The pistol George Zimmerman used to gun down 17-year-old Trayvon Martin was sold at auction for $120,000.
Zimmerman, 32, auctioned the Kel-Tec PF-9 9mm handgun he used to kill the unarmed teenager four years ago as he returned from a convenience store carrying a bag of Skittles and iced tea for his stepbrother.
According to TMZ, only seven verified users bid on the handgun, and the funds have yet to be verified.
In the listing description, Zimmerman identified the weapon as "the firearm that was used to defend my life and end the brutal attack from Trayvon Martin on 2/26/2012… This is a piece of American History.”
He said proceeds from the sale will be used to “fight [Black Lives Matter] violence against Law Enforcement officers, ensure the demise of [Zimmerman’s prosecuting attorney] Angela Correy’s [sic] persecution career and Hillary Clinton’s anti-firearm rhetoric.”
Zimmerman's original auction listing on GunBroker.com was removed last week after public uproar on social media and elsewhere.
