The mummified remains of Manfred Fritz Bajorat, 59, was found on board a yacht that was adrift at sea “for years”.
The mummified body was found slumped in a sitting position at the controls of a radio and navigation desk inside the cabin.
Dr. Mark Benecke, a forensic criminologist who didn’t examine the body, told German tabloid BILD, “The way he is sitting seems to indicate that death was unexpected, perhaps from a heart attack.”
Bajorat was last seen or heard from in 2009, the NY Post reports.
Fishermen found the yacht drifting in the Philippine Sea about 60 miles from Barabo on Thursday.
Bajorat began his travels with his wife in 2008, but the couple split up in 2009. She later died of cancer.
Inspector Mark Navales said there was no sign of foul play or any signs of a second person on board the yacht.
“It is still a mystery to us,” said Navales.
