CNN anchor Anderson Cooper finally emerged from the closet after years of hiding his lifestyle from the public.

“The fact is I’m gay,” wrote CNN anchor Anderson Cooper in a poignant letter to longtime friend, Andrew Sullivan of the Daily Beast.

“I have given some the mistaken impression that I am trying to hide something – something that makes me uncomfortable, ashamed or even afraid,” Anderson wrote.

“This is distressing because it is simply not true.

“The fact is, I’m gay, always have been, always will be, and I couldn’t be any more happy, comfortable with myself, and proud,” he added.

Cooper follows in the footsteps of fellow CNN anchor Don Lemon, who found the courage to leave the cramped confines of his closet to embrace his fears and uncertainties.
