JET features first gay couple

JET® Magazine celebrates “the Diversity of Love” by featuring the first gay male couple in their “Love” section, featuring wedding photos sent in by readers. The most recent issue, on newsstands now, features the third couple since August 2011, but this is the first issue to include a gay male couple.

The Massachusetts-based couple, Dr. Ravi Perry and Paris Prince, who shared with JET® how they met while Ravi was studying for his Ph.D.

“The two gentlemen are a delightful couple that overcame significant obstacles to be together,” said Mitzi Miller, editor in chief, JET®. “Personally and as a policy here at JET® Magazine, we respect and embrace all humanity regardless of sexuality. There is no reason not to include same sex couples in our celebration of Black love.”

“Dr. Tenika Jackson and Nyema Vernon, from Los Angeles, Calif., were the first same sex couple featured in JET®, August 8, 2011; and Davone Madison and Tiffany Jackson, from Queens, N.Y., were featured in the magazine’s March 5, 2011 issue,” writes JET® in a press release promoting the current issue of JET®.
