First Lady Michelle Obama has been tasked with pressuring President Obama‘s loyal base to support his lame duck health care reform by purchasing insurance through their state exchanges.
At the end of a new ad featuring the mothers of superstars Alicia Keys, Jennifer Lopez, and Adam Levine, Michelle says, “We nag you because we love you.”
What the first lady (and her husband the president) don’t seem to understand is — if they’re not offering free handouts, the black community will not support it. Blacks are on the bottom rung of the economic ladder as it is. After 6 years in public office, Obama has not improved the black unemployment rate or the quality of life for blacks. Not to mention, Obama is jokingly referred to as the “food stamp president”.
Creating expensive commercials featuring women who can easily afford to buy the best insurance coverage doesn’t help the Obamas’ cause either.
