This week’s re-launch of Gabrielle Union’s scripted TV series Being Mary Jane failed to surpass the number of viewers who tuned in to see the much-hyped pilot episode last May.
It is difficult to promote Gabby’s main character as a strong black woman when her own private life is in shambles. Particularly if the main character is sleeping with married men on-screen, while off-screen the star’s fiancé, Dwyane Wade, has impregnated a groupie.
That scenario hits a little too close to home for some women who are dealing with similar drama at home.
According to The LA Times ratings for the second week of ‘Being Mary Jane’ pulled in 2.8 million viewers, down 15% from last weeks 3.3 million who turned in the for premiere episode.
Over 4 million viewers turned in for the feature length pilot that aired last May.

They would get alot more viewers if they air their “big” shows like “The Game” and this one etc…at 9 p.m. vs 10 p.m.
