Here’s the full episode of the Tyra Banks exposé on skin bleaching in the black community. Just a note to let you know that most chemicals used in skin bleaching creams were outlawed years ago by the FDA.
So if you’re currently using skin bleaching creams, you’re not getting the full on effect unless the product was smuggled in from a foreign country (like Africa) which still allows the use of said chemicals.
I LOVE BEING CHOCOLATE BROWN!
A damned shame.
I guess Tyra would know .. she looks lighter and lighter as the years go by …
Can we get a non- depressing/parents these days are insane/this world is coming to an end post Sandra?
This site is melancholy HJEAVY today
Something good/positive is going on in the world
HEAVY**
Listen…I refuse to go without my “PALMERS FADE MILK” , in the black hair aisle at wal mart! I don’t give a Rat’S @$$ about what anyone has to say about it!
I was a tomboy and I will spend the rest of my life fixing that!
@ Kymystry:
Kudos. I was thinking the same thing.
Haven’t finished the video, but wondering why they keep doing it. If they have all been bleaching for so many years and still are not light skinned why haven’t they stopped ? Unless they think their current complexions are “light”. ???
I hear people saying things about lighter supposedly being treated better but in every day life I have yet to see it (I am not light). It’s too bad that the people with the good hair/light skin fixations don’t see that the real problem is how they view themselves and how other “color struck” people are view light skin.
So sad.
Bleaching creams/fade creams are not meant to make you lighter!
It’s supposed to be used to balance skin discoloration/hyperpigmentation. Like scars, dark marks, etc. I’ve seen some people with those real dark stretch marks. Fade creams are perfect for that!
It’s a reason why FDA won’t approve it because in the long run, like a Tan is going to age the hell out your skin. Can’t stand self-loathe momofuckas.THEY STILL GONE SEE A BLACK n**** so what’s really the problem?
@ Divine (hey chickee) .. I got a lighterner from my dermatologist to even out my complexion .. I have dark circles under my eyes from years of rubbing due to extreme allergies …
I LOVE my cinnamon bronw skin .. just HATE the dark circles that age you like a mug !!!
INFORMATION ALERT!
AFRICA IS NOT A COUNTRY!
You may now carry on with with the misinformation.
KYM!!!!! Hey MAMA!! You got a red dress on your profile?
I have dark cirlces, too. It’s genetic. My mom has them, my sister has them. I use this Mary Kay eye cream that is divine! Look…you can look in my medicine cabinet and find all kinda beauty treatments…Fade milk, eye cream White Strips. (which work wonders, by the way) and I love them all!
LMAO!!!!!!
Wow….Africa is a country these days! DAMN! Can’t get away with nothing around ya’ll!
i can’t wait for the day when a black women can just love herself just because.
divinebrown,ur crazy hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
I’m happy to have dark skin I LOVE IT. I say that I am beautifully brown. My momma knew what she was doing when she named me Candy, and my grandma always called me her lil chocolate drop. I’m sitting here with my Hersheys Chocolate t-shirt on right now, feeling beautifully brown
Lol, if I was them, maybe I would change my name and not my appearance if they want to get accepted by the massa.Their stories are sad and cliche’.”Oh the lighter skin girl was always picked.” PUHHHHHHHHHHLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.
Yep @ Divine .. I was at my 25th High School Reunion .. and I was the ONLY one in a Red Dress .. needless to say .. I was FIERCE !! … lol
YOU HAVE TO TRULY BE COMFORTABLE IN THE SKIN YOUR IN
BECAUSE ON ONE HAND IT’S THE KUMBAYA/SISTERLY LOVE
GIRL WHY WOULD YOU BLEACH YOUR SKIN ETC. ETC.
THEN ON THE OTHER HAND YOU CAN’T HEAR ENOUGH DEROGATORY COMMENTS ABOUT DARK-SKINNED BLACKS MADE BY OUR VERY OWN
(I WON’T EVEN DARE LIST THEM…OH BUT I’VE HEARD ALOT)
WHEN YOU REACH A CERTAIN AGE AND HAVE ACHIEVED A CERTAIN LEVEL OF MATURITY YOU ARE COMFORTABLE BEING “YOU” AND ALL IT’S GLORY LIGHT/DARK, SHORT/TALL, SKINNY/BIG, LONG HAIR/SHORT HAIR ETC.
I MUST ADMIT THAT I ALWAYS LIKED THE COMMENT MY GRANDMOTHER WOULD ALWAYS SAY “THE BLACKER THE BERRY THE SWEETER THE JUICE” WHAT DOES IT ACTUALLY MEAN NOT MUCH JUST AND ADAGE SHE USED TO ENCOURAGE ME TO LOVE THE SKIN I WAS IN……AND I CAN HONESTLY SAY CONTRARY TO POPULAR BELIEF I LOVE BEING THE SHADE I AM (HERSHEY COMPLEXION)AND WOULDN’T WANT IT ANY OTHER WAY…….MY COMPLEXION AND FEATURES RESEMBLE THOSE OF MY ANCESTORS FROM AFRICA WHICH MAKES ME PROUD-I LOVE THE FACT THAT WHEN I WALK IN A ROOM THERE IS NO MISTAKE ABOUT MY IDENTITY – IT’S OBVIOUS I’M A BLACK WOMAN
EVERYBODY WANTS TO ASSIMILATE AND BECOME A HUGE MELTING POT-I BELIEVE THAT IF PEOPLE WERE MORE AWARE OF THEIR HERITAGE-WHO THEY ARE, WHERE THEY CAME FROM, & THAT THEIR IS A LONG, RICH HISTORY REGARDING OUR RACE LONG BEFORE SLAVERY-THAT WE WOULD TAKE MUCH MORE PRIDE IN OURSELVES AS INDIVIDUALS AND AS A RACE ALTOGETHER-WE CAME FROM GREATNESS BUT SO MANY OF US DON’T EMBRACE OUR PAST-AND FIND IT MUCH EASIER TO “GO ALONG TO GET ALONG” AND JOIN IN BERATING ONE ANOTHER TO FURTHER DISCRIMINATION AND OPPRESSION AMONGST OURSELVES
WHICH ARE THE REMNANTS OF SLAVERY…THAT ARE STILL BEING PASSED DOWN FROM GENERATION TO GENERATION IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY TODAY…

I think we all know that. But maybe I should have said “foreign continents” instead? Who says “foreign continents” when making a point about foreign countries?

Sandra, you read my mind today!
I’m not allowed to watch videos here at work anymore so I was sitting back thinking like “what was that video I wanted to watch a while back” and it was the Tyra skin bleaching episode…thanks for posting the whole thing. I will be watching when I get home. I’m curious as to why parents would do this to their children (as if I can’t already hear a few of their excuses in my head now).
@Charles, oh lord you done threw Halle Berry’s name out there…you gonna get Sandra started! lol.
