It turns out that Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III, aka RG3, is a normal, red-blooded male who enjoys attention from more than one woman. Most men don’t get caught sexting with their side pieces on their wedding night though.
Meredith Barber, a VCU student, Hooters waitress and Redskins fan, was busted trying to sell explicit photos and text messages from Griffin, sent to her on his wedding night.
The sexting drama unfolded when Twitter user, Brandon K., sent an email to the Busted Coverage sports blog claiming to have uncovered suspicious tweets between Meredith, RG3, and William Mallow, one of Griffin’s groomsmen, the night of Griffin’s wedding to college sweetheart Rebecca Liddicoat.
“So I was looking through RGIII’s twitter feed the night of his wedding,” Brandon wrote. “I followed his RTs to a groomsman of his, William Mallow. Going through his twitter feed I found a girl he RT that said she missed him. She looked hot so I looked at her feed.”
Brandon continued: “THat night one of her friends tweeted “RGIII getting married today. Will @Mere__ crash the wedding?” She responds immediately with “I could show Becky this though” — and its a picture of her text messages with a guy name RgIII in her phone. The text show a black guy lifting up his shirt showing a six pack and trying to get her to respond. This is 1am July 6th (day of wedding) and then finally gives up after no response from her.”
Busted Coverage blog was immediately intrigued by the email, so they posted the email’s contents along with a photo of Meredith wearing her Hooters uniform.
Busted Coverage then received an email from Meredith herself asking them to take the post down. She originally claimed her tweets of RG’s texts were a “joke,” and she asked to remain anonymous for the sake of her reputation and her family’s honor.
Somewhere between trying to defend her reputation and protecting Griffin, Meredith saw $$ signs.
“She contacted us yesterday to clarify some information in our Sunday post and eventually went into saleswoman mode to get us to buy what she says are “inappropriate” photos RG3 sent to her,” the blog’s editor wrote.
According to Busted Coverage, Meredith offered them more explicit texts, d*ck pics and Griffin’s full phone number — for the right price.
She also sent the blog screen caps of Griffin’s face and hers during a live video chat that seems to back up her story.
Busted Coverage blog explains what happened next: “A wild negotiation started via email and @Mere__eventually broke off the conversation when our offer of $500, for everything but the dick pics, wasn’t to her liking.”
Later, someone who writes in the same style as Meredith sent an email to sports blog Deadspin.com requesting the sum of $25,000 for Griffin’s d*ck pics, but Deadspin.com reportedly declined to make an offer.
Meanwhile, Griffin, who is honeymooning with his new bride in Europe, has yet to make a statement. But his groomsman, Mallow, did reach out to Busted Coverage with the claim that Meredith “is full of shit and is just looking to get paid.”
That would be believable except for the fact that Mallow did exchange tweets with Meredith and RG3 on Twitter.com.
And Meredith tweeted a photo of the Redskins tickets that RG3 allegedly sent her to attend one of his games.
She has since deleted the tweets and screen caps of RG3’s texts messages.
This is a better time than any to remind you women that it is never a good idea for your man to have an account on social networks unless you have his passwords. Men cannot be trusted around the female sex.
