Women’s groups are outraged by a t-shirt that is only meant to be worn once a month. American Apparel’s “menstruating vagina tee” features an illustration of a woman masturbating while her anatomically correct vajayjay is leaking blood. The shirt is on sale for $32 at American Apparel’s online store under the protracted title: “The Ardorous X American Apparel Period Power Washed Tee”. The shirt is available in one color: white, and it comes in women’s and men’s sizes.
Part of the proceeds from sales of the shirt goes to The Ardorous, an online women’s collective curated by Toronto artist Petra Collins, who “creates portraits exploring female sexuality and teen girl culture.”
