At 7 p.m. tonight, U.S. President Barack Obama unveiled his $447 billion jobs creation plan in a speech to a joint session of Congress.
“I am sending this Congress a plan that you should pass right away. It’s called the American Jobs Act,” said Obama. “Everything in here is the kind of proposal that’s been supported by both Democrats and Republicans – including many who sit here tonight. And everything in this bill will be paid for. Everything.
A breakdown of the jobs package sounds similar to the $300 billion pork-filled stimulus package that Obama signed right after taking office in 2009. According to CBS, more than $100 billion will go towards infrastructure and a similar amount will be comprised of money to states to hire more teachers and first-responders and tax breaks for small businesses.
There was no mention of tax hikes to help pay for the jobs package, but we know that’s coming. Still, economists see no Hope or Change in Obama’s latest money wasting proposal.
“It’s not good stimulus,” said Alice Rivlin, a Democratic member of the president’s Debt Commission and former head of the Office of Management and Budget.
“It doesn’t come online fast enough. If you’re really talking about things that will create jobs quickly, you need to rely on either direct government hiring in the manner of things done in the Great Depression, or demand-side things that will get more money spent by wage earners,” she said. Source
Others referred to tonight’s unveiling of Obama’s jobs creation plan as just another campaign speech.
“For cripes sake, he moved [his speech] up an hour in order to accommodate a football game,” wrote HotAir.com’s Allahpundit.

Fulton County Workforce Development operates from job training stimulus money. I have a B.A. in Communications and couldn’t find work in my field for over 2 years with 10 years experience. Last year, I decided to go to nursing school because that field is in high demand and I need a career to sustain me when I get older-can’t beat a goverment nursing job. Because I already have a degree, I’m not eligible for Pell Grants. Well, the state of Georgia gave me over $8K for school clear and free, and they also helped my son when he was short on school monies with a Pell Grant. It’s these type of programs that suffer when voters worry about more taxes- I’m all for it.
I didn’t watch the speech but it’s a shame that the only time Obama comes out fighting is when his back is against the wall.
The only problem is is if Obama can substain this intensity.

I really don’t have anything to add regarding his speech. I think it was necessary and he sounded pretty stern with his tone…but I do have to say one thing:
After his speech when the political analysis was going on, I heard someone say that there were a large handful of republicans who didn’t even show up to the address. Someone enlighten me, has this ever been an option with any other president when he is addressing the Congress? If not that is the most blatant display of disrespect I have ever witnessed regarding the POTUS.

I can’t comment on the plan til I read the details BUT for the life of me I can’t wrap my head around people who think this country’s economic situation is going to turn around without raising taxes. Hell, if it means we won’t be the laughing stock of the world fighting over the budget every 3-6 months raise my damn taxes. I will gladly pay them because I’m smart enough and rational enough to realize that there’s a bigger picture here. And I can’t really afford to lose extra money but if I’m willing there’s no reason why those who can afford it are the main ones crying about it

Exactly…Just for the record Obama rescheduled this address once already because House Speak Bahner (sp) complained that the republicns already had a meeting schduled at the same time…Ummm sir this is the President of the United States. Would you tell your boss that he needs to reschedule the staff meeting because you had a lunch date? Your arse would be fired. The Republicans are going to reap what they sow big time but to be completely honest Obama needs to stop letting them punk him. They dont give and F, he needs to go ahead and pull a 40 Year Virgin/Kevin Heart moment “U asked for a n***a? well, n***a here now”!
As for the speech, as usual Mr. President made some good, logical points. But, once again, I am left wondering how much of the proposals put forth will be put through successfully.
We are in the home stretch and it seems every fight is gonna be even more bitter than the last until we get to the end of this particular presidential term.

They should be Voting for those positions Every 1.5 years (18 months) and VOTERS should be given a Annual Report of how they voted on EVERYTHING that was put before them
