Sports journalist Stephen A. Smith sharply criticized rapper T.I.‘s wife, Tameka “Tiny” Harris, for disrespecting her husband on social media. Tiny’s behavior on social media leaves many insiders shaking their heads wondering what is really going on.
Last weekend, T.I. got into a shouting match with boxer Floyd Mayweather in a Las Vegas fast food restaurant. The subject of the disagreement was Tameka’s apparently platonic friendship with Mayweather, 37.
While the two men did not exchange blows, chairs were thrown by members of their entourage.
The next day Tameka, 38, took to her Instagram page and appeared to blame her husband T.I. in profanity-laced messages that would make a stripper blush.
In his strongly worded commentary during a recent episode of ESPN’s “First Take,” Smith took Tiny to task for disrespecting her husband in a public forum:
“Why would the wife go on Twitter and dime out her husband like that? That doesn’t make sense to me. If it were true, that is your husband and he is supposed to take precedent over everybody else. Even if he’s wrong, that’s something that you tell him privately. You don’t tell the world he was wrong. That’s the dude you go home to…If I have a wife and I go on Twitter and she’s telling the world that I’m wrong, the next call she may get is from a divorce attorney.”
Whether any of this is a PR stunt to boost ratings for T.I. & Tiny’s reality show on VH1 — which lags behind VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta by 1 million viewers — remains to be seen. But the damage to T.I. and Tiny’s public image has already been done.
According to an insider, alarmed VH1 execs are pondering what to do about the show since T.I. is no longer filming scenes. T.I. has been on location in New Orleans and the west coast filming the movie “Get Hard” with comedians Kevin Hart and Will Ferrell.
