Songbird Monica Brown was the musical guest on The Wendy Williams Show today. Mo performed a medley of her hit songs including “Don’t Take it Personal” and “Just Right For Me” off her new album, Code Red, in stores tomorrow.
The striking 5-8″ redhead and mother-of-three said she’s not done birthing babies.
Monica shared her personal views on the sorry state of today’s R&B music.
“I’m just fighting for the restoration of R&B,” Mo told Wendy. “It’s not as respected and loved as it used to be. That’s why I named [the album] Code Red; dyed my hair red. I took the whole movement seriously, because this music really saved my life and I think that it will for a lot of other people. They need some balance,” she added.
Monica told Wendy she would prefer to go on tour with singers Fantasia Barrino and Jazmine Sullivan. “There are so many of us that really believe in SINGING, singing,” she said, implying that many of today’s artists can’t sing.
Monica took offense when Wendy asked if she was still married to former NBA player Shannon Brown. “I mean, I wouldn’t come here if I was getting divorced,” Monica clapped back.
Mo went on the defensive again when Wendy asked her if Shannon was working.
“Actually he is deciding where he wants to go,” Mo said. “He’s a free agent so he’s in the best position because he can make the decision and not just get thrown somewhere.”
Monica added that Shannon is still recovering from an injury. The 6′-4″ point guard last played for the Miami Heat in 2014. He was waived after playing five games.
The couple tied the knot in a secret civil ceremony in 2010.
