Yasmin Seweid

According to the NY Daily News, college student Yasmin Seweid, 18, has been charged with filing a false police report after she claimed she was attacked by Donald Trump supporters for wearing a hijab in a New York City subway.

Seweid, who is Muslim, told police she was attacked by a group of drunk men shouting “Trump, Trump,” who ripped off her hijab while other subway riders stood by and did nothing.

The Baruch college student received an outpouring of support and sympathy from around the world after she recounted her ordeal in a Facebook.com post.

The NYPD made her case a top priority, but questions lingered.

The police couldn’t find any witnesses or video footage to back up Seweid’s claims of a hate crime.

“We dedicated a lot of resources to this — and don’t get me wrong, this is what we do — but we had guys going back and forth, looking for video and witnesses, and we couldn’t find anything,” a police source told the Daily News.

The police pressed Seweid to admit she made the story up, but she stuck to her story.

“She had numerous opportunities to admit nothing happened,” the police source said.

The teenager finally broke down on Wednesday and admitted she made the whole thing up.

She said she lied about being attacked because she stayed out late past her curfew.

Before her arraignment on Wednesday, her parents shaved her head as punishment for bringing shame to their family.

Seweid’s hoax drew comparisons to Tawana Brawley, the NY woman who, as a teenager, lied about being raped by 4 white men because she feared getting in trouble after staying out past her curfew.
