the rest. I'm sure there was SOME conversation between Trina and her team about it. The choice to go public with it may not have been her choice though.

Absolutely a conversation was had between Trina and her team, I agree. No one would start a fire for no reason but at the same time she tried to level out the situation before it spiraled out of control. She blamed her team, told them to shut up and said she supports Nicki. It's just all laughable.

  • isis Osiris

Jay is not going to beg for a seat at the table hes going to demand you bring the table to him. Protesting is to bring awareness for change.. Colin lost his NFL contract then inked a million dollar deal with Nike. Jay doesn't need to ask Colin permission, he threw his support when he didnt perform at the superbowl half time, Now hes in charge of the halftime performances. You still want white people to like you, huh? Stop giving these ppl our culture, they want it so bad,pay me

  • Coy little wink

Brooklyn is one of the largest boroughs in New York and have always been diverse. As for the section in Brooklyn Bed-Stuy where Jay Z is from within the past few years the neighborhood has changed dramatically because of outside investors. How can we possibly be outraged at them when our very own didn't care enough to invest or build the neighborhood back then? I can speak on this topic because I grew up in that neighborhood and not far from where Jay Z used to live and sell his drugs to torment the community. Today, Bedstuy is one of the hottest places to live in New York and everybody is flocking to live there if they can afford it. I'm not mad I'm happy to say that I grew up there.

  • Chaseboogie The Prince

Wow. This made it worst. He didn't seem to have his thoughts together, nor make complete sentences. He seemed lost and thrown off guard. He didn't expect that question. He knew in that moment that he was a hypocrite and was being called out on it. Going around the room and asking people if they knew what the kneeling was about, everyone saying police brutality, then saying we're past that. No Jay, police brutality is not over which is why you were blinking like you were some mk ultra Illuminati puppet under mind control. He looked like a damn fool.

  • Starburst

    Lol! Jay-Z is not Jamaican.

Oh no maammm how does one let it slither between her legs without screaming bloody murder ??????? and hes a cheater too? Oh gawd ???

  • Diva_woman

People who don’t like Jay z already just finding a reason to be mad. What is the kneeling representing anyway? People who are upset probably couldn’t tell you. Colin said if he got his job back he would stand. Do we want the nfl to go bankrupt? Do we want the nfl to donate money to black communities (something majority of the players don’t even do)? Like what exactly is the goal and why are people mad?

  • interestingconcept1

If I use Sambo would anyone know what I mean? Got to know your audience.

  • Diva_woman

What exactly is the black side in this scenario. The nfl ain’t going nowhere and boycotting is doing absolutely nothing.

  • Ryan

Thank you - that's exactly who Jay's looking and acting like.

This is all surrounding the BAPS song Nicki and Trina did.

Trina's cousin (Bobby Lytes) and her A&R President were talking negatively about Nicki Minaj. The A&R dude did a whole interview and talked about how fake Nicki Minaj was and how she was dodging Trina and wouldn't respond to any texts. He claimed that Nicki was fake for doing the video with Meg the Stallion. But come to find out Trina didn't have any money for the video, radio or anything else related to the song, her album or her life.

  • Minx Mosaic

It's always broke ppl who have something to say about how ppl with money move. When I hear someone that's in the same tax bracket as Jay Z speak against what he's doing, that's when I'll listen. Until then, broke ppl words fall on deaf ears on my Earth. All y'all do is sit on the sidelines and heckle the players. Broke ppl have the mentality of, all ppl with major money had to sell their souls to get where they are... That's that slave mentality. We kneeled now WHAT'S NEXT? Marching and protesting has no real effect in 2019. Money is Power!

  • ALLMINE?

    U just found this out????

  • Seldomseen

Is his mother or grandmother Jamaican?

  • ALLMINE?

    No

  • Itzgoingdown

I don’t care about the symbolism and imagery of protest. We need to fight for TANGIBLES. The NFL needs to give blacks OWNERSHIP (real ownership not that 1% Jay-Z/nets scam) and more managerial/leadership positions (SEE THE NBA) any else is a waste of time.

All money ain’t good money and with that being said never trust someone making SIX FIGURES complaining about capitalism! ???

  • CookieMobster

This is a damn fine country that we live in and we all, despite the imperfections of our nation, should be damn proud that we were born here. It is a blessing and a privilege to be an American. For those reasons, I will always stand for the national anthem. Also, IDGAF who is in the white house if I'm invited (which will never happen) I am going.

    ..... Steps off soap box.

  • chan chan

My husband and I don’t watch football so ????? If it does absolutely nothing then most likely black folk still watching and spending money with the NFL because please believe if black folk stop buying the NFL video games, apparel, buying season tickets, and watching on tv it will make a difference because black people are the biggest consumers.

  • Facts and Receipts

Someone broached how is this going to work far as his ongoing recruiting of players through Roc Nation Sports? In the LEAST its a huge conflict of interest to be managing players and the entertainment.

At the MOST its unethical. bc some players contracts stipulate that they GOTTA participate in overall NFL events that...also have entertainment there. so he tryna pay himself twice. Either they aint caught on to that yet bc I doubt they tryna pay this BLACK MAN twice, or its gonna come up in the long run. THEN WHAT?

  • Dontgetdraggedputa??

    Right????? Ewww

  • Chaseboogie The Prince

Well you know white people not parting with too much of their money, so they probably are thinking they can pay Jay once for twice the work. I'm sure they are aware of his interests and put that in the contract. Jay couldn't stop smiling until he was asked that question in the end.

  • Chaseboogie The Prince

    LOL!

  • Facts and Receipts
  • Virgoqween

Exactly!!! They went out and got the black’s head nigg to do the half time show thinking they throwing us a bone. Jay shoulda got a group together and bought a team.

  • Virgoqween

What he did to occupy Wall Street was pretty gross too.

  • chan chan

Yea ok. He’s not ADOS. I know that for a fact and he can try and scrub his wiki saying he’s American but I know his parents are Jamaican. I’m done talking about it.

  • Virgoqween

They ain’t bring him anything but a halftime show...

  • chan chan

U didn’t have to say anything in the first place. I stand by my original statement.

  • Diva_woman

But what’s the purpose of all of that? The bus boycott was for equal rights and being able to sit up front on a bus and being treated equally. We boycotted restaurants to not have separate seating and to not have to sit out back. Why are people boycotting the NFL? How is boycotting the nfl going to affect police brutality? This literally makes NO sense at all. And people are mad that some are and aren’t boycotting and whether or not the NFL will “feel it” or if their pockets are affected. But what happens when their pockets are affected? Do they then end police brutality?

  • SingleGalCrazyWorld

  • Virgoqween

This the same way he tried to spin it when he worked with Barney’s racist asses

  • Rent em Spoons ?????????

Did I mention Colin to the quote you replied to? This is about jayz and his contradictions against his own merits. Listen had jayz never begged Trav , Rih and others to not perform then no one would have a big issue with him . Had he not said he was in kaeps corner then no one would question why he didn’t give Kaep a call , but he did say all those things and his actions were the exact opposite.

Open your eyes , it’s not about the move , it’s about the context in which and how he did this move . He went against his own merits and words. How you in Kaep corner but never gave him a call until 24 hours after ? He did it because he know he did some snake shit .

Also why did he encourage others to not perform ? Only an ignorant person gives this hypocrisy a pass.

There are ADOS who dont side with natural black citizens. Being an ADOS doesnt magically make you side with natural black citizens, nor does being from elsewhere make you ignorant of our plight. Its mad Caribbean posters here who "came to America" who absolutely get it. He was born here tho. And he is a conflicting, contridictory MESS currently either way

  • Diva_woman

If you think Jay z owed Kaep a call that’s one thing but to judge jay’s character or love for black people because he’s no longer blindly following a disorganized pointless protest is another. That kneeling did nothing and boycotting the nfl serves no purpose. Why should we continue to discuss a boycott that has no goal or purpose in sight. All it is right now is a talking point and fake barometer to rate someone as “woke” or “unwoke”. You can’t tell me a self made black billionaire is a sell out based on some foolishness like that. People tried to come for Gladys Knight last year with the same bs. Talk to me when you figure out the goal of boycotting the nfl. Until then you can keep your opinions on who or what ignorance is.

  • Rhyme and Reason

    People, it’s Ok to disagree!

    1. Some will view this as a victory!

    2. Others believe this was a straight-up coon move, Buckwheat 2.0, the little rascal!

    3. Many forgot or don’t know what was being protested, “police brutality, excessive force, fatalities,” that the NFL had nothing to do with, but a player used his celebrity and voice to protest the police killings.

Other players joined him in not standing to the America flag because they know regardless of their wealth and success, they, too, can easily die at the hands of a rogue cop! Kneeling is “their” way of protesting social injustice!

Jay-Z brokered a deal that is HUGELY advantageous for himself, and will provide some good things, but he had to denounce Kaep (also players kneeling) to do it for the ultimate personal gain!

PEOPLE know rhetoric and can see the finesse game by Jay-Z and the NFL!

Jay stood with Kaep, even after he got his Nike deal, and many supported Kaep (protest against police brutality and his loss of income) by buying his Nike products, increasing Nike sales!

Black entertainers boycotted the super bowel half-time show because Kaep wasn’t hired by any team in the NFL for protesting (refusing to stand to the flag) and to protest their own frustration with police brutality!

But, we’re stone cold capitalists and eat our own, and the deal was made!

I think people like Gladys need to be left alone over the anthem. IDK but at her age she cant be turning down gigs. And in her money she cant either. Mama Gladys needs to worry about her son Shanga running her an $8mil biz, the Chicken and Waffles spot into IRS trouble. She needed that money for her legal fight. I think that was wrong for how people did her singing it. Truly do. That is totally diff to me.

No Jay, police brutality is not over -------
Exactly, it's still happening after his 3 year stance, what has kneeling changed?

  • Yup, I said it

    yikes at that picture?

  • EMILY POST

I find it hilarious that the black community tries to take individual accomplishments of extremely narcissistic celebs as community victories...... jay z seems to like being black so he is rare. He is the American dream so many blacks worship him and they follow any celebrity with money like they are Jesus themselves. I mean he calls himself Hov right. ????? ... its that hollywood lib marketing that has so many of you people twisted up. i bought a jay z album but not going to worship him like he is the next coming.. following his commands just because. I like a song or two.

  • And then there is that!

So my honest question would be to everyone that opposes this, what will be your tangible long term solution? What will make you feel victory? Black men still play for the NFL and will continue. Black men are still being drafted by the NFL and will continue. Kaep got paid and has become extremely quiet and less visble. Players are still kneeling at the games and other sports. Please again tell me how we will make a change and have an impact on any sport if we aren't even in the room to have the discussion and have influence on the decision. What are your plans?

Jay-Z moves in his betrayal with stealth of a hungry lion....He makes his moves quiet and calculating. He made his unrepentant deal with the devil a long time ago so that he can make it to the top. I believe he had Tupac and Biggie killed. He needs to be protested. Now that he's over choosing the talent for super bowl, everybody should change the channel during half time. I'm going to start that movement amongst my friends and family and if its an entertainer I support, I will watch it on their website afterwards. I'm sick of this black hearted betrayal we have for our people. I don't like anything Jay-z, especially after this. Beyoncé better watch out, he might be cooking up something on her, if he hasn't already got her with something.

The NFL can start with an apology. We got it wrong. They are still acting like THEY dont get it which is a problem for ME personally. Like own up to it. Next do some scholarships at HBCUs in the names of those who have died at the hands of police brutality. I want Trayvon Martin and Eric Garner etc NFL funded scholarships at HBCUs across America. If they cant fund at the athletic collegiate level then those scholarships dont have to go to football programs. I do want them to go to young men tho. I want the NFL to fund BOYS CLUB programs in say the top 10 most violent cities in America. And that is a START

  • Myopinion

It's not the kneeling per se, it's why he's kneeling, which is to bring awareness to police brutality, this is the principle thing here. Jay-Z is one of the most influential black people living today, the powers that be knows that the majority of young black folks who have the strength and the stamina to protest is easily distracted by people like Jay-Z.

  • bb1812

Why do we have to be in Jay's tax bracket? Why can't we just have principles, convictions, stand for something no matter our tax bracket?

  • Md

I get that and I was for it in the beginning but Jay couldn't have put a stop to Colin's "movement" because nothing has been moved since day one. Well other than him not having a deal and players who kneeled losing money for doing so. What good is CONTINUING this "movement" if you're not getting a solution?

  • Look@m3
  • And then there is that!

Those are all great points. First off sometimes in life and business we have to learn to live with an apology that we will never get. 2. An apology means nothing if the behavior doesnt change. 3. If no one is at the table to bring forth those ideas there is no way that an already racist organization is going to do it own it's own. I can see Jay pushing for something with Trayvon Martin family because he works with them personally. Like my daughter principle whom is white said, we can't begin to be your voice because we aren't minorities. We need someone at the table to give those ideas that we otherwise wouldn't think about. Not unintentional they just aren't black so thints hit different when it doesn't impact your back door!

You know what you made the most amazing points and now I understand that we can't make moves outside of the box when the box needs to blown up from the inside. We must have someone on the inside to make the changes, however slow but something has to start the ball to rolling. You are right.

  • chan chan

    Oh ok

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

There are 32 starting QBs + 32 backups in this league. Most teams even have 3rd string QB's on the roster too. So there's easily a good 90 or so quarterbacks on NFL rosters... and we know for sure that not all 90 of them are better than Colin Kapernick.

32 teams and Kap still hasn't even gotten a tryout though? If the NFL is to be "forgiven" for the way they badly mishandled this, the question should be asked... why is there still no justice for Colin Kapernick himself, who still wants to play and is very able to play? I'm not willing to let Roger Goodell and the NFL off the hook on this so easily.

  • 100milesperhour

Told y’all yesterday his interviews reveal the true him, talking in circles w/o saying shat. What a fumble-mouthed idiot. So used to talking out both sides of his fat lips, he can’t answer questions directly. He needs to refrain from interviews like his wife. Neither of them has ever been accused of thinking fast on their feet.

  • Mr.LeBrickJames

Exactly. It's crazy how people think I'm not defined as a person by the amount of money I have, and I don't view anyone as better than me just because they happen to be rich.

Case in point... Donald Trump has lots of money, but he's morally bankrupt. I'd never want to switch places with him.

  • Minx Mosaic

The fact that you asked that question lets me know that regardless of my response to you, you still won't get it. Therefore, I won't bother trying to explain but have a lovely day.

  • Minx Mosaic

Your point is not valid in my opinion. All husband's don't cheat and all single women aren't unhappy. I was just taking a simple dig at ole girl. And you act like being a side chick is something to be proud of. Side chicks have issues as well, starting with true self worth. Of course, they'll never admit it though. But if you're a side chick and happy, by all means do you Boo.

  • hottlanta

I stand by what l said. Wendy flashing that ring as if is a trophy. Lala talking shyt like she dont need or want him in new Orléans but catches a plané the next day 2 b all up under him. Lela husband has how many kids. It is their fault for staying. B Smith cant help her situation but is a prime example that if u get sick u will not be taken care of the proper way. Those other ones r 2 blame because they chose 2 stay in these relationships. They get no tears from me.

  • PetiteButterScotch

If u zoom in you can see his bumpy lip line ? he’s supposedly responsible for giving Rihanna herpes...but I ain start this rumor. Ironically the same spot Rihanna n TI have similar “scars” on their lip...just an observation. Dnt attack me lmao

  • hottlanta

Wendy husband treated here like a side chick. Need l say more.

  • Let them eat cake

i think rihanna's scar was from when chris brown beat her up. the one on the edge of her lip.

  • Let them eat cake

lol omg ebony she was so funny

  • Myopinion

I have no problem with you standing by what you said but you act like they sent the side chicks over to their husbands...these are not boyfriends, you don't give up on your marriage that easily. So what LaLa caught a plane the next day to see her husband, that what she was suppose to do, she needed to point her finger in his face. How do you know B Smith is not being taken care of just because he has another woman, you don't know if she allowed him to take a woman when she found out she was sick, married people have those kind of conversations. They stayed in a marriage, not just any relationship, married people have so much tied up in their marriage especially after 20 years. Maybe they have good reasons to stay and have had that conversation as well. People who have never been married or never have had a successful relationship is always quick to judge someone about their relationship even though they don't know Sh*t about it. https://media2.giphy.com/media/xULW8O4s3CFOTpLla8/giphy.gif

The biggest zombies watching organize sports are black American males. Always trying to diss somebody need to look in the mirror and change the man in the mirror. I don’t care what anybody says about Jay Z at least he’s raising his kids their kids know who their daddy is unlike most of these males out here.

  • Tlowe89

Ohhh please Jay Z ain’t nothin more than a Uncle Tom disgusted as a black activist

  • Applebum

Some of my readers expressed skepticism and demanded to see video of Jay-Z blinking rapidly.
    ——————————————
I can’t!! ??? No one demanded anything. You could have added that clip in that post yesterday.

  • And then there is that!

Yes! I wonder if it was a no name black person, would the outrage be the same. Regardless of what anyone thinks we can't make impact outside the door.

  • Lee

Create universities that pay black men and women to start their own businesses

  • Just Ice

Jay-Z and his wife are employees, the industry wasn't prepared for The Technology Revolution, yes they lost money and was able to write it off but the masterminds decided that they would employ artist and write off their escapades in order to the books in the black. P.S. When artist etc. move to L.A. that's when it's official!

  • Just Ice

I know y'all don't like hearing the truth but he went conscious and the sports brass will try to destroy you just look up Craig Hodges, Chicago Bulls. He just said to Jordan "your big enough to cut Nike out the picture and hire a black staff and make it a black company!" and the Bulls got rid of him, but he won the All-star 3point shot champion The NBA let him defend his title but he couldn't wear a/Bulls NBA jersey. But Kap got The NFL for collusion!

  • hottlanta

People who doesnt tolerate bs from their mate bcas they know their worth n deserve better r successful for leaving the marriage. People who have never been married know their worth n aint trying to get married 2 please the masses like yourself just to say they r married r successful as well. Marriage was never meant 2 b a game board as to keep score as 2 who win n who loses. U sound like u r married n waiting on your husband who is only recognized by paper waiting on him 2 b a man to u.

  • J2PC

    *disguised as...

  • J2PC

At some point of any protest to get results you have to start collecting signatures for "a bill" and then team with powerful lawmakers to help push it into law. Kneeling is a start but it has not stopped the killings.

That's why many protests for Black causes lose it steam. They don't care about all the hootin' and hollerin', that is why most of them just wait for the hurricane season & cold winter to set in and turn the cameras away to avoid prolong media attention.

There has to be a Part 2. Accountability tied to the legality of it all to give it a real meaning.

  • PetiteButterScotch

Yeah that would be believable but then there’s the pic of Rihanna talking to Chris and she clearly has bumps all over her lips and he’s staring at it like ? ?

  • And then there is that!

How do you expect that to be done if no one is sitting at the table. Y'all expecting the same people that broke it to fix it. Yea nah not happening. Sorta like someone hurting you and you expect them to heal you. We need someone on the inside to create change!

  • Md

My point EXACTLY. I have NEVER bought an album of his even though I think that he's very talented, he's irrelevant for this "movement", give us part 2 of your agenda or be quiet!

  • Simone

Kaepernick settled with the NFL for an undisclosed amount. Before that, he turned down contract offers.
    https://www.google.com/amp/s/syndication.bleacherreport.com/amp/2791321-john-elway-colin-kaepernick-had-his-chance-to-be-here-was-offered-contract.amp.html

  • Psychic Lulu

    ???You deliveredT thaaaaaank you?

  • Overpower Radio

He's full of it. We all knew the injustice because it was world news. Kaepernick didn't kneel to make people aware. He kneeled due to the conflict of pledging allegiance to a flag that does not represent FREEDOM AND JUSTICE FOR ALL.

THAT is the problem, and THOSE INCIDENTS of injustice are STILL occurring around the country, so the problem HAS NOT BEEN SOLVED.

The problem with the NFL is that it infringed upon a players freedom to honor and represent justice for people of color. His actions were peaceful (non disruptive and non violent) and he got blackballed. Kaepernick not having a job is a problem. Jay Z supported him when it was convenient. I wouldn't be surprised if he invests in the prison industrial complex after doing a Kalief Browder documentary.

Jay is 1000% right. The democraptic agents are working overtime to turn this into something.

  • Facts and Receipts

Im sorry but this comment needs a gold star or something. Truly damn it does.

  • Truth Or Die

Both Kap and Jay-z are BOULE agents working on behalf of their elite masters who control the world. Their job, just like the police job is to protect the SYSTEM which is why 8 years of a black man in office didn't resolve the issue of police brutality and most certainly nothing in the sports/entertainment field will BUT they will give you symbolic gestures of "progress" to keep the masses from threatening the SYSTEM itself and that's all that matters. The HOUSE nggr never liberated the FIELD nggr but he sold him on the idea so he won't raise up in rebellion...and nothing has changed

  • Skin Deep Beauty

Jay STILL DON'T GET IT... HIS A CAMEL FACE, TREABRANCH HAIR, SELFISH MANIPULATING AZZ wanted every black entertainer to boycott the NFL SUPERBOWL yet I the see year was negotiating thus Union so he could spearhead to entrainment part of the superbowl.. THROW THE WHOLE SEAN JAY Z CARTER AWAY...

  • Moon Lee

So when do we have a seat at the table??? Funny, how our ancestors knew when, and how to take a seat. Now all we want to do is express our opinions on social media! I'm not saying everything about this is Kool. I'm only saying sit back, watch the outcome. Then speak. ???

  • EMILY POST

Black Celebrities don't do enough to get all this damn celebration y'all freely give out to others for their individualist accomplishments. It is more disturbing that people need leaders so bad that they just follow people in the music industry blindly.
I never understood the entire NFL issue in the first place. The NFL owners can hire who in the F they want. They add and replace players each year. Black people not running a damn thing in the NFL first off.
Jay Z is just capitalizing off the controversy... He getting in where he fit in but they can save all these BS symbolizing. IF the NFL wanted to help the Black community a community that the majority of their American players come from they could but they choose not too.. No one needs a social Justice commercial or another feel good started from the bottom NFL story.

  • Skin Deep Beauty

    Period!

  • yvette46

Its all about the cash flow..
