Loyal reader Y’all Crazy sent in this account of a Erykah Badu concert she attended recently. It’s a long read, but it’s important for you to know what you might experience if you spend your hard earned rent money on Erykah Badu tickets. Erykah doesn’t care about you.

Hello Sandra,

I thought you’d be interested in a subpar performance that I witnessed.

I attended a concert this past Saturday, featuring Erykah Badu, Doug E. Fresh, and Slick Rick. I was very excited, especially since it was a spur-of-the-moment idea. I had the best seat in the house, Box 1! Too make a long story short, Doug E. Fresh ripped the stage up yo! He had the crowd pumping and everyone in the place was up out of their seats dancing and having a good time. Next Slick Rick joined him on the stage and together they rocked the house! Before we knew it, Doug E. Fresh started saying that he had a special guest in the building and that he was bringing him out. Doug E. Fresh introduces Big Daddy Kane! Their performances were superb! The crowd was hyped. When they announced that their set was over, the audience was still rocking to the music and giving them much respect, via the applause and shout-outs.

Intermission was 30 minutes, and they brought out a lame dj who claimed that he was a comedian, or wanted to be one, and long story short, I don’t know who that dude was, or what he did… He didn’t dj & he wasn’t funny… The audience began booing louder than the music.

We waited, and waited, for over an hour for Erykah Badu to come on the stage. By this time the crowd was mad and not at all receptive to her! She didn’t sing all of her hits, and even worse than her punctuality was her attire. She could have left the trench coat that she came out in on! She assumed the crowd would be friendly because she had on a White Sox hat, wrong! She seemed very nonchalant and even stated that she’d already gotten paid. She did not offer her audience an apology and had enough nerve to mention that the audience wasn’t showing her any love. Three times she “acted” as if her set was over. The first time that people began leaving and she requested that the lights be turned on & attempted to convince them to sit back down by saying “sit your mother*ckin asses back down”. Who does that?

I have been a fan since she got on the scene, but she will never ever get my money for a concert. Thank goodness for the guys that put on a stellar performance before her. I know she’s from your neck of the woods, and if I could tell her anything it would be this:

Show some respect for your fans! We paid good money to see you. You could have at least apologized. How dare you come out in floral leggings with a tiger print hoodie, and some stilettos (even though they were sharp!) to perform. Act like you care. I heard several die-hard fans speak in disbelief.

We love you but you’ve gotta respect us if you want our continued support.

Sincerely,
Yall Crazy
