If you thought another man was the reason behind Gavin Rossdale and Gwen Stefani’s divorce, you’re correct.
A phone call from Rossdale’s former lover, cross-dressing singer Marilyn, led to their breakup, Radar Online reports.
“I spoke to him a couple weeks ago, ” Marilyn told Radar Online in an exclusive interview. “He called me.”
Marilyn, who was born Peter Robinson, said Rossdale, 49, blamed his constant interference for ending his and Gwen’s marriage.
Stefani, 45, filed for divorce on Monday. Rossdale filed his answer at the same time according to published reports.
Marilyn said Rossdale ranted and raved on the phone about how “everything is my fault” because “I did an interview [about the affair] … and everything from then on is all my fault.”
Marilyn was referring to the exclusive interview in which he exposed Rossdale’s bisexuality to the world in 2011.
“And I’m listening to all this. He said ‘You’re getting all worked up,’ and I said ‘Out of two of us, who’s the one screaming?’ He went on and on.”
Marilyn said Rossdale eventually did “calm down and caught himself.”
He said Stefani was in denial thinking she could change Rossale and make him forget about desiring men.
“Gwen wants him to be something he’s not, and he wants to be something he’s not,” said Marilyn. “That’s my interpretation.”
He added: “I’m very sad for all parties involved, mostly the children.”
