Rapper Lil’ Mama, real name Niatia Jessica Kirkland, lost her mom to cancer over the weekend according to Allhiphop.com. Her mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2003 but the diagnosis gave Kirkland the resolve to work harder toward her goals. Lil’ Mama, who got her nickname from her mom, was in Atlanta performing when she got the news of her mother’s passing.
I know first hand how horrible it is to lose a close family member to cancer. By the time death occurs you actually get solace from the fact the person is at peace rather than being in constant pain. My heart goes out to her.
I truly feel for her. By the grace of God I still have both of my parents, but my family has suffered many loses this year, most recently last week. My heart goes out to her and her little sisters. I’ll be praying for them.
It hurts more that she didn’t get to see her right before she passed because she was on stage performing. This is truly sad & may her mother rest in peace.
I read this on another site. This is very sad. I hope that she can overcome this is be able to have a successful career. Her mother would have wanted that:)!!!

RIP, my condolences To lil mama and her family…@ Brinabelle soulja boys mom is not dead…they cleared the rumors on the radio a few days ago.
RIP..I lost my dad in 2005 to cancer, when you are close to a loved one it hurts so badly..the things you wanted to say that you never got a chance too..the good thing is her mom was able to see her daughter in the limelight..i’m sure she passed on extremely proud of her babygirl
What hurts the most is the fact. That she’s still really young. It has got to be really hard for her. I hope she can get through this. Even though it’s gonna be extremely hard. I can’t even imagine the pain she’s feeling right now.. may her mom RIP

damn thats terrible I feel so bad cause she is still young I can’t even imagine losing my mom & I’m old enough to deal with it a lil better than she probably is. I want to say a special prayer for her & hopes that she maintains & stays strong & know that her mom is still with her always!!

Awwhh this is soooo sad, I pray that GOD gives her strength to be able to continue to do what she loves. I remember seeing a pic of her and her mother at some award show, she looked really good and proud. I couldn’t imagine going through this either. @2bme sorry for your loss also.

This a so sad! At least her mom is finally at peace! My mother had breast cancer back in 2005 and thank GOD it’s in remission! My condolences to Lil Mama!!
