No Thanks
Bye!!!
I can’t…..not at work
RIP Big Mike
I’m watching it at work just trying to hold back my tears.
So, the NY Post issued an article TODAY stating that Michael Brown was “no angel.”
What azzes….
My God this is hard to watch. I’ve been watching almost 2 hours and I think I’m about done. Can’t handle no more.
@Man That makes me so ill. I hung with NOTHING but sprites my Sophomore and Junior year of high school and they were no angels either but I bet if that was them laying on that asphalt they would be perfect little lambs
Lord, help me. I tried not to watch, but am listening to Reverend Al deliver the eulogy right now.
@Blanche and Man,
Cuz as we all know, “those types” can do no wrong. Thay are the paragan of perfection and the epitome of righteousness.
@BLANCHE
“That makes me so ill. I hung with NOTHING but sprites my Sophomore and Junior year of high school and they were no angels either but I bet if that was them laying on that asphalt they would be perfect little lambs ”

The NY Post has use the quote “he was no angel” for two other people:
Whitey Bulger
Al Capone
(and now Michael Brown)
Let that chit sink in for a minute.
Man, Al Sharpton puttin all they chit out there today.
@Man,
You know their choice of words was no coincidence. But let a Black person paint a White person in that light, and they will be all over them like butta and sugah on white rice. The Black person will no longer have a job.
Ummm no I can’t handle that. Not today….
com’on already!
As for NY post
The NY Post has use the quote “he was no angel” for two other people:

They disgust me.
So they put Al on the CNN APP, but not on CNN TV.
That nigga goin hard in the paint!
The NY Post is becoming more and more of a joke…..Chris Matthew is going to go in on them tonight
Watching his mother this morning had me in tears
I never ever what to know what it feels like to lose a child to gun violence
A friend lost two of her sons to gun violence, one year apart :crying1:
So, they got family members from Trayvon Martin, Sean Bell, Oscar Grant, Jordan Davis AND Emmett Till all at this funeral.
It’s a doggone shame this list of names is well known and growing. SMH.
I caught the Don Lemon interview of Ms. McSpadden, Trayvon’s mother and Sean Bell’s mother. Heart wrenching.
Rev. Al is preaching this thang tho!!!!! Just made T.D. Jakes, and Spike Lee jump to their feet. CEOM THRU PERM!!!

Man, Sharpton puttin it all out there!

I caught the Don Lemon interview of Ms. McSpadden, Trayvon’s mother and Sean Bell’s mother. Heart wrenching.

Saw that one. I was crying then I became angry. Once Mike walked away from that car, he wasn’t a threat. If you can’t chase downs 300lb boy, you ain’t fit for duty. Taste him, heck hit him with the baton but to shoot him AT LEAST six times?! No. I’m not here for that. They had a list on FB if the basters who killed folks yet weren’t hurt, then of us who killed no one and were murdered. Jordan Davis, Trayvon, Oscar Grant, Dean Bell, EricGardner, the young man who knocked on the door and was murdered by cops, whwn will it end? When.

Yea people are quick to clown him but where are they at??? Not there. His very prescience brings awareness to the cause. Unlike Jesse Jackson I think he really cares when he goes places
He right. Folks gone leave, but that family still got deal with the pain. Lord help us. I tell hubby unfortunately it’s not a matter of if it’s when this happens again. For a country we built for free, we are treated like dirt.

Feel terrible for his mother and for all of his family. This type of thing needs to be stopped for good and I truly hope we see some legislation that is going to stop police from gunning down our people for no reason AND hold them crimanlly accountable when/if they do.
I know better than to watch this at work, but even the comments are giving me the sads. Rev. Al has far more wins than loses, so he’s okay in my book
If you cannot control yourself don’t do it in Michael’s name … Do it in YOUR OWN NAME
Rev Al!!!

He was there. I heard some audio of activists telling him that he’s not welcome, because he’s only been riding around in his limo. They told him that he didn’t come to march. He just came to be seen.

• “We can’t have a fit. We’ve got to have a movement,” the Rev. Al Sharpton says, calling not for short-term protests but a long-term effort to change attitudes and laws.
• Sharpton speaks of recent incidents of police violence in America, saying that “it’s time to deal with policing. We are not the haters, we’re the healers.”
• He criticizes police actions in the case, questioning the investigation and saying authorities were wrong for pointing rifles at protesters.
• Sharpton had harsh words for those who reacted to Brown’s death with violence and looting. “Can you imagine, they’re heartbroken, their son taken, discarded and marginalized, and they have to stop mourning to get you to control your anger, like you’re more angry than they are, like you don’t understand that Michael Brown does not want to be remembered for a riot. He wants to be remembered as the one that made America deal with how we’re going to police in the United States.
• “We should not sit here today and act like we are watching something that is in order. In all of our religious and spiritual celebration, let us not lose sight of the fact that this young man should be doing his second week in college,” Sharpton says in his eulogy.
• “We will demand equal justice for Michael Brown Jr.,” family attorney Benjamin Crump says to applause as he introduces Sharpton.
• “Michael Brown’s blood is crying from the ground, crying for vengeance, crying for justice,” said the Rev. Charles Ewing, the teenager’s uncle. He drew parallels between Brown’s life, death and Scripture. “There is a cry being made from the ground, not just for Michael Brown, but for the Trayvon Martins, for those children at Sandy Hook Elementary School, for the Columbine massacre, for the black-on-black crime.”
[Previous story, posted at 12:41 p.m]
Family members of Michael Brown on Monday remembered that the slain teen said, “One day, the world will know my name.”
Four members of his family recalled memories of “Mike Mike,” as they called him, during his funeral at Friendly Temple Missionary Baptist Church in St. Louis.
“Michael was a big guy, but he was a kind, gentle soul, and before he left this earth, the day that he was killed, he was out spreading the word of Jesus Christ,” a family friend said.
They urged the crowd of thousands of mourners to “show up at the voting polls,” because “we have had enough to of seeing our brothers and sisters killed in the streets.”
“If we had more of this,” one family member said, referring to the audience, then motioning to Brown’s casket, “we could have less of this. It shouldn’t have took this to get us together like this.”
Bishop Edwin Bass of the Church of God in Christ told the Brown family that he, too, lost a child to violence, on the streets of St. Louis. “While this tragic loss will always be with you, the step-by-step, one foot in front of the other march of time will ultimately bring you to a divine place where you will laugh again, you will find the joy of living again, as your thinking shifts from tragedy to the joyful reflection of good times.”
Michael Brown’s mother, Lesley McSpadden, wiped away tears as she stood at the coffin that holds her son’s body.
The sanctuary, which holds 2,500 people, was filled to capacity, and an overflow auditorium was also full. Hundreds were still lined up outside in the city’s sweltering heat.
Retired mail carrier Hilliard Phillips, who once delivered on the street where Brown was killed, was among the mourners. He said there’s power in numbers, and he hoped the outpouring of support for Brown and his family would spur society to take a look at itself.
“You can’t really overnight change the behavior of a person, but sometimes they can be coerced in a sweet way. … I would hope they could see people coming together in a solemn way to show their respect to someone,” he said.
The Rev. Al Sharpton was expected to deliver a eulogy discussing the “national view” of Brown’s death more than two weeks after he was shot to death by a Ferguson, Missouri, police officer.
Before Sharpton, the Rev. Charles Ewing was expected to deliver a eulogy from the family’s perspective, according to a preliminary program provided by organizers.
Brown’s death on August 9 sparked days of sometimes violent protests in the St. Louis suburb and concern over race and police shootings across the country. In the past several days, things have calmed down, and the town is slowly coming back to life.
Among the guests expected to attend the service were Martin Luther King III and the Rev. Bernice King; the Rev Jesse Jackson; the families of Trayvon Martin and Sean Bell; and celebrities Spike Lee, Diddy and Snoop Lion.
The White House is sending three officials to the funeral. One of them is Broderick Johnson, who leads the White House’s My Brother’s Keeper Task Force. He’ll be joined by Marlon Marshall, a St. Louis native who attended high school with Brown’s mother, and Heather Foster. Marshall and Foster are part of the White House Office of Public Engagement.
Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon, however, won’t attend.
“The Governor has communicated to attorneys representing the family of Michael Brown that he will not be attending today’s funeral out of respect for the family, who deserve time to focus on remembering Michael and grieving their loss,” spokesman Scott Holste said.
Brown’s father, Michael Brown Sr., called Sunday for a day of calm during the funeral.
“Please, please take a day of silence so I can, so we can, lay our son to rest,” he told a rally in St. Louis. “Please. It’s all I ask.”
Viewing
The service comes a day after about 100 friends and family members attended a viewing of Brown’s remains.
McSpadden spent about 20 minutes alone with her son, Crump told CNN on Monday. Brown’s father, Michael Brown Sr. then joined McSpadden for 10 minutes, followed by Brown’s grandmother, before other friends and family were welcomed in, according to Crump.
In an interview that aired Monday on CNN’s “New Day,” the mother of slain Florida teenager Trayvon Martin spoke about McSpadden, saying that Monday will be the “worst day of her life as a mother.”
“There is no words that can bring comfort to her as a mother by seeing her son in a casket,” Sybrina Fulton said.

riddle me this, same scenario, time, place, before and after events. suppose mike brown died at the hands of a black guy, still shot six times in the same places, would black people be up in arms and so upset? or would this just be another day at the office where we yawn, shake our heads, and decide what’s for lunch?
i know first hand what it’s like to lose a family member – uncle 1988, arkansas – by the hands of the cops. the naacp and many others would not touch my family’s case. interesting. oh, my uncle was beaten to death by cops. he was so badly beaten that in his casket blood and other fluids continued to ooze from his head and face. so trust me, im not being insensitive by any means. i will NEVER forget the swelling of his entire face and head and the look of pain on my uncle’s face.

I, for one, would be equally outraged. My issue is that a badge and uniform has made Wilson above reproach. I shared with you that my oldest brother used to abuse his power as a police officer. I feel that they should be convicted when they convict crimes like anyone else.
On the other hand, I’m not sure if a black police officer have reacted the way Wilson did. A black officer probably wouldn’t have an irrational fear of another black man.
By why must be separate them? Why can’t they both be bad? So we can’t mourn this young man’s passing because there was someone else killed by a black person in another area??? Sorry. Not gonna go that route with you. But you stand firm in your opinion like I did earlier. You got that right
Well watts for your 2nd lunch then? Yeen fooling me

We should be outraged when someone is murdered period. But if we can’t understand why folks are protesting a COP killing a boy in the street and his body lying in the street. I’m sorry. Can’t help you.

I have a black male friend that is married to an other and he put up a story about an unarmed white guy who was shot and killed by a black police officer this weekend and asked how come nobody was protesting that. I don’t have all of the details of that shooting and I’m sure it too is a terrible situation but it’s not as wide spread an issue in their community as it is in the black community. I love black men but I HATE when they can’t identify with something impacting the black community because their wives are not black. He may not have a son, but that could have been HIM just as it was Mike Brown. Just cause you assimilated, does not mean you are no longer black.

What Al said is what i have been saying all along. Black people get money and power and get complacent; they emotionally withdraw from situations that used to once affect them or they once identified one and use the hands off approach – if its not affecting me i can look the other way. Yes this happens with other races but you see it only with individual issues not things that affect their community at large.
