Dallas authorities released the name of one of the suspects in the mass shooting in Dallas that left 5 police officers dead on Thursday.
Micah Xavier Johnson, 25, died when a police used a robot to detonate an explosive device near the suspect on the 2nd floor of a parking garage.
Police Chief David Brown read statements made by Johnson before he was killed Friday morning.
Johnson is quoted as saying he was “upset about Black Lives Matter” and he wanted to “kill white people especially white police officers.
Johnson told police he was not affiliated with any terrorist organization and he worked alone.
A black SUV found at the scene was registered to Johnson’s mother, Delphine Johnson.
Brown said officers saw no other option than to kill Johnson by remote control detonation of a bomb.
Brown was a soldier in the Army reserve and received military training using the AR-15 assault rifle.
Amateur videos shows Brown using his tactical training to gun down an officer outside the parking garage.
Brown fired behind a pillar to distract the officer, then maneuvered around the pillar to shoot the officer in the back. Johnson shot him 4 more times at point blank range while he was on the ground.

“We tried to negotiate for several hours, negotiations broke down,” Brown said. “We saw no other option but to use our bomb-robot and place a device on its extension for it to detonate where the suspect was.
“He wanted to kill officers, and he expressed killing white people, he expressed killing white officers,” Brown said. “He expressed anger for Black Lives Matter. None of that makes sense, none of that is a legitimate reason to do harm to anyone.”
3 suspects are currently in custody, including a woman. Police are searching for more suspects.
