Fan Mail: A witness to the Darius Miller beating speaks out

The email (after the break) is a first-hand account of what happened to celebrity fitness trainer Darius Miller in the early morning hours of December 26th. Please be mindful that this email is only one account of what happened that night. As you know, several people can witness the same incident and give differing accounts of what they saw.

Hopefully more witnesses will come forward to clear up the discrepancies in the multiple versions of events we’ve read so far.

But one thing about the following email did capture my curiosity: why was the Mayor’s daughter Kai Franklin hollering “BMF”? Is she that gangsta? And didn’t she agree to testify against BMF in ongoing federal investigations or did she just agree to whatever plea deal the feds offered her to avoid a lengthy prison term?

Hi Sandra i visit your site often and have always thought of your stories as credible and i enjoy reading your entries. I am one of the promoters that threw the crazy party at Verve Christmas Night. 01 Entertainment was contracted by a friend of mine to video tape the event as well as provide DJ services for the second floor of Verve. Darius along with TIWA from TIWA Works was up and down Peachtree promoting there New Years Eve Party at Copelands. Later in the night the “thugs” as you refer to them as 01 Entertainment where heading to their car and there cameras were still rolling. I witnessed the whole incident. The Franklin Daughters didn’t want to [be] videotaped.

Instead of asking politely the Franklin Daughters were very rude and a cussing match between 01 Entertainment & The Franklin Daughters ensued. Darius (whom i have known for years because he does Copelands on Sundays) stepped in and tried to take up for Kai and Kali but really didn’t know what was goin on because he came over to the argument during the middle of it. Some more words exchanged about what each side “could get done” to each other but at that point Darius was the aggressor. He started saying stuff like he was goin to his car (insinuating that he was about to retrieve a gun) One of them Fraklin girls yelled out BMF a couple of times.

At that point the rest of 01 Entertainment had arrived and Darius was still talkin tough so he got hit. It wasn’t this brawl the news and newspaper are making it out to be. Only about 5 blows between 01 Entertainment & Mr. Miller were exchanged. While Darius was trying to avoid gettin hit he slipped and hit his head on the pavement. While on the ground they kicked him a couple times and it was over. I don’t condone what 01 Entertainment did I think it was an accident and they didn’t intend on severely injuring Darius.

The following day when one of them called my phone and I warned them of the severity of there actions they were in disbelief because they felt like it was just a minor scuffle which it was. My few interactions with 01 Entertainment have been pleasant and they have never come off as being a gang of Thugs. I just wanted to let you know what really happened from a first hand account.

This isn’t much differant than what I read at ajc.com. What I was most surprised by was the ages of the mayor’s daughters. They are grown women. If I recall correctly they are both in their 30s. Are they not educated? I mean what is the deal with them?

I have never been a big fan of Atlanta. Black folks really try hard to be fly out there and it just seems fake. I thought of it as a wannabe black Hollywood. Now I have to take it back. The more I hear about it, the more it reminds me of Detroit. Full of crime and corruption and a plethora of strip clubs.

Janet was probably sulking because she would have preferred to be in Vegas or Miami or maybe chilling at home as she has never been a party animal.

This man is in a coma for being a gentleman. It could have been handled differently by all parties involved. I do pray that he pulls through for the sake of his young daughter and the men involved. This could easily turn into a second degree murder charge.

Wow, so because they didn’t know of his injuries that means they didn’t mean to do it or have it go that far!! This goes back to a man being a gentleman & a female staying in her place & knowing when to let it go & when I say that I mean some men don’t care if your a female or not they will approach you & try to fight you like a man if you present yourself that way granite they had no reason to contine video taping these women if they didn’t want them to & as far as one of the ladies yelling out BMF that lets you further know what type of people they affiliate with so either way Darrius stepped in trying to help these women out & wound up getting hurt in the process the only thing that matters is that mans health & well being the men that did this will get dealt with regardless & as far as the ladies well what else can be said, to me they are the only ones that knows the whole truth but the question is will they say anything about it.

You know what, this really pisses me off because this guy who “supposedly” witnessed what went down doesn’t know what the **** he’s talking about.

1) if he really witnessed it, the police would’ve had his version of the story in which they didn’t.

2) he just said he called 01 Entertainment and told them how serious the injury was the next day which is a LIE. 01 Entertainment immediately went to their myspace page and took off their pictures, but they didn’t do that fast enough. People who REALLY witnessed the incident immediately went to their myspace page and SAVED their pictures. Nice try though, but you trying to save these sorry ass bastards isn’t going to work.

3) If he witnessed the incident, how could he say Darius made a statement saying he was going to his car as if he was going to get a gun? HELLLLLLLOOOOOO! Everyone knows Darius doesn’t carry around a gun and he’s not violent. He would NEVER state that he would go to his car as if he were to get a gun. Get your story straight.

4) 01 Entertainment are a bunch of scary ass men (or should I say boys) who are willing to say anything to get themselves out of trouble. 24 years old and now he’s in some real tough shit that he can’t get out of.

5) Leave this situation alone. What is done is done. Darius is in a coma and there’s nothing 01 Entertainment can say or do to change that. I don’t care if they say it was an accident, that’s why VIOLENCE is never the answer. What, you just wanted to hurt him for a short period of time? Come on, how stupid do you really sound? Accident or no accident, karma is a bitch!

This is such an awful tragedy…Darius and his family are in my prayers. In an attempt to offset any misguided information regarding this situation, Darius is not the father of the child in the picture. Actually, the profile of the gentleman in the back (shaking hands to the left of the picture) looks to be her father. Whom ever provided this picture must have mistaken the child for being his own because Darius used to date and is still friends with the child’s mother (and father).

wow was the author of this email apart of the crew. To me it sounds as if she is trying to depend their actions. I hate to hear this happened to anyone, This man can easily loose his life over something so silly. 01 Entertainment should be ashamed and embarssed for their actions. Regardless if he was being an hero or if he aggressor. No one deserves the beaten he got. Hopefully all the men turn themselves in to the police. As the author tries to protray them as law obeying citizens when there actions are more like those of thugs.

I wouldn’t be surprised if she was a closed friend of a member of 01 Entertainment or even a family member.

This ‘WITNESS’ whose “THE REAL TRUTH” story will smell like the REAL BULLSHIT by the time i’m done typing this message!

1st things first.. i… Tiwa of Tiwaworks WAS NOT at the scene. I was not walking the strip passing out flyers with Darius. I was not hanging with Darius that night. nor was i downtown Atlanta that evening/early morning. I was at home…resting!

2nd thing. I spoke to Darius that evening..letting him know that i wasn’t coming downtown anymore to meet him and to give him flyers. Plus i suggested he could go to Django for the christmas party with the friends he was hanging with. Darius and i were not promoting our event that night because i was at home and Darius was out enjoying the christmas evening.

3rdly. your story is full of big holes and not credible at all..since you claimed you saw me downtown that night passing flyers up and down the strip. (sorry but i dont promote to 18+ crowds when my events are grown n sexy..not young and thugging.) How do i know it was an 18+ crowd at verve? It was all over facebook and myspace events. Plus i know for a fact that you are not telling the truth about how Darius got jumped went down..because another girl on the scene (not the Franklin sisters) said one of those guys punched darius from behind.. causing him to hit his head hard on the ground then she saw one of the other guys stomp darius in the chest seriously hard while he was laying on the ground. Plus I personally heard her tell the story over and over in the hospital that wednesday afternoon to people who wanted to know what happened. She has no reason to lie nor taint the story! Think about it!!

So young man make sure your story doesn’t have holes in it before you start calling name out in BOLD as if you are making statements that are 100% factual and they were the God Honest truth!

It seems like you want to defend your friends 01 entertainment.. but since now your story has been highly discredited..and are full of holes …. i suggest you retract your story and think long and hard about what you think you saw.. who you think you saw.. and what you think went down before you write anymore emails!

Bird, from what I understand (from the local paper and news media), 01 Entertainment was at Verve and Darius and the Franklin sisters were at the club/restaurant, DJango’s (sp?), which is next door to Verve. DJango’s caters to a much older crowd. The incident occurred in the parking lot a block away from both locations. My understanding is that both parties happen to leave the clubs at the same time…01 Entertainment was filming as they were walking out and saw the Franklin sister’s with their 2 other friends; while continuing to film, the ladies asked them not to do so, but an argument ensued once all parties reached the parking lot. Mr. Miller intervened, and what happended after that is still under investigation.

I really hope that this man recovers from his injuries. Beyond that I hope that he recovers without neurological or cognitive deficits. This all boils down to some BullS*(%. The franklin girls need to keep their popular for nothing but mess tales in the house. If you don’t want to be seen or photog’d keep ya a@# in the house. It is not like there isn’t reason for unwanted attention to be directed at Kai right now. She is a mess!!!

Well, JamesfromGoodtimes, if you heard Darius is a good guy, why would you believe this story that “TheRealTruth” wrote. You see he stated that Tiwa from Tiwaworks was there and Tiwa wrote himself that he wasn’t there. This guy isn’t credible. You can’t seriously believe this story. You can tell that someone from 01Entertainment wrote that letter. Plus, why would someone stomp on a man who is laying still on the ground?

This is an account of someone trying to cover themselves after something horrible happens. Instead of standing up and being accountable for their actions, they are trying to turn it into a name game. For the record, TIWA was not with Darius during the attack and Darius was not at Verve promoting Copeland’s. Due to the ongoing investigation of Atlanta PD, the parties there that night are not able to speak.

Therefore, this is all heresay. This person calling him/herself TheRealTruth was not there at the location because if he or she were they also would be a witness and not allowed to speak.

Please understand that this is about Darius and his life in the balance and instead of speculating (spreading the gossip), please let everything that happened in the dark come to the light because it will.

To TheRealTruth, Think about it right now you are wasting your time talking about accounts that you can not prove and trying to play lawyer–you might want to leave that up to Page Pete or whoever else you are going to get to represent you. Collectly, you may want to come together because each and every one of you have a different story any TIMI is right the stories you tell have a bunch of holes. To late nobody trully believes you.

It really doesn’t matter who you get anyway because APD has all that they need and we are confident that they will continue their efforts and respect that.

Again, the family is focused on Darius in his time of need and those who know Darius know that he is not an aggressor. He was not the aggressor in this case as well, please support Darius too during this time by not responding to the ignorance that this person has put forth.

The whole 01 Entertainmnet statements, comments and everything else reeks like fermanted ass dog defecation.

Everybody knows Darius knows that he is far from a thug plus he is a very friendly person. He doesn’t have to pretend for anybody because he knows a lot of people and they know what he does from training to promoting his parties.

He came to assist 2 females (even if they were the Franklin sisters) because guys were getting at them. We all know how guys with a video camera get and I am a guy. I can pretty much replay the whole incident in my head on how that happened. So lets just state some facts

1. 01 Entertainments attorney stated that NOONE from 01 Entertainment was affiliated nor involved which is already a bold faced lie because Apollo Holmes is a rapper from the group Darkside Trilogy which is an 01 Entertainment act. I can post the mug shot and their promo shit if somebody needs me to.

2. Why the hell would they film anybody without consent anyway. Somebody put a camera in your face I would be pissed too especially how many people misuse footage in todays world doesn’t matter who they are. If they would move their stupid asses on maybe Darius never had to come to their aid.

3. Also why would any men challenge a group of guys without knowing if they are packing in the first place. Darius is not dumb.

4. If you are SO INNOCENT why didn’t you come clean right after the incident?????? Instead ALL of their myspaces were taken down, they remove any picture or video linking to them.

5. A statement was not issued 3 something days after. I am sorry if I was falsely accused I would offer myself for investigation immediately to prove my innocence. I would not go into hiding at all because if I didn’t do it. I ain’t got shit to fear.

6. These assholes played thug that night and I am pretty sure they bragged about how he knocked Darius out, just like these dumb asses do. Now that they found out that they are in some deep shit, they want to cry good citizens. **** you, go to jail. We ain’t with these whole thug shit no more. These stupid little thug acting asses, I ain’t saying kids because we have old asses mf’s that act the same way contributed to first having Sundays taking away from us, then the club hours rolled back, now they shut down buckhead completely, this is the reason why Dekalb wants to change their bill for serving liquor.

I saw some white people post the incidents on their blogs and it was named “Celebrity Trained beaten into a Coma in “Apelanta”.

THis is the same reason why Jena 6 is happening to us.

Anyways. Hopefully Darius will pull through without any damages and he can move on with his life.

Sandra, honey, I don’t know how long you’ve been in the ATL, but I was around since way back in the day. There is a certain “click” of shall we say, ATL black “elites” for lack of a better word, whose offspring seemed to have a penchant for getting into trouble. Buzzy Jackson for one, and there are many others whose very recognizable pedigrees “protected” their public reputations for the most part. Anyway, what I’m saying is ish like this-involving the mayor’s daughter is certainly not news, nor, IMO very surprising.

Oh, and Bird, please don’t let the silly antics you see on the blogs taint you against the ATL. It is a beautiful, cultural, vibrant city. Next time you visit avoid all the places you see hyped up in videos and on certain blogs. ATL has some of the best “grown and sexy” spots in the country. But, I feel where you’re coming from. First off, I feel bad for the state they left Darius in. The whole situation turned out tragic.

What urks me is the headache I received trying to decipher this story from some of the above comments. Some of you have terrible grammar and can’t seem to piece together a simple paragraph with your lack of punctuation and CAPITALIZATION.

By the way, I know both the little girl’s mother and father (and that was the father behind Darius in the picture). I also know that Darius and the father have a very good relationship.

Without going on a tangent and losing focus on this tragic event, please let the situation rest regarding the child. She is lucky to have many wonderful individuals in her life, but she only has one father.

One year later and Darius hasn’t come out of the coma.

Keep his mother and family in your prayers. I got serious chills just thinking about him on Christmas day (exactly 1 year from this incident).
