L.A. Lakers star Nick Young was removed from the team’s active roster prior to the Laker’s loss to the Boston Celtics on Sunday.
Lakers Coach Byron Scott said benching Young for the past 11 games was purely a “basketball decision” and nothing to do with Young’s highly publicized personal problems off the court.
Choosing his words carefully, Scott hinted that Young’s mental condition may be partly responsible for inactivating the star guard for the season.
“It has nothing to do with the chemistry,” Scott said Monday. “It has everything to do with just basketball. Right now, I know what he’s going through, and I know it’s hard on him. But he’s not here with us, mentally, and there’s no need for me to put him out there on the floor.”
As you know, Young was secretly recorded admitted to cheating on girlfriend Iggy Azalea with a 19-year-old groupie 2 months ago.
And last month, a woman accused Young and teammate Jordan Clarkson of making obscene gestures toward her 68-year-old mother during a road rage incident.
Sports reporter, Mike Bresnahan broke the news Sunday night, saying Young was deactivated for Sunday’s game — and he may be out for the rest of the regular season.
