President Trump Won’t Overturn Obama’s Gay Protections for Federal Workers

Donald Trump

The Trump administration announced the president won’t overturn special protections for LGBT federal workers.

Before he left office, former President Obama signed an executive order making LGBT federal workers and contractors a special protected class.

Gay rights groups feared leftwing rumors that President Trump would overturn the special protections for gays and transgender federal workers and contractors.

The White House press office issued a statement on Tuesday announcing Trump is “supportive of LGBTQ rights.” The statement adds that Trump was “proud” to be “the first ever GOP nominee to mention the LGBTQ community in his nomination acceptance speech.”
