The Beyonce/BC Jean controversy just won’t quit. BC’s newfound fans charge Bey with stealing BC Jean’s song and changing a couple of words so she can claim she wrote the song (so what else is new?)
Anyway, a loyal reader sent me the link to BC’s original demo for “If I Were A Boy”. I actually like BC’s version much better than Bey’s! I listened to BC’s version twice. I couldn’t make it to the two-minute mark of Bey’s garbage version.
I think the difference is BC Jean can actually sing vs. Beyonce’s mind numbing screeching.
BC Jean is going to be a star, no doubt about it. The industry needs some excitement to spark interest and draw music buying consumers back in. We can thank Beyonce for introducing BC Jean to the masses! 
OK… but BC Jean didn’t right the song either. Toby Gad did. This song just isn’t good enough to garner this much controversy regardless.

Im not crazy about the song. I think it sounds better as a “rock” song though rather than how Beyonce arranged it.
BC co-wrote the song..i’m tired of Beyonce, Puffy everyone taking credit for a comma or a hell yeah and suddenly they wrote or executive produced the song..she should stick to her guns..this crap is getting old

I could care less who wrote the song because I’m not getting paid a dang on dime. I like Bey’s version better, I’m not really feeling BC Jean’s scratchy voice. Just my opinion.

most artists dont write their own songs anyway. whats teh big deal. bc maybe a star in the end…but i doubt she’ll sell out stadiums and get endorsements like bey.

I like both versions, it definetly is a rock/ (white girl) kinda song, dont get me wrong, i like beyonce’s version, i dont think its bad. BUT this record is more a Kelly Clarkson, Mandy Moore kinda song. They would have killed it, this song is nice regardless, Beyonce did make a good video tho, fits the song atleast. Anyway, Good Luck to BC Jean and Good luck to Bey on her new album.
People are flipping out over who wrote what, whole stole what, who should get credit like this is the best song since sliced bread to begin with. the message is nice but the song is simplistic at best.
I’ve already said that I like B’s version better. Now BC is stating that the money situation has been taken care of. I’m glad she’s getting her dough, but B is still wrong for the writing credit. She is a trip with that. Despite her good girl image, she is obviously a diva.
It’s cool that the girl is being compensated but time and time again we see bey trying to claim other ppl’s work, whether it be a song or moves from a video. Why can’t she be a woman about and just st8t up ask permission instead of all this drama. If she did, I stand corrected, if not, I’m not surprised and shame on her.
Most ppl know that Bey stole it, i think weve concluded that. I think what most people have a problem is the writing credit. We know u didn’t write it, stop acting like u did. YES, MOST ARTISTS BUYS MUSIC FROM OTHERS WRITERS AND MAKE THE SONGS POPULAR BY SINGING IT.
HOWEVER, BEYONCE BUYS MUSIC FROM OTHERS, ADD TWO WORDS TO THE SONG, CLAIMS SHE WROTE IT, AND GET WRITING CREDITS. ALSO, IF YOU’RE NOT ON YOUR GAME, SHE WILL OUTRIGHT CLAIM TO HAVE WRITTEN IT HERSELF….SO WHILE THIS MIGHT BE LEGAL, MOST OF US STILL SEES IT FOR WHAT IT IS, STRAIGHT STEALING.
THIS IS THE BIG DIFFERENCE PEOPLE.
IN TERMS OF THE SONG, BC VERSIONS IS JUST BETTER IN MY OPINION BECAUSE YOU GET THE FEELING THE PERSON IS SINGING FROM THE SOUL, AND WITH BEYONCE, YOU JUST GET THAT SAME FEELING OF HER TRYING HER HARDEST TO BE A SOUL SINGER, SHE’S LOUD, YELLING, AND STRAINING AS USUAL. THAT HIGHER NOTES DON’T SEEM TO COME NATURALLY FOR HER. PLUS, SHE’S ALWAYS EXTENDING NOTES AND WORDS IN THE SONG, JUST OVER SINGING IT. THIS GIRL DEFINITELY THINKS MORE IS BETTER, LOUDER IS BETTER, MORE HAIR, LOUDER SINGER, MORE MAKEUP, MORE ACCESSORIES, SHE’S JUST A OVER-DOER OF THINGS.
ALSO THE RAWNESS AND SLIGHT RASPINESS OF BC’S VOICE JUST MAKES THE SONG MORE BELIEVABLE. I THINK BC IS A STAR IN THE SHADOWS.
OVERALL, P.S. WHILE BC’S VERSION IS BETTER, I STILL THINK THE SONG IS GARBAGE..SORRY, I JUST DON’T LIKE THE SONG.
Good maybe this situation will turn out to help BC JEAN, and be a constant reminder and source of embarrassing for Beyonce. I wonder if she’ll ever perform it in public now. She’s in the process of losing her White fan base on this one. That is a real problem, they’re still the major contributors to actually buying music.
BC Jean’s version is filled with passion. This is my first time hearing her sing and the song gave me chills. That’s a DAMN GOOD song and singer! At least she didn’t claim she wrong it…
BC Jean should definitely thank Beyonce…I added BC Jean as a myspace friend, just because I heard she had done the song first…I like both versions and I think they can both co-exist..

Now if they gave this to pink she would have tore it up cause she has that voice that could pull off different styles of music. I luv Beyonce’s version. But BC Jean doesn’t sound bad. I guess I wasn’t aware of the controversy. But this stealing songs stuff has been going on in the music industry for decades. It just seems like Aunty Sandra brings it up very often for Beyonce. And it has me wondering if it is true. Auntie Sandra you have corrupted me. LOL. But I do really like Beyonce’ version better.
