It’s almost a done deal: Sen. Barack Obama will soon announce former presidential hopeful John Edwards as his running mate, Vice president on the Democratic ticket! In a surprise move, Edwards officially endorsed Obama as the Democratic nominee on Wednesday.
The endorsement was well timed by Edwards to shift the media focus from Hillary Clinton’s convincing win in West Virginia back to Obama.
“Brothers and sisters, we must come together as Democrats,” Edwards told a cheering crowd of three thousand at a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan. “We are here tonight because the Democratic voters have made their choice, and so have I.”

heeey this might work!
Lets get out for the rest of those left to vote in the primary. The Obama/ Edwards ticket sounds good. Obama took the spot light away from Hillary and her win in W. VA with the endorsement of John Edwards. I say great timing.
Edwards will be able to regain a sizeable chunk of Hillary supporters for the Obama ticket… This works…
World News Tonight made it seem as though Barak was not dressed down enough to go into a car manufacturing plant with a suit and tie on. Was he suppose to wear a hard hat blue jeans and and flannel shirt? Which BTW is my weekend attire minus the hard hat. Edwards campainged his butt off when he was running for Prez. He knows the “white working class voters”. Hillary stated earlier this week that Obama did not know the needs of the “white working class voters” and probably put all her eggs in her little basket. Obama had a card up his sleeve by the name of John Edwards. lmbao, well lmwao.
i guess nobody paid any attention to the 2000 presidential campaign, because Edwards lost. this is a bad mistake if its true. sen Edward wont give him not one southern state. he wont even give him Edwards state of north Carolina. i think he needs to pick someone who will help him balance the angry white male voters who will come out the wood work to vote for mccain.
when Edwards was a senator, he was considered an absentee senator because didnt spend much time in his own state and couldnt even win a re election. certainly he could have convinced Hillary to run as vp or chose a democratic governor who could atleast give him a state.

This is why I love this site. Ppl with a voice. I am not one for a Obama/Clinton ticket. Times are a changing and Edwards endosement does go a long way.
“not one southern state” teecee did u not notice that Obama was successful in the south already?
That would be a good ticket but I thought Edwards said that he would not run for vice president?
@missmiami John Edwards DID state that he was NOT intrested in Running as VP on ANYONE’S ticket …
not to dismiss the importance of his endorsment … it could not have come at a better time …
Edwards endorse a candidate he previously blasted as inexperienced, hypocritical and lacking substance will not help Obama with voters looking for real change. This is not a good move for Obama and Im not even an Obama supporter!:)
#5teecee-
and I guess you don’t watch the 2008 primaries because Obama already won North Carolina (LOL). I think it is a excellent idea because Obama needs the support from a person who is liked by White middle class/ blue collar southerns (and Yes, they like Edwards) . Hillary made a statement that Obama can’t carry the White middle class votes. Now that Edwards has endorsed Obama- Obama can have the “swing voters” vote for him. YOU SHOULD WATCH CNN;-)
Oh yeah, Edwards has not said anything about being Obama’s running mate as VP. He just gave Obama his endorsement (support).
Edwards will not be able to capture the vote. Him endorsing Obama means absolutely nothing. Did you see the polls when he was running???
Loving it:)!!!!
@5 teecee
Can you please send me the link to where you got your information cause I’ve searched long and hard and can’t find any truth in what you say…True indeed he lost the 2000 election but that doesn’t make him less of a better candidate…It is negative people like you, that try to put a damper on a hopeful situation…and Hillary as VP..come on that will never work.
I like Edwards a lot. Before he dropped out of the race I was leaning toward him as my candidate of choice. I don’t know if he will be Barack’s running mate, but if he were that would work for me. My dream ticket is Obama/Gore although I know it’s doubful. Who wants to be VP to two differant presidents? The fact is Al Gore puts his money where his mouth is. He is a proven advocate of the environment and I’m really feeling that.
obama has not announced this man as his running mate sandra. i am a member of the press here in raleigh and this is a tad bit misleading. you make it sound as if obama has already decided that edwards is his running mate–which he has not. until there is an announcement made officially i think you should remove this.
just my thoughts on the whole thing.
And what is up with George Bush speaking out against Barack in Israel? I guess he knows what Hillary refuses to accept, which is that Barack will be running against John McCain for the presidency. If the republicans are going to start going hard against Barack then it is really time for Hillary to step down so that the Dems can show a united front against the Republicans.
I for one have always thought the US was showing extreme cockiness for their refusal to sit down with our enemies until they essentially prove they are no longer enemies. There is nothing wrong with dialog and everything wrong with judging someone elses beliefs. I’m with Barack on this one and always have been even before he became my choice for baby daddy…..I mean president.
I’m not feeling Edwards…this ticket in not electable.
Edwards literally has NO experience.
I would prefer a running mate who had military experience. This would allow Barak to appeal to independents, republicans and middle of the road voters.
Edwards doesn’t represent change. He represents special interests.
BOOOO to Obama!
@17kwallace577
You’re absolutely right this can be very misleading.

Sandra often puts her own spin on stories. Really all she is doing is including her opinion in the facts. As we see from the comments people often take the whole thing as fact. Like when she said that the Diddy/Cassie photos were taken during the filming of Notorious when that clearly was not true. I don’t think that Sandra meant for people to take it as the truth, but they did.
Sandra, where did you get this info from? Did one of your so called inside source tell you that Barack has chosen John Edwards as his running mate? Stop telling lies disguised as news. No reputable news organization has even hinted about this…..stick to the celebrity gossip wagon and leave the real news business alone.
OMG-ENDORSED NOT RUNNING MATE….PEOPLE PLEASE WATCH THE NEWS (EVEN THOUGH IT’S FILTERED). EDWARDS JUST GAVE AN ENDORSEMENT & NOTHING ELSE. ENDORSEMENT=SUPPORT NOT RUNNING MATE!!!!!!!!
Oprah, Tom Hanks, The kennedys, have all endorsed Obama, but we don’t speculate any of them being Obama’s running mate as VP.
Hillary won’t be a good running mate. Conspiracy thought of the hour is that Hillary will take Obama out if she is VP- that way she will become President. The Woman is too hungry for the White House, and she will do whatever is needed to take Obama out. I DON’T TRUST HER.
Thank you Zidane and Kwallace577!!!!

What do you mean by experience? No one has presidential experience who hasn’t been president and the same goes for VP.
As for Edwards representing special interest, that is not true. Edwards has been very outspoken against special interest and like Barack he didn’t accept any money from them. As we all know Hillary is all about special interest and now they have left her high and dry and her campaign is in debt as a result.
Obama 08!
ya’ll should know by now that this is a blog for ENTERTAINMENT….not news….sandra lie 80% of the time on this site.
Lets just say the people who have this “so called experience” do less than the ones who didn’t have experience. This experience talk is nothing, but talk.Look at Bush, you would thought learning from his dad that he had some experience, but he doesn’t at all.All they interested is in oil and gas.
This might can work.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
he was successful in the DEMOCRATIC PRIMARY, not the GENERAL ELECTION. the general election will be in the fall of 2008 !!!!!
Jess Jackson won southern states during the primary back in 84 as well. for Sen. Obama to be successful hes going to have to have someone on the ticket who will counter the southern evangelical voters who are both [black, white, and Hispanic]who vote not based on reality but a moral conscience.

look, i want sen Obama to win,but if he makes a mistake he wont. remember we have only had 2 black senators and 2 black govenors in the last 100 yrs, so take off your rose colored glasses.
you dont need a link, you are chatting with someone who is very familar with NC politics. you might want to search the nc paper editorials. with each election they list vulnerable or weak elected officials. Edwards was on that list. Now, being a from nc, i can tell you the pulse of the people. i having volunteered to worked on many electoral campaigns, ranging from local to state wide. vice chaired my local district and youth voters for the democrat party back in the day.
N. Carolina, like many southern states, is what we call a switch party state, meaning that it vote republican presidentially and senatorial, but votes democratically for state wide elected positions. to win southern states one must both appeal to the traditional conservative democrat and republican voters. did you know that as much as 7% of the black voters vote republican because of their faith views on religion, homosexuality, and abortion ? i learned that back when i was a high school kid working for jim hunts campaign against jesse helms. Edwards did not come back visit nc once he got elected, he wanted to be president and the republicans saw this and painted him as such. Elizabeth Dole has been listed as a weak/ beatible senator because she doesnt come back to nc to vist, give pork barrel, etc….
after this i am out for the day. but i beg to differ about john edwards and sen. dole not coming back here after they were elected. john edwards not only came back here, he was a resident here for almost a year after he was elected to the senate. his daughter was still enrolled here in raleigh in high school and they did not want to uproot her in her senior year. he commuted back and forth to dc during that time.
and senator dole was just here in downtown raleigh on the back of a motorcycle during the parade for the troops in downtown raleigh on april 28. saw it with my own two peepers….
Follow up (so everybody can stop arguing,LOL):
WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Former presidential contender John Edwards said on Friday he would not be Democratic front-runner Barack Obama’s running mate, but did not rule out taking a role in an Obama administration.
“Won’t happen,” Edwards told NBC’s “Today” program when asked if he would be Obama’s vice presidential pick. “This is not something I’m interested in.”
^^^^ Link please?
