You knew this had to happen sooner or later: one doctor is so fuming mad over the new Obamacare bill that Barack Obama signed last week that he posted a sign on his door telling Obama voters to go “elsewhere.”
“I’m not turning anybody away — that would be unethical,” Dr. Jack Cassell, 56, a Mount Dora urologist and a registered Republican opposed to the health plan, told the Orlando Sentinel on Thursday. “But if they read the sign and turn the other way, so be it.”
The sign reads:

BEGIN RIGHT NOW.

A urologist is a doctor who treats you for medical problems with your bladder and kidneys, such as kidney stones or bladder infections.
The new bill cuts Medicare payments that doctors would receive but does not limit or put caps on medical liability or litigation against doctors that would bring medical costs down.
A few patients have complained about the sign, but Dr. Cassell says he has not turned any patients away and does not query them on their politicals.
Still, his sign has raised ethics issues. Doctors cannot refuse patients on the basis of race, gender, religion, sexual orientation or disability, but political preference is not one of the legally protected categories specified in civil-rights law.
Dr. Cassell’s lawyer wife, Leslie Campione, says most of Dr. Cassell’s patients have been “overwhelmingly supportive” of his position on the new healthcare bill.
“They know it’s not good for them,” she said.

Sandra is absolutely right. I was discussing this with my sister who is a physician. This Obama Care is bad news. Unfortunately you can’t get some people to see that until it affects them. The way I see it is every time the government gets their greeby hands into something, it’s an epic fail. Do the research. I don’t want the government in my business. JMO. I hate to tell you this, but the fact that they take a vow to treat patients and the truth are two different things. They aren’t treating patients anymore. A woman in my town had cancer and was denied a certain drug that she desperately need. She was denied because the cost was too high. She couldn’t afford the medicine so she died.
I just went through a year-long ordeal with my elderly mother who has been in and out of the hospital for over a year. I saw first hand what they do. They’ve tried to kill her twice by attempting to give her excessive amounts of a liquid form of a slow-acting morphine called Roxinol (15 mg twice a day). My mother is very sensitive to medicine. My sister and I know this because we are the ones that have kept her alive thus far. They make it a common practice to give morphine levels to the elderly, aka, throw aways they deem not worth of living because they figure they are going to die soon anyway.
I really urge people to read and research this and not just chalk it up to people “hating” on Obama.
it’s not an ethics issue. he posted a sign that says nothing specific about not serving you. nothing to see here people. he’s just suggesting you go elsewhere. he never said you will not be served or waiting on if you voted for obama.
if he’s the urologist you go to or was referred to, you can always go elsewhere, or you get what you need from him and never bring up politics.

I am for healthcare and ins reform it was needed IMO. I like somethings about the bill other things NOT so much BUT I do believe a 1st step needed to happen cause Rep. never wanted any kind of reform again IMO although they claiemd they did. I would love to get the same coverage as mbrs of COngress then it would truly be fair across the baord. Drs/Nurses are on both sides of the issue as w/most things some are for it while others are against it but Drs are about the $$$$$ so anything that will decrease their earnings I wouldnt expect them to support anyway. I do beleive everybody should have the access to quality healthcare now as to how to make that happen and appease all sides (patients, drs, nurses, ins co.)your guess is as good as mine.

@Daisy, regarding the research comment, that was just a generalized statement not to all people, but to those it applies to. If a person has done his or her research on this subject, so be it. I’m willing to bet many haven’t, but just have a viceral response to anything said against Obama.
Secondly, it’s not just about the physician’s “bottom line.” It’s about the government playing a role in health care they know nothing about. Since when has it been legal to practice medicine without a license? Physicians will be under their control. I don’t want a doctor who cannot practice his or her craft w/o allowing Daddy Government to dictate what he or she does. That’s my point.
Thirdly, we’ll all just have a “wait and see” attitude. If it works, I’ll eat my words, but I’m telling you, I’ve seen it first hand and it ain’t pretty.
