Ellen Degeneres: ‘Obama Changed My Life’

Daytime talk show maven Ellen Degeneres paid special tribute to former President Barack Obama on her show. On Thursday's episode of The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the star shared: "I want to personally thank [Obama] for changing my life."

The 58-year-old comedienne continued: "I am a legally married woman because of him and so is my wife. His courage and compassion created equality for everyone. He moved us forward and made more happen in the past eight years than I ever dreamed possible. I love him. I love Michelle.”

Influential gays lobbied successfully for Obama to flip flop on his stance on traditional marriage.

In the summer of 2015, with Obama's blessings, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that same-sex marriage is a legal right, which Obama hailed as a "victory for America".

Degeneres and her life partner, actress Portia de Rossi, 43, tied the knot in 2015.

    Ellen makes me sick. Uggghhh. But she has every reason to celebrate Obama because his whole presidency was designed to benefit people like her.

    8 years of countless missed opportunities. Most Americans had such high hopes for this man when he took office in 2009 and the only thing he has to show for those 8 years is a bunch of bulldaggers and sissies--almost exclusively white--skipping down the aisle, only to get divorced after they freak a few times.

    The sad irony of all of this, to me though, is Democrats and people who didn't even vote, rioting and cursing and having fits. What they need to do is see the truth: had Obama not been a puppet for the gay and immigrant lobby, had he cared about inner city crime and murder, had he worked to keep U.S. jobs in America--then there is no way in the world Trump would have been President.

    Thanks for 8 years of nothing, Obama.

    A portion of this comes in the form of tax loopholes that the super rich exploit. And in all fairness, only Trump spoke about that--and regularly--during the debates. Hillary, who is owned by Wall Street, offered duplicitous answers. Obama, while in office, did nothing.

    I support Obamacare--for the most part. The tax penalties are problematic. And even Obama himself has said its imperfect, and I think he's more informed about it than you are.

    Not sure about this so-called tech boom; the White House's only real cyber accomplishment was making Twitter popular. Please remember, it was under Obama's watch that the DNC was HACKED--and in a very profound and historic way.

    The bailouts actually started with Bush, please check you history.

    My home was saved under Obama. Obama worked to order children with Asperger's to be serviced by County Regional Centers. My son is a savant and I used most of my retirement for his therapies. Many, many of our children fall within the spectrum.
    I am now credentialed to use music as therapy for the areas I volunteer in : Watts/Compton/Willowbrook. I work with at-risk youth(gang members) also between music gigs. The only change our inner cities will see must occur from within. Change starts with self and this is what my parents don't want to hear. They too expected a magic bullet from Obama's arsenal.
    In my younger years I was involved in the political scene. After witnessing the 60s I was so overwhelmingly impressed by Obama stepping up and tackling a presidency wrought with strife leading a nation in an unstable time. He and his lovely family endured the slings and arrows with intellect and dignity. The first election after my birth was JFK. I've witnessed much and I don't remember feeling such pride in any politician as with Obama. I never thought I'd live to see Blacks as governors even and look what he did. Just to accomplish what he did he had to jump over hoops no other President would have to. God Bless You and your family. I've witnessed "the impossible" . So long, My President.

I think a complete tracking system state to state and penalties for lost/stolen guns will help with getting the amount of firearms on the streets reduced. America needs to be more responsible collectively. I love my guns, and I love my right to bear arms. What I do not like is crooked gun shop owners selling guns and changing serial numbers for profit and the guns ending up in then hands of young children. I want better legislation in all states, uniform legislation on who is eligible to have a firearm, and again a tracking system of sorts, so when the guns change owners we can pinpoint when and where. No way to do this with the trade shows and the way people change the serial numbers. Didn't know the serial numbers game till I was in Miami and at a range and talked to some patrons about experiences they had.
