Rihanna’s full interview in GQ magazine is posted all over the Internets and it contains some interesting insight into the dominating relationship that her manager — who I affectionately call “pit bull” – has over her.
I love how the writer just ignores the pit bull’s interruptions and continues asking questions.
Take this interesting exchange for instance:
The Hovering Manager interrupts for the first time. “Ri, can you come over here for two seconds?” she asks. Rihanna looks at her quizzically. “There’s an issue with a track,” says HM. “What track?” says Rihanna. HM’s eyebrows raise. “Can you just come over here for a second?” she says tersely. Rihanna obeys. The two move a few feet away. Much whispering ensues, but there’s no communication with the people working in the soundstage. Then Rihanna returns to her wooden crate. The first thing she says is “I’m sorry.”
You get the feeling that Rihanna is somewhat passive/aggressive and allows people with bigger personalities than hers (ie, Type A personalities) to overpower her. Notice I said “allows” because I’m sure that at some point, RiRi’s aggressive side shows itself.
Rihanna discussed her close relationship with her mentor Jay Z:
Me and Jay-Z, we have a very close relationship, so he was there helping me through it and giving me advice and guidance, and just words of support. Like, strength.
And her reaction to her face meeting Chris Brown’s fists:
Initially. I would say the first…the first seventy-two hours after I realized, it hit. The entire thing was kind of a daze. I was confused. It was a little weird, but…but then, after, I was getting bored of being in the house and sittin’ around. I called Jay Brown—he’s my A&R—and I was like, “I want to get back to the studio. I want to get back.”
If Rihanna could talk to other young victims of domestic abuse, here’s what she’d probably say:
Um…really really really that love is blind… After everything happened, it was a wake-up call to me… I didn’t realize how much of an effect it had on young girls’ lives, and that’s part of the insight that I wanna give. Stop blaming yourself for that outcome. There’s nothing you can do, ever, to excuse a man’s behavior like that.
On if she will ever speak to the convicted woman beater again:
Mmm. Maybe in like ten years, you know? But it’s not something that I’m depending on. I’m not depending on his friendship.
On if she has the dreaded herpes:
… it’s not true. It’s a fucking scar. On my lip. That’s there every day of my life… At first I was like, Are you serious? First I thought people were gonna definitely know that that’s not…But when I read it, and I see that people just buy into that…Like, the minute they see it, it forms something in their head.
Read the full interview after the break…
Q: You’ve had a crazy couple of days.
Yeah. [nervous giggle]
Q: Now that you’re talking about everything, is it hard, or is it liberating?
Very liberating. It’s relieving. Because it was built up for so long, and all these thoughts and emotions have been running through my mind for the past eight months. And now it’s like I finally get to let go and move on.
Q: Is it therapeutic to talk about it?
Um, I don’t like talking about it a lot. But every time I do, it’s better; it’s easier each time.
Q: Because you said something about wanting to give some insight to young women.
Mm-hmm.
Q: And that’s a brave thing. You could have said nothing.
Mm-hmm.
Q: What made you decide that this was the right thing to do?
Because I wanted to move on. And I knew that was the only way I could have done it. And I wanted people to move on with me. ‘Cause the last big thing they know about me is That Night. And I don’t want that to be what people define me as.
Q: Before I came here—I live across the street from a pretty tough public school in New York City. And I went to talk to the girls there.
Oh, wow.
Q: Just to say, “Hey, I’m going to meet Rihanna. What would you like to know?” And it was interesting, because a lot of them had been in your situation, and they wanted to know how you handled it. Are those the insights you’re talking about?
I guess definitely. I just knew I’d be good one day. I just knew it. So I just kept waiting for that day. Like, you know, even though it was tough the entire time, there were ups and downs, I just kept knowing: I’m gonna get over it one day. I’m gonna get over it.
Q: Who helped you through it?
Nobody.
Q: Really?
The Hovering Manager interrupts for the first time. “Ri, can you come over here for two seconds?” she asks. Rihanna looks at her quizzically. “There’s an issue with a track,” says HM. “What track?” says Rihanna. HM’s eyebrows raise. “Can you just come over here for a second?” she says tersely. Rihanna obeys. The two move a few feet away. Much whispering ensues, but there’s no communication with the people working in the soundstage. Then Rihanna returns to her wooden crate. The first thing she says is “I’m sorry.”
Q: You were saying, before you had to walk away, that nobody helped you through it. Really?
Nobody. Really just music. And working. ‘Cause I didn’t really want to be around anybody, for them to stare at me and stuff, and feel sorry for me. So I just—I stayed in the house a lot. Then I started to get cabin fever. I was like, I’m going crazy in here.
Q: But what about all the friends you’ve met…you have a great relationship with Jay-Z. With Justin Timberlake. Were all these people supportive of you through the past eight months?
Absolutely.
Q: But you still felt alone?
Me and Jay-Z, we have a very close relationship, so he was there helping me through it and giving me advice and guidance, and just words of support. Like, strength.
Q: Were you in shock?
Q: In one of the tracks on the album, you sing about thinking you might die…did you think you would die that night?
No…no. [long silence]
Q: It must take a lot of strength to deal with all this. I mean, just the basic things. Like, how did you have the presence of mind to call 911?
I didn’t call 911. No. I know everybody thinks I did, but it was someone else…It was…
Rihanna looks at the Hovering Manager and then mutters something about having just spoken to Diane Sawyer about all this. But here’s the weird thing: You get the feeling that Rihanna still has a lot to say. Her eyes are wet when anything Chris Brown-related comes up. She has a tendency to stare off into the distance when she talks about It—but then she meets the glare of the manager. Maybe she does want to go there—and can’t. Or perhaps it is dawning on Rihanna that to really step out and be the kind of advocate she says she wants to be is another burden altogether.
Q: When you say you want to give insight to young women—what was the biggest insight you got? What did you learn?
Um…really really really that love is blind. It took a lot of strength to pull out of that relationship. To finally just officially cut it off. It was like night and day. It was two different worlds. It was the world I lived for two years, and then having the strength to say, “I’m gonna step into my own world. Start over.”
Q: What was harder, the physical pain or the emotional pain?
Definitely not the physical pain. The physical pain comes and it goes. The bruises fade away. But the thing that stays with you is the emotional scars.
Q: You were in love.
Yeah.
Q: And you were a kid.
Yeah.
Q: Do you think you two will ever be friends?
Mmm. Maybe in like ten years, you know? But it’s not something that I’m depending on. I’m not depending on his friendship.
Q: Right. How do you ever trust again?
I can trust. I mean, I don’t like to stereotype; I believe everybody’s an individual. You can’t judge someone based on someone else’s actions. There are people in the world who will love you and people in the world who will hurt you, and there are people in the world who will do both.
Q: Do you think a man who does something like that can change?
Absolutely. Yeah. Some of them won’t change and some of them will—but you know, very few of them change.
Q: By the way, did you ever graduate high school?
No. I wanted to. I just got really busy.
Q: You know, when I talked to those high school girls…and this illustrates how difficult a problem it is: Their first question was “What did she do to get hit?”
Mm-hmm.
Q: And I thought, Oh God, how awful is it that they’d ask that question.
Mm-hmm. After everything happened, it was a wake-up call to me…I didn’t realize how much of an effect it had on young girls’ lives, and that’s part of the insight that I wanna give. Stop blaming yourself for that outcome. There’s nothing you can do, ever, to excuse a man’s behavior like that.
Q: Did you blame yourself?
Initially? I mean…actually, no, I never blamed myself, but I wondered what, what did I do to provoke it?…
This is the breaking point. Hovering Manager chimes in with “You’ve exhausted it now.”
Q: Okay. Well then. How did the cover shoot go? I heard the pictures are really hot.
[giggles] It’s very sexy, yeah. At one point [chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group] L.A. Reid came into the shoot, and he was like, “Rihanna, put some fucking clothes on!”
Q: These are pretty. [She is wearing a couple of dozen bangle bracelets.]
Thank you.
Q: They’re very Michelle Obama.
Yeah? I love her. She’s so fly.
Q: Tell me about these tattoos. Here [in her left ear, the one Chris Brown bit] we have a star. And this one [on her ring finger] says “love”? And you have a gun, too, right?
Mm-hmm. It’s here. On my side. [opens her sweatshirt; it is under her right armpit] You see it?
Q: What was up with that? A gun?
You know, I just…I think I’m too cool for school.
Q: Didn’t it hurt?
Yeah, tattoos hurt. But when you want something, you will take the pain.
Q: Let’s hope not. [HM hovers closer] So what do you want to put out there that you haven’t gotten a chance to talk about?
Uh, there’s nothing that I, like, specifically think to put out there. There’s not a lot more that I can possibly put out there. Everything’s out there. I mean, people are just, you know, they misperceive me.
Q: How so?
They just don’t understand me. I just think people straight up don’t know who I am; they just know what I look like, they know the idea of me. But—they’ll learn more this time, because now I let my guard down, and I’m more comfortable just being myself. That’s exactly what I want to be. And even on the album, you definitely get a gist of my personality.
Q: More than with your previous songs?
Definitely. Definitely. It tells my story a lot.
Q: Because in a weird way, no one should have to go through anything that bad to get to another level, but it does seem to have gotten you to another level.
It absolutely does.
Q: But I’m curious. What exactly do you think people think about you that’s wrong?
It’s not really anything that’s wrong. It’s just weird when I read about myself. Like how one simple thing can be turned into something different.
Q: Like when people were talking about communicable diseases?
Hmm?
Q: When people were bringing up herpes, for instance. Saying that’s why he hurt you—
Right. And it’s not true. It’s a fucking scar. On my lip. That’s there every day of my life.
Q: It must be hard reading that kind of stuff.
It’s not like it’s hard. It’s more ignorant. At first I was like, Are you serious? First I thought people were gonna definitely know that that’s not…But when I read it, and I see that people just buy into that…Like, the minute they see it, it forms something in their head.
Q: And that was all over the Internet.
Mm-hmm.
Q: But you read it all.
Mm-hmm.
Q: Why?
Because. I learn a lot from reading it. A lot.
Q: So how do you keep grounded? Everyone I talked to before you got here all commented on how nice you were to work with.
Oh, nice! You’re asking me how I—
Q: Yeah, how do you do that?
I’m just me. Like, I don’t feel a reason to change.…But that means a lot. For you to tell me they said that. That’s cool.
Q: Is there anything else you want to throw out there, Rihanna?
“No, I don’t think so,” says HM, adding, “We need to wrap this up.”
Q: Is there anything else you want to throw out there?
Your shoes are cute.
Q: Thanks, honey. It’ll be fun to watch what happens to you.
Thank you so much. [big hug] And that’s sweet what the band said. But they totally lied. I’m such a bitch.
GQ is on sale now in New York and LA or nationwide on Dec. 22.
O wow I really miss the Pon Di Replay Rihanna. She has completely done a 180.. It’s kinda sad, but whatever. Little girl lost.
Not in the mood to read the whole interview, but it is interesting (from what I’ve read so far). You should have posted all the pics from the shoot Sandra. They’re GORGEOUS!!!
Patiently waiting for her new video
Her father had one job, and one job only,,,,,,,(in my best Chris Rock voice)”to keep his little girl off the pole”.

By th eway VERY tasteful pics role model. Let them youngins know what actually means something *showing yoour body for the world*
Rihanna needs to hire a tutor & get her high school diploma. REALLY!!

Q: What was up with that? A gun?
You know, I just…I think I’m too cool for school.
not today
Too busy to finish school? I guess…
This is my last comment for the day! I have a final tomorrow… It kills me that people are down playing the fact that she didn’t finish high school. Some are saying it doesn’t matter b/c she is making money and living large… seriously?! NO MATTER HOW MUCH MONEY YOU HAVE YOU SHOULD AT LEAST HAVE A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA. Maybe she doesn’t need a bachelor or a higher degree, but basic education skills are essential to everyone. SMH!!
DEAD @ iyonah! You’re not the only one
TI’s had that thing on his lip since he was a child. Don’t tell me he has herpes too
He’s still fine as hell, and herpes would not change my feelings about him

Just another 20 yr old w/out a high school diploma, who knows everything and you can’t tell them shyt. I think ppl now and days should feel ashamed of themselves if they only had a high school diploma. I am talking your 22-28 yr olds. Unless you are smart, crafty or really a dam* good business person, you can’t make it without a education unless you want to work with your back the rest of your life(for peanuts eg.housekeeper/factory/fast food.
@ Krysi i hope you right
cause every since i seen that i aint looked at TI the same and he use to be fineeeeeeeee
Poor Rihanna….beauty with no brains. What a role model. She got her ass and tits out on constant public display. And have the audacity 2 say school is not cool…..hmmmm…well at least she’s honest about being a “****h”….poor poor Rihanna. When they get through milking this broad I should hope she is able 2 sustain.
@ Anna,
Im sorry but i icant agree with you. I knwo now and days damn near everyone needs an education for a good job. BUT i didnt go to college. However I DO think education is very very important and all teens/kids SHOULD finish high school. But I make 55,000 plus a year (that may not be much to most of yall older peeps who been working for years) for me thats good and im 22. Im a logistics coordinator who does work for The Dept of Education. Oh an di have no kids so my income is pretty good for just me. My job “wants” you to have a bachelors but i got my job with experience because i been working my azz off since 16. (I was press to turn 16 just to work) But ive been doing administrative work for damn near 16. And alot of my frineds who did go to college coming out making 35,000 on an average, shut some still cant find work cause they got no experience. BUT i do agree education is important.
Serving up more HOT SEX on a platter WORK BISH!
She just said last week she wanted to talk to Chris again
I’m a 20 yr old working on my degree! Go me!!!
@Lovely that is a good salary period and def. for your age you make more than I do and I have a college degree about to have a Masters
YOU DID THAT!
@Daisy thats because she is a liar. They never remember what they say from one day to the next.
@VI back up off my girl now
Maybe she wants to talk to him depending on the day. He aint depending on her friendship either but nobody can tell me w/o the stay away order they wouldnt still be friends at the least
She talks a good game but her eyes aint getting wet at the mention of his name for nothing!
@ Anna
Ok, no comment on the interview … I like the risque pic better than what she had to say
I have to cosign with LovLady and that is good money for any age (if you dont have kids, lol because they will eat u out of house and home. Good for you.
@ Daisy,
Thanks, I’ve actually busted my butt to get to where i am. But i did graduate High School a year early at that. But i just dont agree that you have to go to college to be better. thats why on some apps you got educationan and experience. Some people dont want to hire people that just went to oschool to learn the field they want to be in but they want peopel who is already experienced in that field. But i would never tell a young child not to go to college because i think its great. But i got chicks that work with me thats STILL paying off school loans.
Oh and I just started making 55 plus like 6 weeks ago
because i just got my evaluation
and it was goddddddddddd. *whispering* Although I be on SR all damn day. I was press. I was making 53 but got my raise. Im siceeeeeeeeeee
College isnt for every1 but damn at least get a high school diploma…it may not mean much now a days but thats the least kids now a days can do…
@ LovelyLady: u go girl! I dred being in college sometimes but without a degree I cant work in my field
*WALKS IN SPARYING LYSOL*
Something smells like fish and it smells foul.
I thought after that 20/20 interview I could ride for this trick. Now the more I see and hear her. The more turned off I am. She looks like her coochie smells. Bet she smelled her hand when she removed it.
WOW-LOL
THIS TRICK IS A HOT MESS
I’M GLAD SHE’S LETTING THE WORLD KNOW HOW DUMB SHE IS-REALLY!
:lolol: :lolol:
@icescream
I won’t lie, that pic is hot!

Anna, you better preach!!
rihanna gets a big yawn from me. she’s ignorant. “miss i want to be a role model, but i’m too cool for school”. i never really was a fan, but now i am definitely not. she reminds me of lindsey lohan…slowly spiralling down.
lol@Daisy Sorry, but she needs to stop. Singing about being the “truth tellaa” lol,LIAR! Ok..I’m done
how do i change my pic?
I can’t believe this chick said that she wanted to graduate from high school, but she got really busy. Money may come and go, but an education is something that will always be part of you. I just hope that her and Fantasia get their priorities straight. I’m not saying they need to go to college, but at least get a high school diploma or GED.

I feel you on that! Congrats on being successful w/o college. I’ve been blessed with scholarships, so I don’t have to worry about loans. Plus, I figured that I might as well go to school for free.
@LL
Damn girl where you work at. Let me know when they are hiring.
do ya thang girl.
Love to see a young black girl doing the damn thang.
@school subject- I remember MJB saying how she wished she finished school. When you are off camera/stage and have to be in these big meetings and don’t have any clue what they are talking about. That not finishing highschool shyt will slap u right in the face.
Can you imagine the blank look on Beyonce’s face in those meetings.

I DO NOT CARE WHAT YALL SAY I FING LOVE RIHANNA LOL..
I just love rihanna especially now because she is the rebel sid eof me I wish I could be. Like I know I know this is a made image, but the way it is carried is like the way I want to just be free and ive my life. But having a damn coporate job wont allow me to get too many tats or piercings :(….

BEY IS NOT SMART AT ALL!!! She probably business savvy like hell but can’t talk to her ass about politics, healthcare reform, history or even the damn ABC’s
@ Iscream, I work for a consultant firm whose contracted thru The Dept Of Education in DC. Sometimes its good to work for little companies that way the pay dont get distrubuted thru 500 people lol.
@ lovelylady
you are damn fortunate and lucky. I live in the DMV area too and people are scrambling like roaches for that imcome, hell even a damn job.. KUDOS!!

@Isc @ #60(BINGO) DEAD at your jab at Beyaki
@Lovely I am open to moving to the DMV area sometime in the next few yrs. My gfriends who live there make big bank one is almost at 6 figures!
@Cris I

mothersuckin hypocrites
wow what a damn role model huh? has it really come to this? this girl is so full of it it’s pathetic. Sandra if Beyonce was posing like this what would you have to say?? curious? so she didn’t finish school she got to busy?? oookkaayy…and she is to cool for school? wow. she is just plastered every where half naked now.
@ Crislex I forgot you from here. DC stand up. lol. I know they say we losing jobs BUT i just dont feel the recession besides everybody and they damn mama crying about it. And my boyfriend has a masters in electricity and his jobs have been short term jobs lately like 6 months here and there. But the next one is for 2 years. The harbor is building a Disney Resort down there. Ne hoo DC goverment got jobs for daysssssssssssss.
@Lovely we are going to need to talk for real! My masters is/will be in Public Administration let me know if yall are hiring
I agree with Lovely Lady and do ya thang gurl…I know people who went to college in the same situations you spoke of….and I have been working every since age 14 when minimum wage was $4.75. Now I work in a hospital and making the same amount or more than some LPNs make…which is really confusing
. I actually feel bad for those people who went to college all that time only to not find a job or not get paid enough to payback loans and take care of themselves…it makes you wonder if its really worth it. I think people should only obtain degrees or certificate in areas of talent that GOD gave them, because the job was ordained….people who go out in a field of study without the skill usually waste a lot of time and money. But I think obtaining a HS degree is VERY important for everyone to obtain. I could work for the rest of my life, but I know that GOD has blessed me with the ability to do hair, I have the gift of writing as well, but what money does that make, besides writing books?? You don’t need a degree to write books Even Precious wrote a book!
@ LL
Its soooo funny you say that bc I swear I was just thinking how I miss working for small companies. They give xmas bonus. The govment aint giving us shyt but some extra days off durning the calendar year
@Isc private companies give out bonuses as well
Come on March! We got one this yr in a recession praise GOD and getting one again in March!
Okay Daisy I gotcha.
@ Krysi, girl yes. Its girls, no im sorry woemn at my job how are like 35+ and im making more than them. Im like hun *scratches head* Every job i go to Im the youngest ALL THE TIME. When they find out my age they dont beleive me. Its one lady here that HATES me. For what??? IDK. My supervisor said she thinks its becasue Im a LC and shes 40+ and a recptionist. I think that pretty much sums it up. But i dont feel bad, Ive worked my butt off. I went from Popeyes @ 16 making 5.75 to a sales associate making 6.25 to a recpetionist making 10.00 to an admin making 12 to a travel coordinator making 35,000 and now im where i am. When i say i went from job to job just to learn new skills and build experience yall cant imagine soem things i had to put up with and deal with. Its all good though cause i know im sitting at work (on SR) because of God. He got me this job and it can easily be taken away.
Not to mention I LOVE my joba nd my Supervisor, we go shopping together, eat lunch, leave work and go to the movies and more. I couldnt ask for a better job.
@ Iscream.
omg I just noticed
<<<<<——– this was suppose to be a damn Cheerleader. Sandra *dead* She got the pig tails and all.
@ LL, I’ve experienced the same issues at my job. Congrats on your success. That’s truly a blessing. I just moved to DC by the way
purplexxe7 “Too cool for school” is an old ass (cheesy) expression, not a follow up comment re: her not graduating.
She’s just like Beyonce, great until they open their mouths. I miss her not giving interviews and just being all image, no words. Go back to biting your tongue pretty girl!
To the newbies: Please change your avatar. Only Anna is allowed to use the crying baby. LOL
_______________
Only way to change it is to drop the company email. Sandra is the coast clear to drop the company email yet? Cause I’m tired of being a cry baby anyway.
@ LL & Daisy
*kicks both yall in the knees and snatches ya check while you’re down*
Yes I’m hating (but in a good way).
Damn Isc…. lol
Yall leave Bey alone …
RHIANNA believes her own BS. reinventing herself!? into what? a PORN STAR is my guess.
@iyonah
Oopps, I thought you left
I need to change my avatar
HOW DO I GO ABOUT CHANGING IT?
Isc I am saving my bonus n reimb check for school for me Paris trip in Oct and to pay off a few bills thank u JESUS
@Lovely I hope you are saving for a rainy day n the future since u are so young!
Oh and Rihannas hair looks good n this pic!
whorish.
I like Rhianna but I sure wish she would finish school. We are going to start comparing her to Fantasia in a minute. Looks only go so far. I don’t know why people are saying she is a role model. She didn’t sign up for this. Please raise your own kids and be your own children role model.
I love working for smaller companies. My first corporate attorney position was with a small telecommunications company.
She forgot to add before the 72 hours was up I was back in bed with him, lovin and getting all she could out of him…
@ LovelyLady
Congratulations! My yearly review is in Feb so I’m patiently waiting until then. I love my job and my boss is awesome. We got our Xmas bonus before Black Friday, but today he gave us all $150 Target gift cards! In addition our office is closed the entire week of Xmas (not counted into vacation time) so I’m heading to Jamaica on Friday with a bit of extra $$
on this post:
That’s a bad photoshop job on her stomach..where is her belly button??
@ Daisy yes I know the importance of saving. When i was younger it was HARD girl it was so hard. My mother use to say *that money burning a hole in ur pocket* cause i couldnt wait to spend it. i have an addiction to shopping and working in this area makes it no better with 3 mall in a 10 mile radius. But yes, 10% of my check goes str8 to my Credit Union savings.
Thanks @ Ms.kaylamomma . I also try to help out my community. Me and 3 best friends of mine satrted a non profit called AWAY (another way advancing youth) and its nerve recking but we need something in DC for kids. So this is my way of giving back. Wish me luck on this non profit yall cause its not as easy as i thought.
Hey, hey, hey, dont be turning the tables on Bey! She aint done nothin to nobody up in here.
This is Rih’s hoesitdown moment. Let her have it. Please and thank you. Daisy did you start this? lol, I’m watching you!
Congrats to all the “youngin” in the room doing it big. I think that each generation should make more money than their parents.
@ renegadesince1985
Dang your job closed the whole week. MAnnnnnnnnnnnnn Im mad now.
that aint fair, i want the whole week to.
@ renegadesince1985
Dang I just noticed she aint have no belly button in that pic. *dead*
@mrskay
No shade but didn’t she sign a contract? She knew coming in the life of a celeb. Them being placed on this pedelstool didn’t just come into play.
& if that’s the case why’d she even answer the question of what would you tell young girls? She should’ve said no comment because I’m no one to look up to. I’m selling sex not albums.
Question?
Have you (plural) ever heard a song that made you cry?
Have you ever heard a song that sparked a good or bad memory?
Have you ever heard a song that made you wanna clean up?
Have you ever heard a song that gave you strength or motivation to do something?
Music does have an influence on people no matter if we want to admit it or not.

Yep, Boyz N Hood/Easy E usta get me XTRA crunk (and still does) :lolol:
But seriously, I agree music can influence ones state of mind. The same way I know a bunch of ppl who don’t listen to Sade/Amy Winehouse cause they say their music is depressing.
@ Iscream Yes, yes, Yes, and yes
@ Iscream
I meant she didn’t sign up to be a role model on purpose but you’re right (and I’ve always said) that these artists are placed on pedestals. It’s unfair to them and unfair to our children as well. Because when they fall every one is watching them and everything they do is placed in the spotlight. But us as regular folks can sort of hide our transgressions and faults but theirs are placed in the spotlight every day. That’s all I was saying.
@mrsKay
Gotcha
Hopefully when my book blows up I’ll be able to be a positive role model for the young people.
“I gotta make it to Heaven for going thru Hell.”

Yes I’m in full promo mood. Sorry to anyone who is offended. But I’ll make it up to you with a surprise ending if you purchase a copy
Gotta love me.
using the beating incident as a way to provide insight for other young women in a similar situation.. is what exactly?? i would think she’s signifying herself as a “role model..”
she realizes just as well as we do that she is in a position of influence, to set trends.. to sell records.. to make people angry or happy with her words.. so to say she should only use one public aspect of her life to influence others while not using the rest is hypocritical. if your going to embrace the fact that you make an impact on other’s lives, then do it for EVERYTHING, not just the part where a man beat your ass.. but because you didn’t finish high school (too cool for school, huh?), or pose provocatively on magazine covers, or take naked cell phone pictures for your man (and then say that women are crazy if they don’t do those things for their men).. rihanna is full of crap, instead of talking about how she doesn’t want to talk to chris brown and saying the same junk in every interview, why not get out there, start some organizations, visit women’s shelters?? she’s phony.. she’s fake!!
btw, someone in here is really feeling themselves (lovelylady).. i’m all for being proud, but don’t nobody care to know your income since the age of 16, hun.. sounds like you got a biiigggg eggooo!! LMAO!! not hatin lady, just saying cool ya jets!! 50-11 of the comments i read was you talkin bout your income **claps for you** do you gal!!

you know there is one in every bunch…remember my definition of hater, well keep that in mind and pay no mind to BS. I know why you’re proud….hell I had nothing growing up, my grandmother had nothing to raise me with I had to buy clothes from good will…I was the first to graduate from high school out of all my fathers children and though I didn’t finish college I have accomplished more or at least 75% of what all these college graduates go to school for…NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO BE ASHAMED OF PUTTING IN WORK…THE DESERVE TO BRAG, and it was a long time coming so LET IT BE KNOWN any time you feel like it!
*DEAD*
@ LL
I swear my jaw dropped at the tail end of the comment.
I wanted to come back & say I don’t LL was bragging or being full of herself just making a point that college isn’t for everyone. It was on topic and most of us got where she was going & coming from.
Buttttttt
I guess she did a better job at explaining herself.
Wow @ lovely and your check for 6.75 and hour will be here friday.
Yall = SR commentors are a trip – if she wants to share about her financial wealth and you don’t care to read it on it, by pass it (I know I did) #noshade @ lovely but its not what I came on the post for …
At ISC .. you know I’m here but not here.
Oh and for the record fame or not, I think Rhi should at least get her diploma.
Wow….
Im sorry yall but i ihad to. Im never the one to gloat but i was just making a point that Im an example of you dont have to go to colllege to make it in life whih was by the way VERY ON TOPIC. I dont usually act a fool but i had to. Its people like her who we all know takes out our office trash at the end of the day.
*come back to Chrisitanity*
@Mahogany03 — DITTO!! At least you and I admitted it
You better do it. That was ri-damn-diculously funny.
@ Iscream
Hopefully they will make a movie from your book. I bought a couple for 2 best friends. I haven’t read my copy yet but hopefully during the xmas break I can read it. Lord knows I love a good book.
a_shawty Says: I can’t believe this chick said that she wanted to graduate from high school, but she got really busy. Money may come and go, but an education is something that will always be part of you.

celebs can get away with this. we just turned two very experienced people down cold because they did not have a degree. one spent 20 years in the military out of high school. they wouldn’t even interview them. sometimes (in the real world) it catches up with you when you least expect it.
Well I
on the bragging and not having to go to college to BRAG ABOUT IT!
@ Krysi
Aw w w ms. Kay
Thanks. I hope you enjoy it.
yet we spend so much talking about everything but her music. she’s not even concerned with that side of her “career.” pic aint sexy, it’s slutty. rhianna will be the notch on a lot of different belts over the next year or two. yaaaaaaaaaaaaawn at this chick.

@Lovelylady, I am proud of your accomplishments. Keep up the good work.
Well I’d be damned. It’s popping off like pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop popcorn in here.
Good for you LL.
Do your thang gurl.
I didn’t go to college either and am making a decent amount of moolah. I like what I do, but this isn’t the field I want to be in for the rest of my life. So I will be going to school starting next year.
lmao@ Missy I wish your entire gravatar could show up. I dont think some ppl know that those pajamas are all in one. Bless his little heart…lol
School is not for evryone, but nowadays you need some kind of degree to do something that will bring some money in. But if like luck up like LL thts even better!!
Good Luck with school Quitta
DO WHAT EVER FLOATS YOUR BOAT
@VI-I was going to post the whole pic but I didn’t think you could see it good………but I may just post the whole view..because when I had seen this I
this boy is a fool……..
@Lovelyady, I read your comment and I spoke too soon. If what you say is the truth with regard to your salary, you are the exception not the norm.
Had to comment.
First let me just say that I have a college degree (Bachelors/Masters) and I am working on a PHD.
My Salary (well lets just say I am in a whole other tax bracket).
Now @ Lady
I appreciate the success of a hard working BLACK WOMAN and you had me up until you made the comment about the Garbage.
You speak so low to someone, yet you probally once was where they are now. So that comment I don’t appreciate.
@ thaspinaltruth
I dont usually speak to someone like that but she came for me. Dont come for me and they want get that. And yes, i was acutally soemwhat there. Popeyes @ the age of 16.
Why would someone try to make me feel bad for what i accompished. And agin to whom ever that think they goin come for me and i not respond (forget that bigger person stuff) Im coming right back for them. Get it?? Got it??? Good!!
So @ AttorneyMom
JUST BECAUSE I DIDNT GO TO COLLEGE YOU TAKE BACK UR COMMENT. SMH. IT HURTS ME NONE. BUT LET ME GET THIS STRAIGHT BECUASE I DIDNT GO TO COLLEGE YOUR NOW NOT HAPPY FOR MY ACCOMPLISHMENTS. is that what ur saying????
@Lady
You should be proud, but don’t put others down, I have said before I am not all for that. I came from nothing and I do mean nothing, and someone that treated me like nothing when I was down actually came to me for a interview for a job. SO be cautious of what you say! That’s all! Now this is not to agrue with you, I am not the type. So as you said Get! Got! Good!
Now have a blessed day and may the God stay in you!
Amen And Good Bye!
I don’t wanna get caught in the crossfire
@ thaspinaltruth
I wasnt arguing just simply responded. And the get it got it good was for EVERYONE in general not yoou. lol. Have an even blessed day.
Oh lawd, not the caps. LL, props to you for working hard and making more than $10/hr without a degree. That’s nice and old school style. Your age is showing, though. Try to maintain a spirit of gratitude and don’t let other’s provoke you into putting negative energy into the universe. Especially during a recession. <3
Topic: I am so over Rihanna’s haircut.
@Lovely
Thank You Sister! I hope that you will prosper beyond what you can hope, think , or imagine. But you gonna have to control that tongue :lolol:
It’s all love though, I support my black sisters and people in general.
making more than $10/hr without a degree, especially during a recession
__________
lol @ thaspinaltruth…
But you gonna have to control that tongue
but i REALLY do listen to alot of what yall have to say because more than likely im one of the young ones and i can learn from a “few” of you. So next lesson 30 days of taming my tongue.
—–
I really need to work on that Huh??? I think i been told that to many times. U sound like my dang on mama when she use to say “if only you could control you mouth”
@VI if you’re still around. I saw ur tweet request. Can’t accpt from phone. Will do it when I get home.
WELL DAYUM GUCCI!!!
That was a classic case of DONT COME FOR ME WHEN I AINT SEND FOR YOU if I ever saw one

I am whateva on rih rih most of the time but she sounds hella dumb and looks like a nasty ad in the back of a dirty mag. Not a good look, the hovering manager should have broke the damn camera…
Damn ya’ll go hard on Rhi :-o. I didn’t want to read the whole interview because I’m simply tired of hearing about the situation and she needs to stop talking about it. As far as the herpes thing……the chick had a freaking cold sore, it happens. I’ve had them a time or two and I damn sure don’t have herpes. The pics were raunchy but that’s not suprising………moving on
@ Anna,
Im sorry but i icant agree with you.
—————————————————-
Oh I so agree with this :preach:!!!! I’ve been making over 125k for the past 3 years and I don’t have a degree. It just depends, I’m an overseas contractor and every friend I have including my little Sister that has degrees is struggling right now. That piece of paper doesn’t mean a whole lot right now…….though my hats are off to those who have it :claps:. Me, I left home at 17 spent 6 years in the Army, got out, and been banking ever since. I’ve never had an intrest in College, and after seeing what a waste it’s turned out to be I never will, I don’t have 4 years to waste in school when I’m already making money now :woot:
Congrats to Kimi and Lovely Lady for being able to secure jobs that didn’t require you to have a degree. I applaud what both of you ladies are doing. Although there are plenty of jobs that do not require a college degree, there are plenty of jobs that do. I work for DoD and in my field, you have to have a degree unless you were grandfathered into this series before the year 2000. My mother always instilled the value of an education in me and my sister so we both went to college and I graduated cum laude. My mother has several degrees and certifications so not going to college really wasn’t an option at her house anyway. In rural Louisiana, where I’m originally from, the job prospects for people who don’t have college degrees are not very high since the only major industries are lumber and poultry. For a 28 year old who’s been working since the age of 16, I value my education (I graduated when I was 20) and yes I have student loans but to me the ends justify the means. I know that my education is something that can never be taken away from me.
No shade intended by this message at all.
I hate to break it to you but if you had a cold sore you do have the Herp.
Herpes Simplex 1.
Sandra it may be time for another medical minute!
No, I still congratulate you on your accomplishments. I just don’t like anyone throwing shade on individuals with degrees. We (the degreed and the undegreed) should respect each other’s accomplishments, unless they involve illegal and immoral activities.
My comment is for Lovelylady.
lol @ laterthannever
YOU CAN ALWAYS TELL WHO WENT TO COLLEGE BY HOW THEY SERVE SOMEONE THEIR AZZ
THE ONES THAT DON’T HAVE A DEGREE TYPICALLY JUST HAVE SHARP TONGUES AND TAKE LOW BLOWS
THE ONES THAT DO HAVE A DEGREE HANDS SOMEONE THEIR AZZ BY USING LOGIC -BUT NOT ONLY THAT BUT GIVES THEM SOME SHIAT THEIR NON-DEGREE HAVING AZZ HAS TO THINK ABOUT FOR A MINUTE AND THEY END UP EATING CROW
LOL-TOO FUNNY I LUV IT – A WOMAN WITH A SHARP TONGUE WATCH OUT BUT A WOMAN WITH A DEGREE AND A SHARP TONGUE WILL LAY YOU AZZ OUT
AND YES I HAVE A DEGREE-NOT HATING ON THOSE WHO DON’T HAVE ONE CAUSE MY DADDY ALWAYS TOLD ME BE THE BEST AT WHAT YOU DO RATHER IT BE CLEANING TOILETS OR BEING A CEO
AND FOR THE RECORD I TOOK OFFENSE TO THE EMPTY TRASH CAN COMMENT-CAUSE TO MAKE ENDS MEET DURING COLLEGE I CLEANED SOME DAMN TOILETS AND EMPTIED QUITE A FEW GARBAGE CANS AND I DON’T REGRET IT-IT BUILDS CHARACTER
MONEY CAN’T BUY YOU EVERYTHING
Attorneymom,
Umm how did you think i was throwing shade at people with degrees
idk. I actually respect you guys because that is really hard work. Yall taking it out of context. I was simply respinding to Anna I mean dayum. Just like you say dont throw shade at people with degress dont throw shade at people with out them like they’re beneath you.
And for the record, the end of my comment was a joke but if you’re offened oh well cant plz everybody.
YOU SHOULD BE PROUD OF YOUR ACCOMPLISHMENTS YOU WORKED HARD
AND YOU DON’T HAVE TO HAVE HUMILITY BUT IT’S A NICE CHARACTERISTIC
BUT YOU GOT IT GOING ON MA NOT HATIN
BUT THE LORD GIVETH AND HE CAN TAKETH AWAY-THANK GOD BECAUSE IT’S BECAUSE OF HIS MERCY AND GRACE
HARD WORK ALONE ISN’T A GUARANTEE FOR SUCCESS-THAT’S WHERE BLESSINGS COME IN
Intenese
Exactly read my comment 75 where i say jsut that. I dont gloat about ish but why am i not suppose to be proud. I would never tell someone dont go to college. i would actually tell most kids go to college becuase you have a higher chance in succeeding in the real world. My point was that not all people have to go to college to be successful.
The above pic is doing a little too much. If I didn’t know who she was and had to guess what she did for a living based on the pic just alone–singer–wouldn’t have been one of my choices.
HON NO ARGUMENT HERE
I READ EXACTLY WHAT YOU WROTE AND I SAW WHAT YOU SAID AND NOT ONCE DID I NOT SAY NOT TO BE PROUD
YOU HAVE EVERY RIGHT TO BE
GARBAGE CAN COMMENT WAS A LOW BLOW-CAUSE THAT PERSON USE TO BE YOU AND COULD BE BOTH OF US TODAY DEGREE OR NOT
THAT’S WHY THE COMMENT ABOUT HUMILITY-YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT TOMORROW MAY BRING
BUT YOU GOOD-I HONESTLY THINK YOU WEREN’T BRAGGING OR ANYTHING JUST PROUD OF HOW FAR YOU COME, IN MY OPINION YOUR OFF-HANDED COMMENT WAS GOING A BIT FAR TO MAKE A POINT
BUT I AINT YA MAMA AND YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO SAY WHATEVA YOU LIKE-YOU DON’T NEED MY APPROVAL FOR ANY COMMENT YOU MAKE
CAUSE LORD KNOWS I SAY WHAT I WANT ON HERE IRREGARDLESS OF WHAT OTHERS THINK
lovelylady, tell em why YOU mad son!! the entire comment you posted back at me was in caps.. did that make you feel better??
lol! you went on and on and on about how you got a better job than all these older women with degrees, don’t have student loans, and how you worked so hard to get where you are.. i wasn’t COMING FOR YOU, but if you want me to, we can do that!!
learn to be humble sweety, i wasn’t “hating,” i was just stating what i’m sure many others in here would have liked to have said, you looking down on other people for actually continuing their education, when you should be so much more appreciative of where you are and how you got there.. appreciation isn’t defined as tearing someone down for doing the same things that got you where you are sweety..
notice i didn’t call any names, or put you down, or tell you to fry some chicken gul!!, merely pointed out that you seem to be full of yourself, as you’ve made clear in your later comments.. get it together girl!!
@ kryyystal
——
Listen BOO i want entertain you after this okay. You took what i was saying out of context where once did i look down on peoole with degrees?? Thats just plain dumb. Just becuase you didnt comprehend what i was saying is not my fault and i wil lnot apologize. Call it what you want. Maybe you should re read my comments. I was anwering questions from other posters. And so what. Get it?? Got it?? Good!! Peace

so you said education is important, BUUUUUUT you got your job just fine with no college degree.. and education is important BUUUUUT all ya girls who went to college making less than 40 thou.. education is important BUUUUUT you didn’t go to college and you make 55k+ a year..
then.. someone congratulates you (see comment 37) and you continue on your soapbox.. but you were just answering questions? funny cause 37 didn’t ask not nare question.. and you still found a way to rub it in that you “busted your butt, graduated a year early from hs, and others are STILL paying off student loans”.. still think education is important right??
then gone come right back and make sure to mention you are now making 55+ due to an evaluation..
then gone come back again and talk about how your making more than other women at your job, your always the youngest employed.. need i continue??
i only saw one time where a person asked you a question, and that was about where do you work and if they were hiring.. not about your wages since you were 16..
i can read just fine, matter of fact i copied and pasted all that for you just so YOU can re-read your comments.. i’m sure the Dept. of Education would find it interesting that someone they employ for 55k+ sits on a gossip rag all day, talking down on other employees and education.. i kinda thought that the Dept. of Education promoted education, didn’t ya’ll??
if it don’t apply, let it fly.. but obviously your the one getting rubbed the wrong way here, hun!
SMDH @ the people in this post . first they say u should be ashamed if you don’t have a degree, then when someone who doesn’t have a degree made a good life for herself people jump on her ? i don’t get it .
Lovely lady congrats to you for accomplishing everything that you did despite not having a degree. you worked hard so you deserve every bit of success you have.
Congratulations on your success Lovely Lady. Just be sure that you are taking advantage of every opportunity that comes your way INCLUDING the chance for higher education.
I started working at Verizon when I was 19. Due to my position (Business Consultant), by the time I was 23 I was making a little over $50k a year. Once that department was downsized in 2003, I was given a choice find another job within Verizon at the same level or find another job outside of Verizon. Of course I opted to transfer to another department (Residential Collections) and it was horrible. I stuck it out for a little over a year because I haas gotten so used to my lifestyle hence being so young and able to pay all my bills, save a little, and shop a lot. After a year in, I couldn’t take the stress that came from the management of the office so I left. I only had a GED, but I figured that with over 5 years of experience in the telecommunications industry with an industry giant like Verizon, I should have no problems getting another job making that type of money. Boy was I was wrong!!!!
Not saying that this is going to happen to you, but just always know that we can never be too prepared for tomorrow.
Nobody tops her – she takes the best pics. Interview was strange. Rihanna should really consider finishing high school at least! Don’t be a statistic Rhi!

Kryyystal thoroughly analyzed your comments. I will defer to her comment #169 accordingly.
I strongly believe that you could have celebrated your accomplishments without the comparison to lower salaries of your college educated friends.

My daughter just finished school to get her Masters. The College she applied for was just a College to me. I did not know the value of the school until I started talking to others who would ask how my child was doing in college and what school did she attend. Nothing wrong with educating yourself on where your child is going to Grad School at. I was just so proud and excited that she was going. I don’t think there is anything wrong with sharing your shine with others. I am going to be a new(first time)grandmother on the 29th. I guess I will have to find another site to brag about my gradndaughter.
~~~~~~~~~~
I said “they should be ashamed” Kids don’t want to listen to their parents about staying in school or getting a highter education. My father-in-law is blessed to not only be 71 but retired at 52 from the “auto industry” who can be at one job all their life and retire from one job now and days? I did say that if you are crafty, business minded that a degree is not necessary. I don’t have a degree. I have certifications/licenses to work in the State I live in and our bordering State. I actually appreciated Lovely breaking down her career. I was inpressed. My very first paying job (that took out taxes) I was 15 and my hourly wage was $3.25/hr. I was so proud and it paid for me to see my first Prince Concert as a teen.
