Police have arrested four of 5 teens who allegedly gang raped an 18-year-old girl in a Brooklyn park.
According to the NY Post, 2 boys, 14 and 15, were turned in by their upstanding parents. Police later arrested 2 additional teenage suspects. A fifth suspect is still on the loose.
The horrific rape took place on the playground of a Brooklyn park at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.
The 5 suspects allegedly took turns raping the girl after one of the thugs pulled a gun on her father, telling him “Get the f*** out of here!”
The father ran off and flagged down a patrol car, but the thugs had already fled the scene.
Brooklyn politicians and civic leaders are outraged that police took 2 days to report the rape to the public.
Borough President Eric Adams accused police of intentionally withholding the crime from the public because the rape occurred in crime-ridden Brownsville instead of Manhattan’s Central Park.
Authorities ramped up their investigation into the gang rape after London’s Daily Mail tabloid ran the story.
“For community leaders and the community to find out about this horrific crime from the tabloids is not acceptable,” Adams said.
“The imperative to catch those people shouldn’t matter if the park is Osborn [Playground] or Central Park,” he said. “The same level of urgency must be followed.”
