Right Wing conservatives are up in arms over a speech that Barack Obama plans to deliver to the nation’s shcool children on September 8 — the same day that Tyra Banks will reveal her natural tresses on national TV (I had to throw that in).
Conservatives accuse the Obama administration of attempting to brainwash or indoctrinate school children into some sort of Youth Zombie Corp that will report directly to him *sigh*.
As evidence, they singled out a Utah teacher for showing a video to her students that conservatives are calling “radical, leftist propaganda.”
Children at Eagle Bay Elementary School in Farmington were shown a short video called “I pledge” on Aug. 28. The video opens with an image of President Barack Obama and part of a speech in which he says, “Let us summon a new spirit of patriotism, of responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves but each other.
“It’s very inappropriate to show a radical, leftist propaganda piece that political to children,” Gayle Ruzicka said. “If parents want their children to learn about those things and do them in the home, wonderful, fine, but it’s not the place of the school to show a one-sided propaganda piece to children without parents knowing about it.” Read more…
Although the text of Obama’s planned speech to the children has not been released, conservatives are in an uproar because the students will be asked, by their teachers, to write a summary detailing what they can do to help Obama in his goal to change America.
I don’t see a problem with Obama giving a speech to school children. But then I’m not a conservative either.
