Rapper Ja Rule returned to cable television in his favorite role: playing a Cosby-esque husband and father to his long-suffering wife and kids in MTV’s newest reality TV show, Follow the Rules.

In last night’s season debut, we learn that Ja’s eldest son, Jeffrey Jr., is a gang banger. In an earlier interview Ja Rule said he hoped his new show would encourage men to be better fathers to their children.

If this show flops in the ratings, expect to see a parade of groupies who have stories to tell about their one-night stands with the promiscuous rapper.

I actually liked JaRule when he was making music. He had some hits. He’s actually the reason that I don’t care too much for 2 quarters. Surveillance cameras caught her trying to add to her long list of thefts at Phipps Plaza shopping center in the Buckhead neighborhood, according to arresting documents cited by the news station. Officers from the Atlanta Police Department booked her on Friday, and she’s charged with theft by shoplifting, according to Fulton County inmate records.

Payne, the star of “The Life and Crimes of Doris Payne,” drew notoriety for lifting a 10 and ½-carat diamond in Monte Carlo years ago.

But she’s most recently linked with the theft of a $33,000 diamond-studded ring in the Charlotte area in July. Payne is still wanted in Mecklenburg County, N.C., according to her inmate record.

She’s in good spirits but struggling with her health, Payne’s lawyer told the TV station.

The seasoned shoplifter put the Dior earrings in her pocket Friday and “politely walked out of the store,” Atlanta police Sgt. Warren Pickard told WSB.

“I think these officers just thought it was a run of the mill shoplifting,” Pickard said. “They took the woman into custody and, a short time thereafter, they got notice that another jurisdiction had a warrant for her and she was an international thief.”

DENVER — Officials say an inmate assaulted theater shooter James Holmes and a security officer at the Colorado State Penitentiary.

Adrienne Jacobson, a spokeswoman for the Colorado Department of Corrections, tells The Denver Post (http://goo.gl/SJeY1w ) that the inmate lunged at Holmes and took a few swings at him while the officer was escorting Holmes through a hallway on Oct. 8. Holmes was not injured.

Jacobson tells The Associated Press that the 27-year-old inmate accused of attacking Holmes will be disciplined during a hearing inside the prison.

Holmes is allowed to spend four hours in a day hall. No other inmates are in his cellblock.

A judge in August sentenced the 27-year-old to life in prison without parole for killing 12 people and wounding 70 others at a movie theater in suburban Denver in July 2012.
