A 5-time mixed martial arts champion took on three would-be thugs who attempted to rob his co-worker.

The incident happened at a Fuel Depot gas station in Houston, Texas. Mayura Dissanyake, who was working behind the cash register, noticed his co-worker being robbed as he returned from the bank. As the co-worker pulled into a parking spot, 2 thugs who apparently followed him from the bank jumped out of an SUV and attempted to steal his bank bag.

That’s when Mayura leaped over the front counter and put his MMA skills to good use.

“The first guy I saw, I just kicked him in the face. Then I punched the other guy,” Mayura told KPRC-TV.

The 2 thugs had enough and high tailed it back to their SUV. But Mayura dropped a third accomplice with a hard right. Two of the thugs fled in the SUV, leaving their friend, Odell Mathis, 33, bleeding on the asphalt.

Mayura, who is from Sri-Lanka, has been involved in mixed martial arts for over a decade.

“We learn how to punch, how to kick … and all that stuff you can use in the streets,” he said.
