Everything rapper T.I. touches has turned to gold. so it’s a given that T.I.’s new book, Power & Beauty: A Love Story Of Life On The Streets, will at least get a mention on the NY Times Best Seller’s list after it hits store shelves tomorrow (Oct. 18).
Power & Beauty was written by T.I. while he was locked up in Arkansas on probation violation charges. The fiction novel centers around a brother and sister, both 16, who look to each other, and the streets, for safety and guidance when their mother dies.
According to Amazon.com, Paul “Power” Clay, the book’s narrator, allows himself to be guided by Slim, a local businessman who owned the nightclub where his mother died in a fiery explosion.
Power makes the difficult transition from boy to man through drugs, women, and violence, and, in doing so, begins to question if those who have taught him–including Slim–truly have his best interests at heart.
Power’s sister, Tanya “Beauty” Long rises from the gritty streets of Atlanta’s west side to take the fashion world by storm. But will their many triumphs be enough to distract from the fact that they slept with each other the same night their mother died?
T.I.’s hip hop fans might be a little uneasy with how the book deals with incest between brother and sister. While it’s a sensitive subject for some, it’s a reality for many children in the hood.
Over the weekend, T.I. took questions about his book on a live Ustream video session. Watch the Ustream video after the break:

WHY DO I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A TRAP POST…
GOOD FOR MR.CLIFORD…
so at 11 the mom could see her son lusting after his adopted sister

IDK about this at all just reading that page made me uncomfortable and Im grossed out by it!
To be honest, it sounds like an interesting read. Not what I expected, the typical urban literature.
And Sandy I didnt know this was a common issue ifor children in the hood?
And is it really incest if they arent blood?
Well now.
#LoveMyLogin
It’s not incest if they’re not really related… disturbing since they were raised as siblings but not incestuous. And I wasn’t aware that incest was ” a reality for many children in the hood.”, I understand that it’s often overlooked and covered up when it does occur but I wouldn’t never go so far as to say it’s a reality for many, at least not between actual siblings around the same age which is what you’re talking about here. I would never dare say the same for older uncles, cousins, stepparents and family “friends”. But most of the time, siblings and people who live and grow up together in such a close vicinity see a person for all their good and their bad… gross bathroom habits, just woke up face, belching at the table, dirty draws in the laundry etc., and that can kill even the smallest sexual attraction. Especially coupled with the fact that you have no secrets from each other. That’s why marriage is so hard for many especially in Hollywood where people aren’t together constantly cause if you’re basing the relationship on sexiness and all that you’re in for a major shock when you actually live together. I’m not saying it never happens but it’s not as common as you’re trying to make it out to be and it’s far from just a problem in the “hood”
Moving on though… Good luck on the book but I won’t be purchasing or buying it. But good luck to him
@XAMAYA
Apparently Morgan Freeman doesn’t think so since I hear he’s knocking down his step-granddaughter.
@Ms Everything…yea I hear you on the “uncles” and “cousins” issue among black households and how molestation is often overlooked, covered up or ignored. Now thats a major issue in black households that needs to be addressed!
@ Yso…Been knocking her down for years now. How you sex somebody you watched grow up though?
How she get around what his teeth look like?
Too many questions, going back to last post.
Good luck to him. I hope the book is successful.
The Year It Snowed in April dealt with incest and it’s a best seller. I doubt that excerpt will stop those who really wanted to buy the book from purchasing it.
Am I the only one who thought “Atleast she was adopted”…even so it makes me cringe.
@choco exacly the lil bit that i read i was like
but its clifford he cant do no wrong **sigh** let it be jay z or some other rapper they be consider sick and chit…
just kinda weird.. too weird for me
@YSO
I read the worse write up about Morgan and how he :snorts: and has wild sex parties – then once the morning hits he screams and shouts and tell all the girls to GET THE FUK OUT – the body guards usher the girls into the limo some barely clothed
@ xamayca: yes, it is a common issue for boys and girls in the hood. Parents don’t know because they don’t ask their children or they don’t want to know. And, yes, it is incest if they are raised as brother and sister.
My comment is riddled with typos smdh…
But let me correct the ones bothering me the most:
Wouldn’t never = would never
Won’t be purchasing or buying = purchasing or reading
Well alrighty then
Not interested…
@ YSO Oooooo I rmbr that! SMH WOw thats crazy
#iknowbettanow
@Lakes
Im confused as to why he would ghost write about incest unless he himself has experienced controversial yes but Im not buying it – the last thing I wanna read about is a brother sister incestuous relationship
@ Ms. Everything I used to work at a boys’ jail. The majority of the boys (mostly black) were in there for molesting their siblings (mostly their little brothers). Um, yes, I was shocked. Too many parents leave their small ones in the care of their older siblings and they are being molested.
Yuck @ Choco
Where is that blu poster that juiced his cousin?? I want to know his take on this??
@DIMPZ
We could ask Woody Allen the same thing.
#Grossness
@CHOCO
I hate hearing stuff like that about stars that I like. I used to imagine Morgan reading me bedtime stories and sht. Not any more. *shudder*
@Dimpz
I know I find Morgan’s face alarming and when I look at him I could see him acting in that manner – they said he made them call him Dr something da fluck
I love to read, but i have stopped reading urban lit years ago.. the stories are pretty much all the same. “boy comes up from nothing sells drugs chick is LSLH comes up from nothing and out of all her girls she the only one who made it, he cheats, she gets mad, they get back together blah blah blah….” I wish him success on the book though.

But after him having that car accident I think while going to cheat or with who he was cheating with and marrying his stepchild my image of him was forever ruined

_______________
Exactly. It’s gross whether the sibling is a blood relative or just related in name only.
Also, the only thing thats really stopping me from reading this book is that its such typical african american hood drama with a mixed chick as the leading character. Meh, there’s so many books like this already I don’t know what makes this one stand out. Either way I like TI so I wish him the best of luck.

If it’s good enough for Woody Allen……
that is gross… but he took it there… i actually will probably read it.

Xamayaca it’s a huge problem but it bothers me when it’s touted as just in black households cause it’s a problem across the board and actually other races are just as likely to cover it up, especially in well off families where the abuser is the one financing everyone. I’ve been there in my own life so I know and understand but what I will say is that blacks in general don’t like to involve the police but they’ll do their own “justice” so to speak. Somebody may kick the person’s ass a few times, everyone (well many) has that relative that people won’t let watch the kids and will tell their daughters to stay away from but they won’t actually call the fvcking police and get the sick bastard locked up and prosecuted for what he did. That pisses me off to no end
Sandra: No if they are not related by blood it is NOT incest anyway that you look at it and can not/should not be classified as such. Creepy and sick
Incest
ESPECIALLY since it’s stated clearly in the excerpt that they were 11 years old when she was adopted. You can’t even play that off as saying they were raised together cause both kids were dang on teenagers when she was brought in the home
Please take the tape off your mouths and discuss the book like the mature adults that I know you all are. I was so proud of my weekend readers and how maturely they discussed the McDonald’s beating case.
@choco i pass on this book…
I just don’t know why he would do that – Its almost like he’s condoning it – I mean just the wrong message
@ xamayca: Clearly you’ve never read Native Son by Richard Wright. Hands down the best urban lit ever, IMO.
@xamayca
Yes i love both of those books, but some of the books that are being put out now idk… feels like the authors are throwing anything out there and ppl are reading the books sometimes the editing and everything is a mess.. anything for a quick buck i guess

It’s not about being mature or immature, IMO! People are covering their mouths because they feel like it’s a trap post and feel they cannot express what they really want for fear of wanting to log in and SURPRISE, they cannot! McDonalds & Clifford are two different posts entirely!

TI and Tiny are supposed to be writing a relationship book together
@Sandra but you were at a boy’s prison, by no means are those young men the majority or the standard for what goes on. If those boys are locked up they’re unfortunately already disadvantaged, probably abused, with anger/mental issues but those boys are a minority. If it seems like they’re the majority it’s simply because there are so many in one place. You can’t make a sweeping judgement on what goes on in homes based on what you’ve seen at a boys prison or any prison. That’s no different than other races making sweeping judgments and assumptions of black culture based on what they see on reality shows and in music videos. It’s sad for them and their families but I refuse to believe that excessive numbers of siblings molesting siblings is happening everyday in black hoods around this country. It’s a problem, yes, but it doesn’t just affect low income families, nor does it just occur in black households and it’s not as big of a problem as your write up made it seem.
And I’m just speaking on incest between siblings near/around the same age, not molestation from older family members like I stated above
At least Tip trying something different, the book is not my type of read but he gets an “A” for effort
I FEEL LIKE A DAM SEAL IN THE MIDDLE OF THE OCEAN WITH A SHARK LURKING… WAITING TO EAT *BAN* MY AZZ

@ NaijaGal: it was written by a black man, therefore it’s urban literature. Though I agree with you that it is a literary classic as well
@ Naija Yesss I heard for awhile that Jada Pinkett was supposed to play Winter…that would have been great! I still to this day every few years pick it up and read Coldest Winter…the sequels (midnight) having been on the same level either.
And Yess I agree with Tyree not being able to touch Flyy Girl ever again.

I THINK IT’S RATHER CREEPY THIS IS THE SUBJECT THAT CLIFFORD HAS DECIDED TO WRITE ABOUT! It’s creepy when ANYONE writes about things like this, but especially an African American attempted author! Ion see how any of this should be on the NY Times Best Seller’s list (and I know I have not read the book) but from the excerpt you gave us (which is usually the part the person whose excerpting is digging the most) ion see no Best Seller!

@ Ms. Everything: those boys are the ones who were caught and turned in by their parents. MOST parents do nothing but hide their family secrets under the rug.
While it’s a sensitive subject for some, it’s a reality for many children in the hood.
——-
I disagree with the term “hood” incest is common period. It doesn’t matter where you live, it is very common. Reality is we all know of young girls who have babies by their fathers, brothers, etc. I remember growing up learning the reason you don’t sleep with your relatives is because it produces mentallay disabled babies etc. The book does seem like a good read, however I will not be reading as I am still trying to make sense of my Algebra textbook. I am so sure some of those x & y’s have incested as a – and a + that = a square root is fluckin retarded.

How sad is it Sandra that even in 2011 some things are so taboo to be discussed openly. I mean my mama married a woman but I gots some cousins (first) who married but nobody brings that up d’oh.
@ Brii the midnight books are suppose to be the prequel to the coldest winter ever while they were okay they really dont answer alot of questions
Did T.I really write this book? I didn’t see any of his big words:
Acronym
Abbreviation
Evolve
Paranoia
Jaded
Fend
Consideration
Phenomenal
Instinctively
Influence
Meticulous
Now if it read as follows – I meticulously smashed my phenomenal Asian adopted sister (after taking into consideration that we weren’t blood re;ated) on the night of Mama’s funeral – I may believe he wrote it. Otherwise
@Dawn, so ur a “Blu” too?
LMAO.
The Coldest Winter and Fly Girl were great… I also read both Midnights…
When Power describes peeking through the keyhole at his sister, what boy didn’t do that? I draw the line at masturbating while thinking of your sister though. That’s disgusting.
Sandra I agree on Native Son – GREAT book (although it’s not urban fiction, it’s just a good book and a must read for everyone imo) and @Choco I loved Coldest Winter Ever and Flyy Girl but most urban hood fiction gets the side eye from me. Maybe cause I’m no longer in the hood, have no interest in reliving my life in the hood and therefore don’t want to read books about it or maybe it’s the fact that alot of books that are geared towards more mature readers just aren’t written in a way that interests me but I pass on most of them. And I love to read but some of these books I’ll get a chapter in and put it down. Some I don’t even make it that far. I read books to escape not to drag myself back to a place I’ve already been (if that makes sense)
For some reason this book seems like it’s gonna be a slightly tamer Zane novel and I just can’t even attempt to drum up the desire to be interested enough to read it

I agree with this. Too many times secksual abuse is covered up in families, and no one wants to talk about it/acknowledge it. And abuse tends to be cyclical, so it never stops.

Can we have a post on swinging? I learned (I got tricked… a few times) that it is very common in the hood as well. I never knew it was so popular among black married couples… regular everyday folks be swinging like they on a play ground.. all for various reasons.
I don’t read “hood” literature cause, like most things (movies, music) marketed toward black folks, I find them to be boring/predictable with the same common themes used over and over.
I did enjoy The Coldest Winter Ever though.

Okay maybe I should clarify some… Sandra (and Jay and Dawn) I agree that incest is a problem, I’m with you on that, my issue is with it being written down as a “hood” problem and with it being portrayed as a sweeping problem through the black community. I’ve known too many functional families to say that it’s affecting so many. Hell most times in the teenage years, brothers and sisters can’t stand each other at all. And like I said it affects everyone, across the board, all races and cultures and income levels. (and I’m ONLY talking between brothers and sisters, I was molested by an uncle and almost every woman I know black, white, puerto rican, mexican or purple has a similar story unfortunately)
Now as far as the book goes… this is NOT incest he’s talking about. This is 2 pre-teens at the stage where they’re just discovering themselves being brought to live in the same home by an idiot (fictional or not) idiot woman who thought she could raise them as siblings. Anyone with sense knows that if you take 2 teenagers and put them under the same roof with little to no constant adult supervision and they have no real familial connection, sexual relations will eventually occur. It may not happen right away but best believe at some point those kids are gonna do some type of screwing around. It’s what hormonal curious teenagers do with each other. The same will occur with adults. You can’t tell two 11 year olds that they’re related when they’re not and logically expect them to act as such

AND after that Lolita Files book “Child of God”…I need not read nathan else about incest betwix brother and sister. And I though VC Andrews was bad
Yall still crazy says:
@Jaybee
I read somewhere a year ago, that our children (ages 12-17) have the highest rates of certain std’s EVER!
There is more oral/anal sex occuring and they are not seeing that “as sex”.
~~~~
Yes sex education is dead… and now politics are involved if your children can or should be taught about sex and healthy sex in school.. just look back in the 80’90’s damn near 70’s we had health education including practicing sex safe, knowing signs and symptoms of stds, etc but now…. schools are cutting the curriculum or OHHH we dont have money for it And some parents are too lazy to inform
Well I say if parents(especially women) stop telling their kids that uncle in there sleep knowing, gooden hell well that is your boyfriend, u confuesed these kids from day one, how is momma and uncle sleeping in the same bed, when they know it should be mommy and daddy, there is something wrong here, and it starts in the home. they dont need jail, they need intervention, because a normal person dont think this way.
DAWN!
Midnight is NOT the sequel heffa!! I have that book and its more of a prequel…
but what other book by her do u have?
@Jay… I may be slow this morning but huh? I really didn’t understand your last comment to me. Sorry
@Yso
#113 you said what I was trying to say
though VC Andrews was bad
Flowers in the Attic
ANOTHER WINNER, Auntie!!!
I’m surprised at Clifford—he can really write. Can’t believe that I am going to be purchasing this child’s book.
And the subject of incest: I’m glad that he’s covering the sister/brother incest angle because NO ONE likes to talk about that subject. It used to be that people didn’t believe that mothers, fathers, uncles, aunts, AND GRANDADS did this to their own. NOW THAT THAT’S DONE TO DEATH, people aren’t so ignorant about the subject as they used to be.
NOW WE CAN TALK about ANOTHER aspect of this human outrage: Incest between siblings, close cousins, and the like.
My hat is off to you, Sandra! Great post and topic. For the mature only.
@Kdub, OMG i own that damn book too and i only read it one time cus…
it was doing too much..
but Virginia Andrews is the author that got me into reading….i read my first book by her at 11 and ws hooked so im forver loyal to that deceased heffa…her post-death writing team has stirred away from the incestuous stuff for the most part tho…
@ KDub….How the hell couldja be worse than VC Andrews? ALL her books got some incest goin on!
Ms Everything.. I see your point.. agree to disagree! and you have some that just understands that it is off limits….relation or no relation.
Another thing I think everybody is caught up on “incest”…
she was adopted and in terms of my job once a child is adopted and mate with another in the family its considered incest.. Family is not just blood…
*fluffs ur fro’*
@ His…Me too! I read FITA when I was 9. I guess you didn’t read Child of Darkness. That dude had a harem of him own daughters.
Even the non incest ones, the few there are, has somebody being violated. I wonder if VC was violated, incestous, a maschochist or all of the above.
I’m surprised at Clifford—he can really write.
He didn’t write the book – a lot of them aren’t writing their own books they put their name on it – just like Coco (Ice-T’s wife)
@His I agree Midnight was a prequel and it was the slowest read for me. I finished it and it was good and served it’s purpose about giving us more insight on his life but it was so slow and hard for me to get into. I was expecting for her to eventually get into his life after Winter or a story that ran concurrent to Coldest Winter explaining where he was and what he was doing during that time.
@Dawn… I wanna know too what is the other book?
I have never read VC Andrews. Those just ain’t my kind of books.
Who is this VC Andrews goes to
And the subject of incest: I’m glad that he’s covering the sister/brother incest angle because NO ONE likes to talk about that subject
Somehow although I haven’t read the book in its entirety Im under the opinion that the story line is somehow glorifying incest –
Two quick questions…
i just noticed…the book is authored by TI (with david ritz). How much o the book is TI? and how much of it is David Ritz?…cause i can see itz writing this ad TI slapping his name on it for marketing\sales.
second question
Paul “Power” Clay, the book’s narrator, allows himself to be guided by Slim, a local businessman who owned the nightclub where his mother died in a fiery explosion. Doesn’t this sound real 50 cent in “Get Rich or Die Trying”?
@ Creamychic – Great point…never looked at it like that, but I can definitely see the potential connection. Because if Ray Ray is my so called uncle, then that makes him your brother and yall are definitely
Confusion all around. Poor babies.
@Kdub, OMG i own that damn book too and i only read it one time cus… it was doing too much..
KDub….How the hell couldja be worse than VC Andrews? ALL her books got some incest goin on!
——————————————————————–
HONEY…”Child of God” by Lolita Files got Virginia C. Andrews BEAT. That ish was AWFUL you hear me? The main character Ophelia was the product of her momma and her HOMOSEXUAL uncle. And then she had some kids who went on down the road to incest! Throw in some voodoo and you got: incest, homosexuality, and voodoo…IN ONE BOOK.
I had joined a book club and THAT was the book they was reading when I came in…after that book…I was like Meeka “FUKK YALL CIRCLE…I’m out!”
Choco aka Hippie says:
Ive read Coldest Winter – and I loved it! I haven’t read anything in a long time
And i meant to say Tiny and TIP
My absolute fav book. Jada Pinkett was supposed to turn it into a movie but it was never bought to fruition. I hope that someone will pick up the financing for that project and turn it into a film. *Hints hints Auntie or Uncle Tyler Perry* Natalie Nunn can play Winter
o and Bishop Eddie Long can play “MIDNIGHT”
I’m not interested in this book…read all the ‘hood stories you guys are speaking about…Coldest Winter Ever being my all-time favorite, and White Lines being the most recent urban tale I’ve read… Like @Kdub said, I’ve moved on to other types of literature because most urban tales have the same elements within the plot…
But to speak about incest between brother and sister, it is disturbing, but it is more common than I thought…
When I was in high school some classmates of mine, who were brother and sister, were caught in the shower screwing each other (and they were blood). The way everyone found out is the mother caught them and she ran out of the house screaming on the front lawn about what she had just saw and she was praying to God out loud…once that happened all the neighborhood kids starting spreading it all over school…some SICK chit indeed!
@blackswan yea the midnight book was not that interesting, but the was talk about a book for when she is relesed from prison after 5 years i think?
Jay.. yes agree to disagree. I get what you’re saying in terms of adoption but at the same time it’s illogical to assume that when you adopt someone at such a late age and the same age as the other children in the home that the kids are going to start seeing each other as sister and brother. I was raised with my godbrother and because we were actually raised together from birth, we view each other as blood sister/brother even though we aren’t related. But if you’d put us together as teenagers where we knew the difference and didn’t have the same experience we would’ve been screwing all other the damn house. When you adopt someone as a baby or a young child of course the kids will view each other as real family but it’s different as the kids get older and that’s something that people need to realize to avoid things like this. Not excusing or saying it’s right but it’s something that needs to be considered. You can’t just program children into believing someone is their relative just because you, the parent, said so
@MSONE
I used to pray I could star as Winter if they ever made the book into a movie
I still think they’re gonna try to make TCWE into a movie once Willow gets of age.
*waits for Ms. Everything to make us some dranks*
i finished Midnight in 3 days and i was into it because of how well she wrote the book considering his azz was only like 9-14 in the whole book…at times i forgot he was a kid…I was just annoyed at the bashing of the black hood girls..esp since that damn Akemi damn near raped his azz..how u gna call the hood girls “fast and raunchy” but the lil chinese girl was the same! cept’ she had money and lived in the ‘burbs? the was the part the annoyed me..
Blackswan says:
Now that we are discussing the book i may actually read it because i am wondering does he explore both of the characters feelings and the reaction to their relationship by the ppl that grew up with them… interesting
Cha 2x! So do you my love!
but Virginia Andrews is the author that got me into reading…
My sister told our MOMMA what I was reading and my momma wouldn’t let my sister brang them in the house no more LMAO. VC and Stephen King. I got ahold of one of HIS books (Salem’s Lot) and was scared to go to fuggin BED.
————————————————————
ME TOO. I stole my sister’s Petals on the Wind book…I used to like those lil circle shaped covers; then open to see a big pic…I was all of 9-10…started reading it…and even a young Kdub knew that ish VC was on was WRONG
@His
And I agree about Midnight…I tried to read it with an open mind, but it was really pissing me off how Souljah was chitting on American black women…I think that’s what turned me off the most about it and why it took so long for me to finish reading…
@ ms one who can play who????? lol
@ KDUBS
VC Andrews yes she took it to the max those brothers and sisters were having kids left and right but i noticed that all of them came out “perfect”..
um Dimpz..
didn’t I fluff ur fro heffa?
@ JMO: Everything is not blog worthy just because it’s being mentioned on the radio or Twitter.com. You’re right, it is considered child porn and that is why she doesn’t need any more attention.. She needs counseling, and a little something called parental control.
@ K Dubb….I love’s Stephen King! What’s the big ass epic book of his? I own it but, never read it. My mama never censored my books.
Sad to say, i’ve never seen her read a book in my life!
@CreamyChic and VDot I don’t fully agree that this could be fully avoided if some parents didn’t call everyone family and whatnot but at the same time I agree that women need to stop with that “uncle” ish and most times the kids know the truth so you’re better off just telling the truth “that’s mama’s friend/boyfriend/whatever” and locking your door. Or better yet, keep men (and women) outta your bed/house when your children are home. Even if doesn’t end badly, it just really isn’t a good look and it’s a horrible example to set
I love James Patterson’s books also they can be a bit gruesome but he keeps you on the edge of your seat!!
Lol you know what Choco! Whelp if Auntie finances it, you just may have the part! Lemme start giving out roles now. Choco=Winter me:Mercedez or porcha Auntie: Winter’s mom Pre-Drug habit. Man I don’t care=Mr. Santiago and the list goes on and on.
Best Seller: Just Ask written by Choco
@ MzDimplez
I tried reading Stephen King, but IT scared the shat out of me !!
@ BlackSwan…I love James Patterson. I can’t wait for Kill Alex Cross next month. He didn’t have to kill Kyle Craig though.
I LOVED the Mastermind.
Choco=Winter me:Mercedez or porcha Auntie: Winter’s mom Pre-Drug habit. Man I don’t care=Mr. Santiago and the list goes on and on.
My heart will be pounded if I don’t land that role
Why is it when a black author write on the subject or alludes to it in a movie it is sooooo taboo.. But VC Andrews sold millions of books based on it and “The Blue Lagoon” was nominated for Academy Awards???
@MzDimplez, I wondered the same about V.C. You’re right all her books had either, incest, rape or child molestation or all of those. I had to stop reading her stuff.
I’m not interested in this book at all. I read The Bluest Eye and Push when I was younger and all that is just way too much. If you were raised together, it’s perverted to have sex or even be attracted to one another. I don’t even see how someone could see their sibling, adopted or not, like that.
My parents were so convinced that me and my step brother wanted each other. He was far from my type. I just blow it off on them being sick in the head.
s/n
If you like urban fiction, read the True to the Game series. Its one of my favs.
I think this was a bigger problem in my moms time now, parents are more watchful. Like u teach your kids where they shouldn’t be touched. But back in the day yes. My mom did not play and I’m thankful I didn’t get touch growing up…
@Choco I probably could’ve said that better
if you’d put us together suddenly as teens (where we didn’t have the same relationship) and expected us to behave like relatives (when we aren’t) we would’ve been screwing, simple as that. Because that’s what teenagers unfortunately do. Now, me and him, never would and have never considered it (at least not on my end and I hope not on his) but we literally were in diapers together, took baths together, slept in the same room til puberty hit, and so on… by the time we were maybe 12 we hated each other until adulthood because we were so close to each other. Then his friends were hitting on me, my friends wanted him, it was just a mess.
@His let me see if I can find a decent drink I haven’t tried yet
@ Dimplez
I love the Alex Cross series. Have you read season of the machete?? That book is crazy random killing for no reason also Swimsuit too.
I’ve never read the bluest eye either. Is it a good read?
Me and @Brown was tambout Alex Cross yesterday! That Cross Country book (on CD) put me on the OUTS with James Patterson. I mean I knew Alex was great but dayum he tried to make him an international superhero…all in Africa…he kilttoo many people in that book.
I been reading Alex Cross since the BEGINNING.
And yes I love Kyle Craig. Gary Sonjei…Cassanova. All of ’em.
@ Blackswan…I’ve never read either or those. I only read the Cross and Maximum Ride series.
I had to post twice cause this site is tripping
@ KDubb….Soneji was a BEAST BUT, Craig was my favorite.
@DIMPZ
Stephen King is my favorite author of all time so most of what I read falls under his “genre”. I’ve read all his epic, 1000+ long books too.
I also like crime noir, mystery, and sci-fi.
@ FeFe: did you read about the blood brother and sister who were arrested after having sex in a train station in London?
A lot of people are. Please be watchful. Your children should sleep in their OWN room or with you. When I take my daughter to her grandparents, I bring her play pen for her to sleep in. I love my ex’s brothers and his dad but I don’t know what they’re capable of. I know that just by bringing her playpen, it won’t prevent anything but that’s the best I know right now.
Kyle Craig is dead?! Dang! I’d yet to read that one. You have to make time to keep up with Patterson’s novels.
HELLO FURRY HOBURGERS :wave: HIS…C’mere…let me read you boo
LAKER…YOU GOT BOOOOOOOOOBIES
Hey FE FEESTER, YSOLITA, and Ms EVERYTHANGS
@Sandra
Yeah, I heard about that….weren’t both of them mentally slow or something like that?
here you go @His… it’s a Pink Panther: pink lemonade with malibu, a slice of pineapple and whipped cream. I may try it tonight since I have all the ingredients.
@Sandra, thank you for not posting that story about the 14 year old. It broke my heart for so many reasons
@ OHPretty……….I’m sooooooooooooooooo sorry! I didn’t mean to ruin for you.
If he makes you feel any better, he went out like a “G”.
@CHACHA
LOOK AT THAT PURRTY SMILE… GIRL YES I REFUSE TO GO BACK TO VICTORIA SECRET I SWEAR THEY WANNA REMESURE ME ERRTIME
Zoe B, if you dont trust your exes brothers and father to that extent why do you even bother to take your child there with them? Not judging you, just curious on your thoughts
Hey @Cha!!!
Choco I probably could’ve said that better if you’d put us together suddenly as teens
I think becuz of my own molestation that chit ain’t sitting with me too well!
CHACHELLA!! :hugs:
@Dimpz – It’s ok
There’s no way but “like a G” for Craig to go out. That is one villian I LOVED.
I don’t like the typical ‘hood lit’ either but DUTCH was the ish. That could have been a movie. I really hated the last installment. Terri could have kept that.
*logs in to kick MZD’s azz for telin me Kyle Craig got kilt*
*logs back out*
@Zoe I understand your fear but at the same time I’m with Cha, if I have to take that many precautions my children won’t be there. I don’t send my kids (girls or boy) to anyone’s home, regardless of relationship, if I’m not comfortable with them. They could take me to court but I will not budge on that. Have they given you a reason for being so fearful?
@LAKERLOSITA..what size are you? are you a double?
*guzzles Everythings gravi*
Chaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa *opens up like a book*
Choco I understand, I’ve said before on here, I’ve been there myself but I think of the way mine occurred I can discuss stuff like this but to this day, even as an adult, I can’t be alone with an old man outside of my blood relatives who raised me. I start panicking and getting ready to fight if they even look at me even though I’m grown now
@CHACHA THEY **THE SKINNY BISHES AT VICKY** SAY IM A DOUBLE D
I CONSIDER MYSELF A 38 D… BUT THEY DO LOOK KINDA SNUG #DENIALISABYTCH
<<for nasty makeup pic
@HIS I TXT U ONE MO AGAIN AND… NOTHING
Sowry Luscious.
@ Oh Pretty…I liked Dutch up til the last one too. I think it ws His that told me I need to buy the underground version to like that ending though.
@MSE
Yep it does haunt you – which is y that statement made me cringe they were teenagers and I was five I used to get babysat at their house so Im grossed the fuk out
@Cha
:hugs:
@Lakes
Im 38DD them chicks do know I used to be a 38D and bought a bra from Vic’s and the DD fit better
@MS E
That is why I won’t let my boys spend overnights/weekends with their older brothers.
Like all of my aunt’s kids, the tow older ones have been in the system for a while and there was documented past abuse. Considering how my aunt barely supervises the kids when they are together, I am not at all comfortable with those kinds of visits. And she doesn’t seem to want them to come to my house with I might feel better about. She wants full control meaning doing them at her house.
I don’t want to penalize the boys for something they had no control over but it’s a big concern that I can’t ignore.
@Cha Because I was and I’m not sure if it’s me projecting or not so i’m scoping
@Ms E no I think I may be scorned from when I was a child
@Laker liar
@HIS forgive me bew i do not know what i speak off..
@Dimpz,KDUB and OhPretty
Try the Honeymoon, BeachHouse or BeachRoad thise are some very very good books.
@choco
i know im in denial tho.. i hate big bra they dont come in lace or purrty patterns MOST of the time..
@Choco I understand and if I’d been in your position I would feel the same way
@Yso exactly and it’s not the boys fault, it’s the parenting. My daughter wants to go to a sleepover for Halloween and doesn’t understand why I said no but I don’t know the parents and I don’t know how they intend on supervising so many kids or who all will be there. Their friends can come here, I’m fine with that, but not over there when I don’t know them. One of my best friends mom used to have sleepovers for us and our really close guy friends could come (she had a brother and we all grew up/went to school together) but she watched us like a hawk and girls/boys slept in separate rooms once we hit a certain age because regardless of closeness we were not all related and you couldn’t expect us to act as such. More adults need to realize these things but unfortunately they think they can sit back and just tell kids to do one thing and assume they’ll listen
Zoe I don’t know your situation but if I were you, I’d try to cut back on overnights with them until you are either more comfortable or until your daughter is old enough to tell you if something is wrong. If you’re worried, you’ll be stressed and some of that will rub off on her and even if everything is great, she’ll start seeing those visits as a source of stress
Zoe B. says:
@Cha Because I was and I’m not sure if it’s me projecting or not so i’m scoping
I understand. I understand completely. Have you ever spoke to your childrens father about your concerns?
!*LaKErCHiC@*! says:
@choco i know im in denial tho.. i hate big bra they dont come in lace or purrty patterns MOST of the time..
You mean the ones with the fat azz straps… ahahahahaha
@CHA
THEM IS SOO FUKN UGLY
@ Blackswan – I’m up to date on those and yes they were gooood!
@Cha Nope he’ll probably blow up lol I haven’t seen him in months. I drop her off at his parents and he gets her from there. I don’t ever want to see that man again in my LIFE!!! We communicate through his mother or through text. He doesn’t deserve to hear my voice and his voice annoys the LIVING HELL out of me.
Im just wondering why the hell T.I. cant write a bood without a bunch of folks havin something negative to say about it….
*So the fukk what is the sister is mixed. Why everybody gota be black ass sh*t for SOME females to be satisfied??
*On the subject of incest…please dont be up in here ACTING like you dont know MORE THAN a few children that used to HUNCH and some more thangs when u was growin up. In ya own damn families at that. Please do not act. Lil boy around the corner from me did time for molesting BOTH of his lil sisters. Its gross, but the sh*t happen. Its some hunchers up in here, I BET!!
*What’s with all the hate for Black literature? Damn some black folks be hatin themselves to the point that I guess self-hate is popular. SMH
NOBODY can beat V.C. Andrews’ “Flowers in the attic” series (that came out in the 80s)…about incest between a full brother and sister…MAN, it’s been a minute since I read about Cathy and them…
Nah not for me…………..
@Lala, you are so right about that. As if Flowers wasn’t bad enough, I read the prequel and the books following. GAG! In the prequel, I was mad at the parents for not telling that girl & boy that he was not her “half” uncle, but was really her “half” brother. It probably wouldn’t have mattered though since they were so determined to hook up. All V.C’s books have that same element in them. Don’t know why I read so many before I called it quits. I guess it’s because the story lines would be good/interesting other than all the incest, raping and molesting going on. Plus, there was also the common theme of biological father’s being dead or somehow out of the picture and women choosing men over their kids. Smh.
@SugarPie, it is what it is. People are going to give their opinions about books or future books. Some of us don’t like it. *shrug*
SOUNDS LIKE AN INTERESTING READ..
OK T.I. I C U
