R.I.P. Joe Cocker

RIP Joe Cocker

British singer/songwriter Joe Cocker has died following a battle with lung cancer. He was 70. The gravelly voiced singer is best known in America for his hit songs "You Are So Beautiful" and "Up Where We Belong" (from the movie 'An Officer and a Gentleman)'.

Cocker's agent Barrie Marshall announced his death today. In a press statement Marshall said Cocker was "simply unique" and "it will be impossible to fill the space he leaves in our hearts."

Edit: Dr. Dre, Tupac Shakur and Roger Troutman sampled Cocker's Song "Woman to Woman" for their hit rap song "California Love".
