Congratulations to friend of the blog Shawn “Tubby” Holiday who was promoted to Senior Vice President of Urban A&R at Columbia Records! Shawn will oversee the recording projects of celebrities such as T.I. “Tip” Harris (who signed a new record deal with Shawn at Columbia), Beyonce, Alicia Keys, Mariah Carey, Lauryn Hill, and rapper J. Cole, among others. Shawn previously held the position of SVP of A&R at RCA Records since 2011.

Holiday will report to President Ashley Newton and will work out of Columbia’s Los Angeles office. Holiday has worked with such critically acclaimed artists as Akon, T.I., Lady Gaga, Jennifer Hudson and Robin Thicke, among others. Prior to that he was SVP/Head of Urban A&R at Interscope Records from 2005 to 2011.

Holiday previously held the role of SVP/Head of Urban A&R at Interscope Records from 2005 to 2011 and played an instrumental role in the success of Keyshia Cole’s first album in addition to creating hit projects by 50 Cent, The Game and Diddy, among others. Holiday also went on to engineer Interscope Records’ label partnership with Akon’s Konlive Records, which includes multi-platinum superstar Lady Gaga. In 2011, he was appointed SVP of A&R at RCA Records and Sony/ATV and worked closely with Clive Davis on such renowned artists as Jennifer Hudson and Santana.
