Musician Frank Ocean famously went AWOL after revealing his homosexuality in an open letter on his Tumblr page in 2012.
His honesty was not well-received by the hip hop community, which blacklisted him and his music.
Ocean went underground soon after his first album, Channel Orange, was released to critical acclaim in 2012.
His 2nd album, Boys Don’t Cry, was originally slated for release in 2012, 2013, and 2015.
“I got two versions. I got twoooo versions,” Ocean teased in a post on his personal website. But his record label shelved the album indefinitely due, in part, to the rumored coming-of-gay content in both album versions.
According to @thacelebriteanews, the 28-year-old singer is now working as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) in California.
Good for him. I hope he’s saving at least 20% of his paychecks for retirement.
