Amanda Davis arrested for DUI

Veteran Atlanta news anchor Amanda Davis identifies as an alcoholic. She doesn’t deny her propensity to drink like a sailor. She knows getting behind the wheel of a car is wrong, but she does it anyway. That’s why she needs your prayers.

Davis, 59, was arrested early Monday for driving drunk… again.

She was pulled over by Cobb County Police about a mile from her home. The AJC obtained Cobb County jail records that shows Davis was arrested at 12:50 a.m. Monday and later released on $1,650 bond.

“I observed a Mercedes E350 fail to maintain a single lane of travel on Atlanta Road southbound prior to Cumberland Pkwy.,” the arresting officer wrote in the report. “The driver of the vehicle, Amanda Davis, was placed under arrest for DUI after I conducted an investigation.”

Monday’s arrest is Davis’ 3rd DUI in Atlanta. Her last arrest was in 2012 when she drove the wrong way on Piedmont Road and hit another car.

Ironically, her latest arrest came on the same day the former Fox 5 anchor was to return to television airwaves.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports Davis took a leave of absence from CBS46 on Monday. She was scheduled to debut on CBS46 Monday evening in a program called “Just a Minute”.

After she was released on bail, Davis took to her Facebook page to ask for prayers.
