Two teenagers have been arrested in the death of V’ondra Olivaria who was shot Saturday night in her Clayton County home, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Olivaria’s mother told the AJC a teenage boy politely shook her hand when he and a friend came to her house to visit her daughters Saturday night.
Within minutes, she said, that same teenager shot and killed her 16-year-old daughter.
“My baby was in her room thinking she was safe from the harmful stuff outside,” Yolanda Rincon told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Monday. “But the devil let loose in this house.”
Shortly after the boys arrived, Rincon was startled by the sound of a gunshot.
She told the AJC she ran out of her own room and saw 17-year-old Brandon Henry Williams standing there holding a gun, a look of panic on his face.
“He scared me because I didn’t know if he was going to try to hurt us,” Rincon said.
As Rincon rushed to her daughter’s side, Williams and 20-year-old Justin Vitto, who brought Williams to the home, fled the scene.
Rincon held her dying daughter in her arms. “I could tell by looking at her it wasn’t good,” said the mother of four.
A few hours later, a police officer informed Rincon that her second oldest child was dead.
Williams was arrested Sunday night. Vitto was taken into custody late Monday night.
Williams is charged with involuntary manslaughter, reckless conduct, possession of a handgun by a person under 18, obstruction and criminal trespassing. He is being held without bond in the Clayton County jail.
Vitto is charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He is also being held without bond.
Rincon told the AJC she didn’t believe Williams intended to shoot V’ondra.
V’ondra was described by her mother as a caring teenager who loved posting selfies on Instagram and was in the 11th grade at North Clayton High School.
“He took my daughter’s life and he took his own life,” Rincon said of Williams.
“Two lives gone for nothing.”
