Pop icon Janet Jackson posted a cryptic message today on her Twitter account that her loyal fans translated to mean she’s working with legendary producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis in the studio again. Five years ago this news would have made headlines. But today, not so much.

I care, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis have always done good for Janet. I did not like her last cd’s. She needed to keep JD as her boyfriend and not her producer.

I’m dipping. I have always said that Janet could only act when she was Penny. I think it’s because Penny was somewhat sassy and her character could deal with being abused by her mom. I know that kind of enegry/acting comes out of her because of Papa Joe. Notice how the Jackson Clan are not all stable. Janet can make a commitment to a man, marry him and divorce him without us even knowing she was married. LaToya is addicted to herself and plastic surgey. Jermain has the “Chia Pet” hair. We see many child stars who walk away from the “bizz” and get a college degree. None of these kids did that. Isn’t one of them working at a car wash? Joe busted his butt and their ass’s to make a “empire”. He was sucessful but as a parent we promote higher education and a plan B just in case. Are most of the kids living off of royalties? We don’t see them doing anything, unless it’s music or charity work. Do they have regular 9-5 jobs? What does LaToya do other than run her mouth and air the families “dirty laundry?

I know you are not taking about “Prince”. Them is fighting words. LOL. I love me some him. He has a new CD every year. He is 50 still fine and uber/yummy sexy. I did notice that he now wears flip flopss instead of heels. (smiley face). I am allowed to talk about Prince and former President Clinton to my hubby, my crushes and hubby respects both.

As for Janet, I was with the Janet up until the Velvet Rope album. At that point, she started losing her mind and literally, showing her azz (or breast). She did not have to go that route. She was a superstar. She did not need Madonna tactics to remain relevant. She talked more about her sex with JD, than anything of substance in her interviews. She rather promote promiscuity than marriage.
I cannot get with her concert footage where she does a stripper routine with a chosen fan from the audience. Her music videos became more about soft porn than about her music. In fact, she got to the point that she was but naked in her videos. How do you go from Rhythm Nation to soft porn? Sigh. Then she tries to play like she is so shy. Get the f*&% out of here.
Not once did she think about her mother or nieces and the child or children she is possibly hiding when she embarked on her career suicide. All I have to say to her is grow the f&*^ up, keep your clothes on and stop the bullshit. And stop lying.

Prince is STILL one of my top 5 artists of all time….But I mentioned him as it correlates to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, because they started out under Prince, when they were in The Time. Prince supposedly kicked them out of The Time because they wanted to pursue opportunities in music production. And in my humble opinion, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis developed into stronger PRODUCERS than Prince.

Sidebar: My mother is a very private person and therefore, don’t like me posting anything about her, but I have to let you know this important fact. My mother was staying with me. She had come to visit for almost two weeks to attend my brother’s wedding. My son and mother were hospitalized on the same day. While I was shopping for pj(s) and personal items for her, my husband called to tell me that he was bringing my son to the ER. I had my son and mother both in the ER at the same time. My son was subsequently transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Scottish Rite. All this is on top of my health challenges right now (Click here for my hospital post). I am being attack in every area of my life, but I have already claimed the victory. This too shall pass. (My mother, who is a 5-year Breast Cancer Survivor, came out of the hospital the day before my son)
My 8 month pregnant Cousin (Monica) flew into Atlanta from upstate New York to visit me for a weekend. Little did I know that I would need her as much as I did that weekend. I have “friends” and relatives that live less than 3 hours away (in fact, some “friends” live less than an hour away) – ask me if any of them came to see my mother or son. When I needed a sitter for my children, ask me if I got any help from certain relatives. In fact some relatives (who are my favorites), wanted to pick a fight with me even though they know everything (somethings I am not at liberty to post about) that is going on with me.

Regarding the Prince convo… Not demeaning your comment in anyway @Doc but Jimmy & Terry seriously LACK the Versatility to warrant any consideration Above PRINCE as producers IMO
Terry & Jimmy were truly outstanding at their craft WHICH as you stated those origins began with PRINCE… They produced R&B along with some New Jack & Hip-Hop R&B AND they help the Human League out as well BUT Prince has written & produced for SO MANY DIFFERENT kinds of artists crossing several genres and producing TOP TEN to No. 1 hits for these artists on such a continued basis it’s actually Mind-Boggling THAT ONE PERSON could have so much to offer of himself !!!
And he has alot of Ghost-writing & Ghost-productions TO HIS credit as well …
LEGENDS IN THE GAME praise Prince to no end regarding his musical gifts & musical contributions AND Impact on the music industry. THEY say that if you broke down each category with a TOP 5 Best for Singing, Song-writing, Producing, Instrument playing & mastering and Live performance… PRINCE would be THE ONLY ARTIST that would appear in each-n-every category !!!
For MY MONEY it gets NO BETTER than that …
And I HAVE much love for Jimmy & Terry because The TIME were one of the best groups ever assembled in my eyes

After I posted the last message, I was about to post a follow up message acknowledging the extraordinary amount of material that Prince has produced, written, composed, arranged, and performed (most of the times)… As an overall artist, Prince is my favorite (along with James Brown and Michael Jackson), but speaking of him just as a producer, in the 80’s he could do almost no wrong…but at points in the 90’s and beyond, Prince has produced SOME very good material, but also some sh!tty material..
Jam & Lewis are more versatile than they seem. I don’t want to post their entire discography, but they seem able to adjust with the changing times better than most veteran producers.
When I see Jam & Lewis in the credits, I know I am about to hear quality…they have never disappointed.
But SOMETIMES with Prince, I just wish he would go back to the Linn Drum Machine sound, and pause is artistic mind in 1982-1988…but i digress. You all win.

the things yall women do for men. when will yall learn? she never should’ve broken or gotten away from the fixed formula of jimmy/terry; it worked for her since 1986. there was no reason to allow jermaine to kill her singing career like that. i hope she really is working with flyte time again. 3 lack luster cds, all of which had songs i enjoy, dont get me wrong. luckily, janet is loved and can still command attention. i’d love to see her back on top with good supporting music. please, stay away from JD. he’s just no good for you (did u dump him yet janet? call me when he leaves).
