Angie Martinez Resigns from Hot 97 After 15 Years

Popular radio jock Angie Martinez resigned from Hot 97 in NYC today after 15 years on the air. Martinez, who stars in the poorly received reality show This is Hot 97, announced her resignation on social media.

In the Instagram.com post, Martinez, 43, thanked Emmis Communications and the Hot 97 staff. Martinez got her start working in the promotions department before joining Funkmaster Flex on air in the early 90?s.

Martinez has a son with ex-husband Tamir “Nokio” Ruffin, 35, of Dru Hill fame.

Even though I am no longer in the tri-state, I wouldnt miss her anyways. My sister and I met her once when she came to visit a school in New Jersey and she was quite the nasty one.

Wendy is nasty in person also, but that was back, late 90s, early 2000s… so a lot could have taken place in 14-15 years to get rid of the nasties…

congrats to Monifah. that r&b divas show is a bit much at times, but, Monifah seems to be the most consistent in behaving like a ‘grown woman’ and not so much like a “diva” (whatever that word means, nowadays)

and i did love it when she called Angie out on going behind Selena’s back and booking a gig. but, again, she did it in a grown-up way and wasn’t mean-spirited, just truthful.

Ima have to defend Ang on the Nokio situation. When Angie started messing with Nokio it was when the group was blowing up and Nokio was not flaming. As a matter of fact Nokio was the one who used to roll with Ruff Rhyders deep and always in some fight. It was not till years later that he stepped out yhe closet. Now by the time she married him he might have been ghey but when they first started, maybe to the point of conception he was under cover

There was a big fallout with Chuck D and Rosenberg recently. I’m thinking maybe Angie Mar leaving Hot 97 is a casualty of that beef. I’m just speculating, but her social media announcement on the same day saying it’s her last show doesn’t sound like a planned resignation to me.

Exactly… but what should do (hot 97) is bring Miss JOnes back in the afternoons to battle angie.. They just announced she flipped the switch to Power 105.1 2-6 drive. Miss Jones although she was/is a bish. The bish was funny..and could keep up with Wendy in terms of radio Antics. I really miss Miss Jones.
