Suspended Falcons quarterback Mike Vick was sentenced to 23 months in a federal prison today for taking part in a dog fighting conspiracy that involved illegal gambling and killing dogs. Vick received one month less than two years for time already served. Vick also faces state charges in addition to the federal conviction.
Vick, who appeared in court wearing prison stripes, could have been sentenced to five years by District judge Henry E. Hudson. Vick apologized to the court and his family but the judge admonished him for forgetting his fans: "You need to apologize to the millions of young people who looked up to you."
